Stayed for two nights and it was great. Pleasant large room with luggage rack and table and chairs and access to central courtyard. Clean pleasant bathroom and good air con — essential during our stay! Very pleasant dining room in basement with skylight. Plenty of choice and helpful staff. Excellent location for all the local attractions. ATM next door and garden restaurant which was excellent. Convenience store a few minutes away. One of the best places we stayed in Uzbekistan.
This was the third hotel on our Jules Verne tour of Uzbekistan, and we stayed here for 3 nights. Based on previous reviews, we were not expecting too much from this hotel, but it turned out to be absolutely fine. The overall style of the hotel is nice, the staff on reception were very helpful and the location (just across the road from the start of the Lyabi Hauz pedestrian area) was ideal for a short stay. The ‘Chalet’ restaurant across the road ended up being our ‘go to’ place for food and drink in Bukhara too.
We were put in Room 203, on the first floor, overlooking the inner courtyard and with a communal balcony directly outside but, unlike previous reviewers, we thankfully didn’t have any issues with guests partying until the small hours. There was a persistent hum in the room though (which wasn’t the fridge or air-con), but it was easy enough to block that out with earplugs. The room was a good size with old-fashioned decoration and furnishings, which felt consistent with the design of the building (although we later found out that the building itself is less than 20 years old! ). The air conditioning worked ok, and we didn’t need it at night, despite the warm temperatures whilst we were in Bukhara. The main area that let the room down was the bathroom, which had a large patch of mould that was obvious to both the eye and the nose. There were some minor issues with water temperature for the shower, but nothing serious.

I was a big fan of this place. The location is very good, its an easy walk to the market area and if you head in the opposite direction there is a small minimarket nearby if you need a pepsi or a pack of smokes. Just outside the hotel is an atm that you can actually exchange dollars for Som at, (check the rate but when I exchanged it was fairly competitive) and there are some good places to eat nearby. It looks like an old house but I believe its not actually old but its very atmospheric in the hotel, there are lots of artifacts and there is a pleasant indoor courtyard with a balcony above. Reception were very helpful, (floor can be a bit slippy so be careful) and the seating area in reception is nice. Special mention to the breakfast room staff also as they were nice. Decent range of breakfast foods.
My room was good, I loved the heated floor and the shower was very refreshing. I do like a rainfall shower. I also liked the skylight as that let in a nice amount of ambient light in the morning. If I am back in Bukhara I would stay here again.
