Beds are comfy and there is good ac in the dorms. The breakfast provided is good. But the toilets and showers always smelled bad and weren't cleaned often enough, and they didn't have most of the things on the menu when we wanted to order.

The beds were comfortable and that is the only thing this place has going for it. The staff member straight up lied to me on the first day of my 3 nights here, I asked for a bottom bunk he told me there were none in my room, every night of my stay the bottom bunk was available. The bathrooms haven't been cleaned in years and only 2 of the 4 showers worked. The Wi-Fi didn't work anywhere but the lobby and the free breakfast is horrible, if you make it down before 9am.

Great location close to all amenities. Staff are fab as they treat you as you treat them. Three types of dorms with super beds, hot showers, laundry service and personal locker, plus a good choice of breakfast all for $5 or $6 a night depending on dorm. This is my opinion I have stayed here on four occasions totaling over a hundred nights and I wouldn't stay in any other hostel on Cat Ba island.

This place is alright, it’s at the end of the pier so it’s easy to find. However if you do not like being around smokers/smoke, one of the workers here smokes NONSTOP and it wafts all the way up the stairs to the rooms. I was in the 3rd floor and as soon as I stepped out into the hallway, it’s like he was blowing it into my face. My room had a very musty smell and there was never any toilet paper in the bathrooms. The floors were always wet and gross in the shower room which also had toilets in it. The Wi-Fi would also randomly stop working and they would have to come upstairs to restart the modem. Can’t really recommend this place. Only good thing here was the boat tour, which you don’t even have to stay here to get. It was just $13 and does exactly what every other tour along Halong Bay does.

What an amazing place to stay! 5/5 but would give 10 if I could. First of all, James the owner, as well as the head mamager/receptionship will give you first class service as well as respect and kindness. Every time the people I was with as well as myself, when we asked for something it got resolved and sorted almost immediately, and if not they busted their asses to make it happen. Very comfy beds, clean and tidy amenities, and a good bar with cheap, strong drinks! For the money it cost per night I would have happily paid double what they charged. When I go back will undoubtedly stay here again! Thanks CatBa Central Host! Made our thime there feel like we were part of yoiur family!

Well, the staff are friendly, but good luck with a good night sleep in a 20+ Person dorm, and breakfast that ends at 9am which isn’t that good, ie. Rice, greasy noodles, and pork gruel. It also seems to be prime neighborhood for dogs barking all night and big trucks doing some sort of something at 4am right outside. It’s $6 a night which feels kind of expensive for what you get. If you’re traveling with a group, might as well get a double or triple at another hotel for the same price. There isn’t much of a social scene here at the hostel, despite so many people in one room.

Very nice Hotel at night, at the time of check out, he didn't want to give us the bail of 300000 for my key because we didn't keep the ticket. I really do not advise you!

Normally I don't write reviews or am I disappointed by a hostel since you pay a small price for a bed. The hostel itself was fine, enough toilets en bathrooms and it was as clean as you can expect in Asia. The staff however was a nightmare that doesn't know how to smile or talk in a normal way to guests. When I asked about information at the tour desk I got the reply to look it up online and she refused to help me. If you look for a place in the center of Cat Ba and hate people as much as the staff there you should definitely go!

The hostel was very clean and well located — staff were helpful and the breakfast was great. Lockers were a good size. Definitely a good place to explore Cat ba from!

Had a twin room for 14$. Staff were very helpful in arranging good value tours. Great value for money.

Nice place for the price. Breakfast incl. Young brothers who run the place. My room was nice but my fellow's had problem with AC and ants. Staff helpful with renting motorcylce and day tour on a boat.

Very nice hotel. Room was clean and comfortable with a lot of space. The breakfast was very good also, with many options in the menu. Staff had a perfect English and was very polite. Location was great, just a few meters from the bars and restaurants street. We booked everything with them: day tour and bus-ferry-bus to Hanoi. This was very useful.

Mattress very hard! I slept very badly. Breakfast is scarce. Hire excursion and everything went well.

The breakfast is poor, bed extremely hard. The air was not. Would not come back. Outside of that it was clean and the tour we got there was excellent.

We stayed in a private room for 3 nights which was fairly clean but had a musky mouldy smell, unfortunately we didn't sleep well in either beds in our room as the mattresses were so lumpy and hard and the air conditioning was very noisy! The staff were friendly and helped plan onwards travel. I probably wouldn't stay in the private rooms again here but have heard good things about the dorms (plus you get a free breakfast which the private room didn't offer)

They stole u$d900 from my backpack, I was on a private room, and they did not recognize me anything.

Was nice and cozy. The staff were nice, and the breakfast that includes in the price is not very tasty. We slept in a room and also in the dorms and both were nice, private and clean.

Without a doubt of the best hotels I have ever been to. Exquisite attention. A treatment very nice. Hire a kayak tour and a visit to a part of the halong bay a hit with them. Amazing hostel. Great staff. Freezing cold aircon and warm thick blankets if that's not your thing. The view from the dorm is incredible. The value is the best I've seen by a mile ($5 USD for a bed including breakfast in the AM). James is super-nice, as is all the staff. They'll go out of their way to understand what you need and deliver. They take feedback from reviews seriously (a few prev. Reviews mentioned mold, but they were fixing things while I was there). James takes care of bookings if you're looking for tours. Highly recommended!

One of the best hostel I've stayed in in Vietnam. Super cheap and a lot of fun. Great staff and fun environment. Tour organizer Du James is one of the best. Very cheap tours around Halong Bay and tickets to every place in Vietnam. He even looked out after my bike for 3 days while I was in Sapa. Bottom line, it's the best hostel in Cat Ba especially if you're traveling alone like me.

The location is excellent. The staff are helpful and friendly. Dorms are clean and spacious. Breakfast is basic but good. Wifi connection is very poor and premises do not have a lift.

Nice value location in the middle of the old quarter, Needs a bit of a tidy up, but overall good service, decent size rooms, and right in the heart of the town.
