They are good as and friendly.

Great spot, it’s a bit out of town but great for a relaxing time, there is a carpet hole and release fishing experience, plenty of activities for a family. The adjoining tidal wetlands has a great variety of bird life. You can have a site with your own en-suite, which I love, all my bathroom gear is left in there ready for my shower,. My MH shower has my launch dry basket all laundry needs spare loo rolls etc, so I love that I don’t have to move all that out everyday for my shower, definitely recommend the place.

Whilst I understand it is or has been going through multiple park management changes, there are a number of basic simple changes that could be made to make it more attractive and user friendly. Having said that, it would be good to call back in a number of years and hopefully see a lot of positive progress in making it a more attractive and modern park.

We found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating with my situation, the park is clean and I did my dialysis treatment without a hiccup, we may stop here on our way back home.

This is our third stay at the park and we have always found it to be clean, the staff very friendly and accommodating and it is close to the harbour beach and a short drive to town. Being locals the park had a bad reputation in the past but the new owners and managers have done a wonderful job in turning the park around to a very enjoyable place to stay. We would recommend it to other caravaners.

We had a en-suite on a powered site very clean. Park very clean and tidy. Great little lake down the back lots of birdlife and you can catch and release a Barra.

Comfortable beds. Clean rooms. Friendly staff and dog friendly. Good for families.

Had a very nice night by the fire with a local singer entertaining us.

Got my bathers stolen off my own washing line and another lady had her cooked food eatten out of the communal fridge. Never seen anyone clean the shower block. But cheap so you get what you pay for.

Living here a while now. Quiet park, close to everything. Improving all the time.

Great friendly staff, very basic park, good clean rooms, the biggest amenity block and BBQ I have ever seen.

Very run down needs to be updated no bench seat in shower cubicles no where to put your towel or clothes. No soap in dispensers and nothing to dry your hands on after washing. Could be a nice camp.

Customer service disgusting except for Annigue. When you have 93 people staying at the park you would think you would be treated with a bit more respect. Would never stay there again. Plus the accommodation is clean but old.

Convient location, clean and tidy. Wifi kept dropping out.

OK so the previous guests left their kid's medication in the fridge and the cleaning staff didn't pick it up. … or empty the jug! But the room was neat & clean & the shower was hot & bed was comfy. Big bonus was I was able to negotiate to have my Track & Search trialling dogs with me… we had a lovely verandah to spend the afternoon on & I was able to park our truck right at the steps so I knew they could sleep in there close by. Quiet & cosy.

Celebrated our baby's first birthday here with family and friends and everyone was so impressed all round. Great swim area for little and big kids. Very clean facilities. Friendly helpful staff and cheap rate would highly recommend this place for a fun relaxing day trip, overnight stays … thank you to all the wonderful staff.

I stayed in a cabin and was happy with it. I've stayed here a few times before and never had a bad experience. Good friendly staff as well.

This place is BUDGET in every way. The bathroom has mould in the silicon and there is only a spare bed and no lounge to relax on, expected to sit on bed or spare bed with back up against cladding. Most uncomfortable. Door Lock is very loose. Cutlery needs replacing as they are falling apart, no sink draining tray, had to go buy one, stove takes forever to heat up, and you get the smallest piece of chux as dishcloth and watered down detergent, and no milk in the fridge upon arrival. Also no outdoor chairs and broom is broken. If I had of known this place was this bad I would have booked elsewhere. I would not stay here again or recommend anyone to stay here. It does not live up to its pictures on the internet.

Beds are rubbish … still have a sore back from 1 week ago … cabin 36a dont stay there… you'll be sorry.

DO NOT BOOK — Dodgy operators! They charged my credit card $75 even after I had cancelled my booking (with more than the required notice) and now refuse to provide a refund TO MY CARD. Whoever I spoke to on reception refused to give me her name, and said she would be 'posting a cheque' in the mail for my refund. Are you kidding?

Location was good. Given wrong room. Utilities are ok.

It's okay but they will have to improve their Internet coverage before I return. Its non existent inside my room and I was close to Antena. Also with motels dropping their prices it not that good a price anymore.

Dirty room. Cuttlery and dishes were disgusting. Checked out because of the cockroachs running around our room at night. Staff tried to keep our 100 dollar key deposit for checking out at 9.15 not 9 am. Pretty bad experience overall.

Ok park has potential but compared to other Big 4 parks a bit disappointing… has a great great pool area and staff are very friendly but that's about it good for an over night stay.

Fantastic close to city close to marina beautiful walks along the beach and marina have to drive there 3 klms worth it saw a whale at the end of the marina wow park staff so helpful and friendly luv it.

Pretty dated not the cleanest but the bed was fresh and clean and it was $75 for the night. Late check in organised no problems booking over phone and dropping off key in the morning. Good overnight stop place.

Huge number of toilets and showers (18) but there's no bench in the showers. We were camped right down the back next to a main road. Office very friendly. We walked to a restaurant Church on Palmer. Very nice.

Just what we needed after a long day traveling, nice hot shower clean amenities and lovely staff.

I have to agree with some of the other comments about the basic cabins next to the road. Whilst the sheets on the double bed had been changed and the bed madeup there was ant dirt over the pillow slips. The sliding door to the ensuite was off the track and I could not keep it on to close the door and ants fell out from somewhere. The steps to the double bunks were all bent. No curtain or divider of any sort to separate main bed from rest of place and other issues as stated by others. I am surprised we were offered a cabin so poorly maintained. Definately not up to standard. I complained and was upgraded to another type of cabin at no cost increase. The staff were very friendly, however I will most likely give this place a miss in future.

Lovely staff, clean rooms, we stayed in July and Aug so off peak — probably more fun for the kids with the waterpark in warm weather. We used it as a one night stop off both times so the jumping pillow was enough fun. The TV & Games room is an old couch, a TV and some baby toys.

We had a great stay at the Big 4 Mackay Marine Tourist Park. The office staff were friendly and cheerful and always did their best in meeting our requests for assistance and information. It is obvious that a lot of work is being done to improve the park. Our site and amenities were very good. We had an unfortunate incident with our caravan and had to return to Mackay for repairs which took a week. We returned to the park and explained our situation and they did an awesome job in getting us into a onsite cabin which was neat and tidy. Would definitely return again!

Old and untidy toilets. Camping ground for the caravan was uneven. Not what we expected from big 4. We are big 4 members and we always choose to camp in their parks. For the amount of money we pay for this Mackay big 4 is not worth it. Not impressed at all.

Fantastic customer service, accommodation better than expected. Clean, well maintained and compared to other sites we stayed at on our trip up and down the QLD coast line, the best value for money on our whole trip.

Helpful and friendly staff. Great amenities and recreational facilities. Close to centre of city and other attractions. Would stay again for sure.

I recently stayed two weekends in a row. The service was amazing. I got held up by a car accident the first weekend and they waited back from a dinner engagement to book me in. :) the following weekend was just as rewarding, when my dogs were let loose and staff found, looked after and communicated with me, above and beyond thanks for your understanding and cooperation great area, close to many attractions cheers col ob.

Staff ensured that I had arranged access for a late check in. The chalet accommodated our family of 6 better than a motel would have. There were a couple of minor issues such as the blind in the master bedroom not being adjustable, but otherwise I can't fault the room. Didn't get to meet the staff in person due to the early check out but they were most professional over the phone.

Great! This was my stop over from gladstone Townsville. I have a 4yr old and 1 yr old and after being on the road for nearly 7 hrs this place was perfect! We checked in and kids swam, ran/crawled around the water park and jumped on the jumping pillow for almost 2hrs. They were knackered by 7 and straight to sleep. We stayed in the budget family ensuit and it was basic with bunk and double bed but it's was all we needed. Very clean and tidy. I will be booking on our way back down in a week.

Overpriced commercial campsite. The staff were rude and unhelpful. We asked if we could checkout half an hour late as wanted to go into town to go to the gym and comeback and shower and the guy simply said "Check out is at 10. " I was pretty shocked to be honest, it wasn't busy, plenty of spare unpowered spots. I asked if he was serious and he repeated "Check out is at 10". No apology or anything. Lots of facilities but you pay way over the going rate for them. Go to one of the other family run campsites, you will have much better time!

Our van site became a quagmire when it rained as the roof runoff from the amenities block next door was dumped on the ground. The amenities facilities were old but adequate although the walls were covered in gnats and mosquitoes. Other sites were better located and drained so I would probably stay here again but check the site first.

We stayed in a cabin at the Big4 park at short notice when our camper van broke down on the highway. The cabin was set up very well and the welcome and service by the staff in reception was excellent. The manager did a great job in juggling people around so we could stay in the same cabin for the extra night we needed when the replacement van was late arriving. Thanks for your great service.

Just back from a very enjoyable family Easter break at Mackay Marine Tourist Park. We were there Australia Day weekend last year and the improvements in that 15 months are great. The amenities were clean and functional last time, but have had a complete facelift since then and look great; there is now a fantastic little water park alongside the pool which kept the 7 kids we were there with well occupied. It's a hop, skip and a jump to the harbour for a beach swim and play in a big open park. The kids room with a TV was a godsend in the pack up stage of the weekend as we had 2 camper trailers and 2 tents to pack up. Scott and his team were very helpful in finding space for us all together and even played Easter Bunny on Sunday morning. Sure, Harbour Road gets a little noisy but that is not something that is in the control of management — they can't stop the traffic and it is worth 'putting up with' a little noise for the convenient location.

This place was shit 2 yrs ago. Please make it a priority to stay here, customer service is 15 out of 10 and the facilities are even better, we are self contained but camp kitchen is awesome and well used cheapest laundry anywhere and the best pool (deep as) and water slide and water park for the kids its awesome, (we dont even have kids. ) plus it is PET FRIENDLY! Cant recommend it enough. Because a ove all the staff were absolutely the most helpful we have come across in a big city! Well done everyonr! this is where you want to stay as a base to explore the mackeay region.

What is the point of having pool rules when managment cant be bothered enforcing them especially when your wife is disabled and no one gives a shit, first time in big4 and the last time.

Good clean park, plenty of activities for the kids. Very clean cabins and friendly staff. Only down fall very close to a busy road.

I dont intend to return. Although an attempt is being made to refurbish the park — the place smells. Ive been told that the park is next to the former mackay dump and accross the road from a sewage plant which is being de-commissioned. Also, the park is low lying with the swamp adjacent to the lowest road. Prices charged are excessive and better value can be found elsewhere.

Stayed here for two weeks in what they call budget cabins. At first we were happy, was semi-clean when we arrived. Park is still being renovated so had to rely on unstable stairs to get onto non child proof deck. Never got use to the traffic noise, trucks flying past at all hours of the night constantly woke me up. Cabin leaked the entire time we were there, bathroom, kitchen window, by the beds, and at the front door, reception told but never did anything about it. Never offered new towels, teatowels etc. Bad communication with management with not advising of pre arranged power cut, and never offered apology, just excuses. I would only stay here again once the whole place was completed.
