Lusaka Backpackers

Convenient location for the bus terminal but for the cost it was very basic. Its a nice place with friendly staff but the price was way too much.

After many years we just shortly visited this place in the hearth of Lusaka. Many things have changed there. The restaurant area was much bigger. Place was friendly and food was ok.

I stayed here back in 2016 when I travelled across sevr African countries in 12 months. Overall the quality was good for a hostel in Africa. I was sitting in the bar and Africa by Toto was playing on the TV, good times.

The problem is that when you arrive there you will find no rooms available which you saw they have plenty available rooms on the booking. Com. You will carry a big heavy backpack to find a new one in the dark. In the Dorm no mosquito nets can be provided.

Great value for money. The rooms are not fantastic but the price is right for what you get. I will go back.

The place has great potential and it has the basic facilities for a comfortable stay. Our stay had some inconvenients not mentioned or expected. However it was the first place in a long time in Africa where the manager was truly able to listen, consider and respond appropriately. We felt a good costumer service and hope future travelers will enjoy their stay with no trouble.

Our short stay (1 night) was a positive and pleasant experience. We arrived from the airport at roughly 11pm, and the lodge had arranged a free airport transfer and kept the kitchen open as we hadn’t been able to eat all day, which was very appreciative. The staff were the trip's highlight: accommodating, funny, and friendly, providing an excellent experience. The rooms were valued for the price, and we received a complimentary breakfast. The exterior was really nice, with a pool and lots of seating!

Our stay a had some challenges, but the manager’s response made a big difference.
He was very understanding, apologized. His kindness and effort to make things right left us with a much better impression.

Fantastic Hostel! The bar and pool table are definitely a highlight of this place.
As of Dec 2024 the price for a bed in the 4 bed dormitory was K250 per night. :)

Make sure to call more than once to confirm your reservation. Mine wasn’t made the first day I got there despite calling. Otherwise, it was a very nice place to relax.

Great spot to stay for a few nights. We had a tent, so we just camped on the lawn for next to nothing and were able to use the kitchen to cook our own meals. Highly recommend.

Very nice backpacker! Rooms are clean, there's a small kitchen a bar and a restaurant. The breakfast is nice with a variety of choics.
The communication with the staff is a bit difficult for others but the very helpful manager makes up for that.
Come and enjoy too.

The rooms need serious renovations. The service was excellent, friendly polite staff, except there was no running water in the morning and no effort was made to give us water in buckets or something and it messed up all my programs for the day coz I had to wait for pump to be fixed to start my day.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the super nice hostel and I must say, it exceeded all of my expectations. From the moment I arrived, the workers were incredibly welcoming and made me feel right at home.
The cleanliness of the hostel was impeccable — every corner was spotless and well-maintained. I was impressed by how well the staff kept everything in order, making sure that the common areas and rooms were always in top condition.
One of the highlights of my stay was the beautiful pool area. It was the perfect spot to relax and unwind after a day of exploring the city. The pool was clean and inviting, and I loved spending my afternoons lounging by the water.
The kitchen at the hostel was also amazing. It was fully equipped with everything I needed to cook my own meals, which was a great way to save money while traveling. The communal atmosphere in the kitchen also made it easy to strike up conversations with other guests, creating a sense of community that I really appreciated.
Overall, my experience at the super nice hostel was nothing short of fantastic. From the friendly staff to the clean facilities, and the amazing pool and kitchen, I left feeling totally positive about my stay. I would highly recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming place to stay.

I stayed two nights here in a private room. It is fine.
Good things: great location for walking to sights, cafes, etc; Good Wi-Fi; Functional room/bathroom; Hang out areas; nice and helpful staff.
The stuff I didn't love: it's pretty run down, the kitchen was very dirty, & cockroaches in my room (small ones and just around the fridge).
I would stay there again but I wouldn't be enthusiastic about it.

If you are on budget and don't care if you stay in and old place, this is for you. Old in the good sense of the word. Great cheap food, cold beer, nice regional and international guests and perfect staff, very helpful and fun. What else do you need. I stayed a bit longer than my plans, but got a discount on the private room.

The place is in a good position. I changed my first room after a couple of days and it wasn't so clean or new. The second room was nicer and more new and clean. The water was hardly working and the hot water was never working. Sometimes it was hard to be smooth with the personnel, especially at the bar.
