We spent 3 days at Ferntree Rainforest Lodge in early July and had a lovely time. The layout of the cottages is well done and although they are quite close to each other, there didn't seem to be any feeling of having your privacy invaded. Given the environment of the rainforest and weather conditions that they must endure throughout the year, they are holding up pretty well although some general maintenance and care could be undertaken as they appear to be a bit aged particularly in the bathroom areas.
In general, a very comfy room with a few touches that could be made to improve the overall experience. Coffee cups and glasses are provided however these were not replaced during the daily cleaning and although we washed them ourselves in the bathroom, we then had no tea towel that we could dry them with. I would be more than happy to rinse our own cups if we could have dried them also. Not everything was restocked during cleaning — we had no pool towels or spare toilet paper and had to go and ask at reception.
There is no Wi-Fi in the region so it's really nice to be able to actually switch off (the paid satellite option was not working).
We stayed with our teenage children and they shared a twin upstairs room which had no blinds or curtains on the windows. They had no problem with that as the rainforest is beautiful and dark at night but younger children may not like having bare windows or may have been woken by the morning light.

That's really a surreal place, in the middle of the rainforest: quietness, peace, wilderness, isolation. If you wanna escape for a while from the madness of the everyday life, that's the right place. The Lodge is beautiful and clean, the common area is pretty tidy and the cassowary bar is really nice. The only thing I must say I didn't really appreciate was that the manager (if she was the manager, anyway she was always in the reception) has not been so helpful. No one explained to me anything about Cape Trib, the various tours and the free possible walks. I think that should be necessary for a guest, even as a quick information talk, just to receive some tips or suggestions.

A nice weekend getaway at Cape Tribulation, rooms smelt very mouldy, hot water system is instant so prepare yourself for either a hot or cold shower. The staff where really nice but they must be seasonal so very unsure of everything. Ended up moving rooms as the toilet was leaking. Everything needs a clean but I guess it's in the jungle so it must be hard to keep on top of everything. Pool looked nice but was freezing cold. Food and drinks was really good at the bistro. Overall we would stay here again but only in the off season at a greatly reduced price.

This place isn't like the usual hostel you would expect. There are lots of huts surrounded by the rainforest. There are lots of spiders, lizards, frogs and mozzies around so you really feel like you're a part of the nature. Not sure if we just got lucky but there were no bunk beds in our room! the rooms are a bit outdated and the beds weren't very comfortable, but the location and surroundings made the stay worth it! the meals at the ferntree restaurant were really delicious!

Excellent accom in Cape Trib. Gounds immaculate and well tended. Great reception service. Close to shops. 6-bed share room a bit dated, but air con in room very appreciated.

The place is ok big room all the service that you looking for and very close to the beach.

Nice and deep in the woods, most people are doing working holiday there.

Beautiful location and lovely pool. But, accommodation stank of mould and needed a damn good clean. Thought we'd try out the restaurant. We watched others get their meals who ordered after us and then ours arrived. Unfortunately due to NONE of the kitchen staff wearing hair caps over their long dark hair, there was hair in our food! With no apology from the chef, just a "you not gonna eat that mate" and even after pointing out the lack of hair caps, they continued on. Disgusted.

Thankyou for the great stay at your lodge! What a experience for us all. Family of 5 different aged kids we really enjoyed our stay! Our garden lodge in the middle of the rainforest was really something special. We check out tomorrow and will definitely miss this beautiful place… Thankyou.

Our visit was in 2008, but one of the best memories of travel! Nice room, breakfast idyllic and memorable pool (printing to swim in a natural source, but without the fear of the "corny").

We stayed for one night over the Easter long weekend. The room was relatively clean although a lot of dead bugs on the beds in the loft… But hey! That's the jungle. Dinner wasn't too bad… All the chips that were served with the meals were burnt. We waited a considerable amount of time for food and when the kid's ice cream was brought out, it was completely melted. Staff were also unable to advise of where to visit in the area for some sight seeing. Beautiful location.

A delight in the middle of the rainforest. Managers and staff are wonderful and will go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Two beautiful lagoon pools; treehouse accommodation — admire the rainforest from your bed; excellent restaurant (Off The Grid) ; central to everything. Loads to do within a 5 minute walk: Watch sunrise at the beach; stroll the Dubuji rainforest boardwalk; a choice of 3 cafe/restaurants; grocery store. Organise your tours from here too. Just wonderful!

Great but, will be nice if they had more variety in the breakfast and the share kitchen utility were not much, only one good knife and five pans. Cutlery was enough but there was not much to cook with apart from the basics. Everything else was great, very clean very nice staff, good beds…

I only staying here for two days in total. The small retreat is tucked away in the fresh, green, wet rainforest. With big open windows really invites the rainforest in. Ferntree in located a 10 minutes walk away from beach in surrounded by tropical rainforest. So it's a perfect place to escape the busy lifestyle I am normally used too. I stayed in 5 person lodge for around $70 a night, with this price we got use of both swimming pools and stayed in a clean and modern lodge. The common room was very nice and served all purposes. There is a restaurant on the complex, unfortunately this was a little expensive for my budget but it did look very appetising. The staff are very welcoming and inviting, and are more than happy to help with anything. The only think it lacked was a clean and modern kitchen. It didn't have a cooker or even a hob. Unless you on cooking this wont effect you but for budget backpackers this was the only criticism. Over all this place was great and I would recommend it to anyone.

Recently visiting cape trib. I must say was an absolute dream. The resort was magnificant. The staff were extremely friendly. We felt welcomed and nothing was a problem. Our room was a treetop cabin. It was very clean, tidy and very presentable. No signs of bugs or bed fluff as reported in previous reviews. And must I say its a rainforest. A true blue rainforest. It has lots of creatures. Thats what lives in the rainforest. So when you leave the louvered windows open ya gonna get bugs. The restaurant was classy and friendly and meals were very well priced. We were lucky enough to get a big down pour on our first night. The rain. Hitting the tin roof, lightning flashing through the trees into our treetop cabin, lighting it up, was heaven. The kids loved the pool.

I recently took my family to stay here. 2 nights was way too short. The resort was magnificant. It was everything you would imagine coming to a tropical rainforest. Lots of creatures to see, unlimited tourist attractions and the treetop rooms were absolutely stunning. We loved every minute of it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. And we got to see a cossawary and its chick.

As per last post, room needs a serious clean. No bugs though, but lots of dust/fluff balls, mould in the shower, dirty marks on walls and doors etc. Linen and towels were fresh and staff were very friendly and helpful.
