My friends and I have used Mantra hotel in Chatswood on numerous occasions and have had fantastic service. It is sad when one or two rude and abrupt receptionists can ruin your experience and treat you like dirt. On Saturday 5th February 2016 around 8pm I went to check into the hotel and realised I had misplaced my handbag. I had two issues this night as follows: 1. I went to park in the Mantra loading zone (quick park so you can check in) and this Indian gentleman shooed me away from the spot. I found this odd as I had previously been instructed to use this spot when checking in. 2. Once I had parked I went in and this same gentleman was behind the reception desk. I explained the situation with my handbag to him. I asked him if I could show him alternative ID (i. E log into my bank account and show him etc. ). Now, I understand there are strict policies and procedures but no need to look me up and down and be rude and say "No! " so abruptly. I was upset by the way he spoke to me but wanted to figure out an alternative so asked "well what else can I do". He rudely again replied "I told you we have strict policies and procedures! " and went on lecturing me. I told him to calm down and said "well isn't an alternative to book another room? " and he was like "yes, you can do that". However, at that point he had been SOO rude to me I had enough, swore and walked out. Went down to the new Meriton where the staff were so much more accommodating and we got an AMAZING HUGE room with a kitchen, separate bedroom, living room AND balcony for the same price we were paying for this small room at the Mantra. All in all, to whoever that man is (who I'm pretty sure judged me because I am a young woman of a similar culture), you are an absolute disgrace to the hard work and effort that is put in by all the other staff at this hotel. And the woman who stood next to him and just nodded, you are equally as bad. I hope that you either get fired or you tuck your tail between your legs and treat customers as people who ARE PAYING to be respected and given your time of day when issues arise. So I lost the money on my booking, was treated rudely and had to stuff around my lovely friend. That's not just bad service, that's called being a bad human being.
