Madrugada

We camped on the lawn in from of the main chalet. As some of us were elderly we were allowed to use the bathroom in that chalet, as the other ablution is a bit had to reach when you are 60+ and have a knee problem. A small ablution at campers level would really make a stunning, beautiful place just perfect! We had only 2 nights but enjoyed every moment bird watching and walking in the amazing woods. Would love to return one day! Very friendly caretaker and very well behaved dogs.

Absolutly loved my stay, amazing and super welcoming host who showed us around the area, and it has a wonderful location.
The view is amazing, one of the most beautiful sunrises I have had, overlooking the vumba mountains and some of the mountains in Mozambique.
Fast and reliable Wi-Fi brought by Starlink (40mb/s-200mb/s). Multiple solar pannels and batteries made sure there was no electricity issues or outages.
The outdoor area is beautiful, step outside the door and you can go on wonderful forrest walks or relax in a very well maintained huge yard.
Beautiful waterfalls and view points not far away.

We were not able to find Madrugada Magic under hotel listings on Trip Advisor— only in vacation rentals. But know that this property also has a full-board option, provided it is arranged in advance. Also know that there is a two-bedroom chalet with en-suite bath and full kitchen available that has an adjoining deck with spectacular views. The chalet is well designed, full of light, spotless and gleaming, and less than 10 yards up the hill from parking. The proprietors are nature lovers and keep two friendly and quiet German shepherds. It would be a sin to just spend one night here. A full day is needed to hike in or just appreciate the primeval bush of the Vumba Mountains. The pleasure of hiking here is that the climate is cool (especially on top of the ridge behind the property) and free of biting insects.
The hardest part of the stay is getting there. You must follow the signage for Eden Lodge before the Madrugada signs start popping up. The last quarter mile is very steep. Most of the route is dirt road that can be hard for low-slung vehicles.

A wonderful situation in the middle of a beautiful valley. The host Roger is keen to ensure a relaxed get-away. There are mountain hikes and forest walks. We went on an excursion to a nearby waterfall.

Roger is a great host, we had the time of our life, you will definitely fall in love with nature.

Before Dawn "Madrugada". This place surpased my expectations. Indeed the place is packed with natural and organic trees which greets you with it's fresh air and chill weather. The cottages serves their purposes well and Roger; the man behind Madrugada Lodge takes it a bit further when he gives you a tour around Chinamata Falls, Leopard Rock, the Mountains, the Magic Tree only to mention a few. It's your choice to choose from self catering service and full course means provision.
It's always your right to enjoy life and kickstart it by paying a visit to Madrugada Lodges. God Bless You.

The location with stunning views over the Vumba mountains defies description — it is one of the most beautiful views I've ever seen. I enjoyed a perfect sunrise from my bedroom in the very cosy cottage. Amazing value for money, very inexpensive. Very comfortable furniture on the terrace to enjoy the view. Roger is delightfully sweet and truly engaged in the nature, having built up the place from scratch himself. I tremendously enjoyed his outstanding service with delivery of dinner and breakfast to my terrace. Delicious and plentiful food. Perfect place to relax, rewind and just be happy. Would love to come back.

I stayed here in 2015 for a couple of nights. The owner, Roger, was kind and generous and gave me a personal tour of the Bvumba — its highest peaks, its forest, its botanical gardens, and even of Leopard Rock.
You'd do well to find anyone who knows more or is more passionate about the region than Roger. Madrugada is a really special place with gorgeous views. Highly recommend!
