Dalat Mr Peace Backpacker's Hotel

Lovely family run hostel, they look after you so well from the minute you get there and are always there to help with anything you need. Organising a tour of Da Lat (we had a personal one with Mr Peace himself), onward travel, advice of the best places to eat. They put on free breakfast (great for saving money) a ‘family’ dinner every night and everyone just stays after to have drinks so it’s super sociable, there’s great vibe and their two little girls are an absolute delight. Clean and tidy dorms, we even had a balcony which was super cute — safe to say we loved our stay!

Was the friendliest place I stayed in my month in Vietnam. A true gem of a hostel I couldn't recommend it more, the staff could not have been more helpful.

My stay mister Peace's hostel was very pleasant. He genuinely cares a lot about his guests and apologized several times for an inconvenience that happened at night that wasn't even his fault at all. The staff is very helpful and sometimes seem even overly helpful. But this is still better than having staff that doesn't care at all, so it was all good :) one minor inconvenience were the construction workers that were literally on the other side of the road and were extra noticeable because of the bathroom not having a window so it was extra loud. But, this was not the hostels fault so I don't take it into consideration. All and all a very pleasant stay! Thanks mister peace!

Super friendly hostel, to the extent that you're greeted with a hug! Very social as hosts offer home cooked dinners and there's also a bar. Rooms were clean and spacious.

This place is awesome if you want to meet people, drink cheap beer and just relax. Mr Peace & co is super friendly! We arrived at 3:30 am because the night bus from HCMC arrived way to early and we still got a room! Thats awesome! You can rent a Scooter (five bugs) and visit some nice places or go Canyoning for about 50$. For me it was both a great experience. I really feel like Mr Peace really cares about you and wants you to feel like home. I highley recommend this hostel! Peace ;)

The worst place concerning treating guest I have ever stayed in more than 8 months in South East Asia. Owner "hugged" me when I arrived and was touching me all the time which is not normal for Vietnam and made me feel very uncomfy. They accused me of not having paid (which I´m 100% sure I did) and yelled at me to pay again plus threatened me with "we have cameras". The utmost rude employees I have ever met. Yelling at me and pulling my shirt and pushing me around. I paid twice because I didnt want trouble. They also threatened and insulted me via email when I reported this incident to Agoda. Avoid at any cost! There are much nicer and better hostels in Da Lat. I really have no clue how other travellers perceive the staff as friendly. If you don´t book their tours, they get really rude which made me feel very uncomfortable.

The best place I've stayed at through all my travelling everyone is so happy and welcoming wish I could have stayed longer, family dinner was the best.

Mr. Peace and his wife strawberry are wonderful. So much fun and their kids are adorable. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Dalat is great and Mr. Peace is even better! The family dinners are fantastic, we got to meet so many social fellow backpackers.

This great little place had a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The owners hug you and genuinely appear to care about you. Mr Peace lovingly jokes with his guests and does a lot to make sure your day is going well. We were staying there during the Tet holiday, so everything seemed a bit hectic and disorganized, however. They had a sign saying they were sorry that they were short on staff due to Tet, and that they promised they were not mad at us, just busy. Even so, there were too many people — even two westerners that were guests — that were handling money transactions and there seemed to be no communication between any of them. One of the guys that was a guest even tried to process our check out and it made me very uncomfortable. So I refused and said I would wait for the owner so I knew that it would be properly handled and documented. I also wasn't super excited about the booking if our onward transportation from there. The woman who works the desk in the morning helped us, and she just said "yes" to all of our concerns about the bus, saying she was trying to make everything easy and better for us. None of what she said "yes" to ended up being true. We did get safely to our next destination, but not on the kind of bus that she said we would, and at a much more inflated cost than the actual company quoted us later. Hopefully all of these confusions had to due with the Tet, because it was an awesome spot.

They really make you feel like family here. I stayed for a few days and was invited to a lunch with the family, when I left we exchanged some simple gifts. They really care about their guests and the hostel itself is awesome for meeting people for Solo travellers. The family dinner is the best I've had.

Great hostel very social atmosphere but plenty of quiet areas if you wanna rest. Family dinner is only 50k and the amount of food is stellar, perfect way for solo travellers to organise groups and chat. Mr Peace and all the staff are wonderful. Will have to come back if I'm in Dalat.

Nice hostel, nice owners. Easy to meet other backpackers. Everyone who works here is super friendly. You can book activities in the hostel, I did the mr. Peace tour. In half a day you see a lot of the city. I really can recommend it! And go out for a hike. It's not that easy (I Iike that), but you'll enjoy the amazing view at the top. Zennnnn. Last but not least: go for the family diner. Thank you all!

Mr Peace has been a really nice hostel to stay in dalat. It feels like being home, you are so warmly welcome and taken cared of. It has everything you need, happy hours everynight to share beers with others and have a good time. I highly recommand this hôtel and only for 5 dollars…

Stayed in 6beds dorm, humid and smells humid, old mattress badly deformed but slept well. Bathroom had only night light. Excellent hot shower. 10 pm is silence. From 7.30 AM is disco beat. Later softer music. Worst coffee in 2 months of Vietnam, very good tea. Breakfast is fried egg, bread, pancake. Felt tricked about the motorbike rent, which for the usual price of 24 hours turned to be a 10 hours rent. The manager is an icebreaker and exposes himself to a good laugh, triggers ambience and socializing. Some people might find is behaviour, in particular physical, inappropriate. Left to another hostel.

Perfect hostel for socializing. Mr Peace is the best, he is super social and friendly, as is all the staff. Family dinner is great, always fun people staying there, and they offer great activities and tours for guests. Go to the Maze Bar at night! It's amazing.

Probably the most welcoming hostel I have ever been to, fantastic dinner great break fast and great price.

I cannot say a lot about the hostel itself, because we did not sleep there. However, Mr Peace organized a motorbike trip around Da Lat for us and it was really amazing. The drivers were professional, we felt safe at all times. They spoke good English. We visited at least 10 different spots: waterfalls, plantations, villages, factories etc. And at the end they dropped us off at the airport, right in front of the terminal. I totally recommend.

The hostel itself is very good. Although the reason this gets a 5 star is because of Mr. Peace, he doesn't only provide a good hostel but he provides you with an experience. Never have I seen someone run a hostel with so much enthusiasm and dedication! A must go if you want to have a good time in Dalat.

Great place to stay at. Make sure you give Mr. Peace a kick in the balls for me if you see him. He's a crazy man. Beds are the comfiest I've had on my travels (6 bed mixed). Okay party atmosphere it depends on the crowd. Everyone drinks then goes to Maze and Rain. Family dinner is dope. Do it. Only downside for this bar is that you have to purchase your drink downstairs and get it upstairs. Its a bit backwards.

Really nice semi-party hostel with rooftop for hanging out and an awesome staff. Tips: sign up for the family dinner, you get to meet a lot of travellers from other dorms over a nice home-cooked meal.

For my meaning the best hostel where I stand in whole Vietnam! I can definitely recommend it! Great stuff's special vibes here! Go in share u love and u will harvest what u sow! I will miss u guys!

This place is a gem. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel at home. The family dinners are great. This is a must visit for Da lat.

This is the craziest, happiest, friendliest place that I've visited in DaLat, Vietnam and SEA. The owner is an eccentric Vietnamese man who will sing, dance and even edit photos with you. The beds are average, but with plenty of baggage storage space underneath and even a personal locker by the bed. Fantastic common areas with comfy chairs and quirky decor. The staff are happy to help you book tours (the $38 canyoning tour is a MUST) and even helped us arrange a last minute sleeper bus to HCMC. Come here for a quirky, friendly atmosphere that will make you regret your all-too short time in DaLat.

This is definitely the friendliest place we've stayed in the whole of Vietnam :) the family and staff are incredibly welcoming, and we had a great time on the easy rider countryside tour with Smiley and Frank. Our room was a bit damp when we entered, but after some time with the fan on it was much better. The family dinner was really nice, and a great opportunity to meet people in the hostel! Would definitely recommend for anyone staying in Dalat.

Stayed here because of recommendations from other travellers and good reviews but was kinda disappointed. The staff was okay. Family dinner is actually just the backpackers eating together and the worst thing was the 12am curfew. We weren't even allowed to use the balcony after 10pm. The 4 bed dorms are nothing special. Squeaky beds and broken night lights. I got locked out of the room one night and the Mr. Peace couldn't find a spare key so I had to share a bed with a nice stranger who offered to share his private room.

The best Hostel on my travels. So friendly and helpfully, I got the feeling of beeing at home after 10 minutes :) I wished I had more time here… The family dinner was awsome and the bars, we went with Mr. Peace as well. Thanks for everything =)

Mr Peace is the most friendly & most hospitable person you'll ever meet! Great hostel full of great people. You can't stay anywhere better in Da lat.

This is the first time during four months of travelling that I felt unsafe sleeping in a hostel. Mr Peace seemed like a warm and friendly place, but things seemed to change when I decided to book a tour with a compagnie which didn't belong to the backpackers house. Mr Peace told me that he was dissapointed with me that I didnt trust his compagnie but he was glad that we could talk about this. However, a day later during the pub crawl, he approached me again about this topic. Things got freaky when he came really close to me and whispered in my ear: "I hate you. " I was stunned, and felt it wasn't safe anymore to stay in his neighbourhood, so I decided to go home directly. I didn't sleep at all that night as I was feeling not safe in this place. The next day I checked out immediately. This message is not menth to a personal attack or anything of that kind, but I hope I can warn people with this. As I've read other reviews, Mr Peace will probably give a reaction denying this story, but I still want to share what happened here, because this is not OK.

The best hostel that you can find in Vietnam, Mr Peace and the family are amazing and the atmosphere is great. They help us for everything and made everything easy to organize. Cheap clean and beautiful!

Mr Peace is amazing! We had such a nice time in his hostel. He Give good advice for everything, the vibe are so positive and the rooms are clean. The best hostel in Vietnam!
