First thing I noticed when I entered the lobby was a guest who was carrying her suitcase down the long flight of stairs that lead into the lobby. Clearly there was no elevator and guests were doing the heavy lifting. Not a good first sign.
I was assigned a room on the 3rd floor in this elevator-free building. I can handle stairs but imagine if I couldn't. I would have been screwed, especially if the rooms were all booked.
When I entered the room, I was delighted because the room looked newly constructed as I could smell the scent of new lumber. Everything looked great and then I sat on the bed. Hard. As. A. Rock. The floor would have been a softer sleeping surface. My friend, who was in another room but on the 2nd floor, said the same about her bed. Bad news was that we were going to be staying for two nights. I sent my friend a photo of my spacious room and she said that her room looked nothing like mine and she joked that we were staying at two different hotels.
I also need to comment on a glaring issue in the bathroom and that is the placement of the hair dryer. The issue is that there was no outlet for it. The nearest outlet was on the other side of the large mirror but the cord was too short to reach it. It was affixed to the wall so it couldn't be moved.
Now let's talk about the men at the reception desk. They weren't exactly trained in customer service nor did they have a welcoming demeanor.
