The Devonshire Dumpling

We have a long car and parked in the free public carpark across the road, as our car tended to overhang the main road. I had a Fish, chips & garden peas, my partner the Five bean Curry, the food came quickly and a good price about £14 per meal. (I think) My Fish was moist, batter crispy, chips skins on, crispy not dry, peas not the best shade of green, but tasted OK. Portion size big, I ate it all but it was tasty and I was hungry. Bar maid & waitress smiling and polite, I would happily recommend to others. Andy.

The waitress who served us was really nice I would recommend coming here.

Stayed here for one night on a walking holiday. Fine place. Room, Service, breakfast, Wi-Fi all very solid.

Nice place, but lousy customer service.
I will go back and this hopefully I will get served.
I have been before, and it was really nice, but the last time I was there, the guy behind the bar just didn't want to know.

Took a mate for lunch on Wednesday we had pulled pork it was lovely highly recomend thanks guys xxxxx.

Phoned for Sunday lunch and they fitted us in with the grandkids and the food was really nice. We will definitely use this establishment again.

Very friendly pub/restaurant, relaxed atmosphere. Very welcoming with dogs 🐕. Food was outstanding.

We went for a dinner at the Devonshire Dumpling, driven past it many times but not stopped before.
Glad we did this time though, the food was excellent, although starters had quite a lot of garlic dish options, but the mains you couldn't falter.
Service was great and very cheery, it's a spacious area and the loos were very clean.
Gluten free options weren't massive, but as said the food quality and range was very very good.
Parking is out the front and there's a side garden that children could play safely in.
Overall a great place for dinners and possibly to stay? I'll definitely be going back for another dinner, value was great and not over priced which is helpful too.

Lovely country pub converted to restaurant. Gorgeous food, very reasonable prices with great service.

As always, this pub provided a wonderful selection of meals for us today. They catered for the 26 of us in our group, supplying a range of excellent meals running between spicy chicken fajitas, venison casserole, crab cakes, curry's, fish and chips, smoky Joe's chicken, steak and mushroom pie and belly of pork. All were great and served very rapidly considering the number of us there. It is well worth eating here.

We went twice during a week away. Dog friendly, big portions and lovely staff up for a chat. Will definitely be back next time we're around there.

Delicious starter of king prawns, beautifully presented. Roaring log fire, friendly service. Highly recommend.

We had a lovely lunch here, nice food, pleasant ambience, much nicer than the outside would indicate. Very convenient on a main road, but quiet and comfortable inside. Good service. Loved the venison stew.

Amazing home cooked food! A real hidden gem definitely recommend!

Placemats were wet and dirty despite us arriving at opening time. Traditional pub food was nice (roast and burger) but the curry was clearly chip shop premix and the veg and rice both overcooked. A lot of food tasted like they were bought frozen. Very disappointing low quality food for gastro pub prices.

Highly recommend the hospitality of this pub. We were a large group of 8 adults, 5 children and dogs. We decided last minute (Sunday morning) that we fancied lunch before we headed home. The host was able to accomodate, many resturants that we called could'nt. We had two large tables, one for the adults and one for children. The children were given colouring and other activities and the dogs were allowed in too. We really appreciated the service received, very child friendly. The food was wholesome and reasonsbly priced too. Thanks again team, good customer service, goes a long way.

Turned up wet and cold after a walk across Dartmoor (we cheated and caught the train from Yeoford to miss the last few miles! ). Welcome warm, rooms comfortable, dinner good. Recommended stop on the Two Moors Way.
