Sina Village Hotel

5 stars for the project but 1 star for the Sina Village accommodation. This place shouldn't be on booking or Airbnb. It is a very beautiful and charming place, the huts are traditional and it is fun to stay there for a night or two. Nevertheless, the whole accommodation part is really bad. First of all, it is too expensive for what you get. Ok, you support the project by staying there, that's good, but at least mention stuff like: no showers, no real toilets, no power sockets to recharge your things, no decent food… Be clear. Secondly, the woman managing the huts was not the friendliest. On multiple times we felt like she was trying to get as much money out of us as possible. The food she got us maybe cost one tenth of what is should cost. A 14000 ugx breakfast for two included 2 eggs and a few slices of bread. Money in the pocket seemed more important than making sure the guests are happy. Once again, the Sina project is wonderful but get things right. This could have been a great place if thing would have been handled differently.

The Social Innovations Academy (SINA) is an amazing community located on a very beautiful hill in Mpigi district. The creative design of the entire campus from buildings to pathways and signs. They have huge parking spaces, a small small beautifully designed canteen, an Art and Crafts showroom and a campus living room. The whole place is artistic and beautiful.

It is a quite self learning place which leave surprised.

It's a very quite and good place surrounded by creative and innovations of the Social Innovation Academy.

Not lectures BUT facilitators, Not students BUT scholars… No CEO, No Accountant, No Manager this, No Manager that…! Doesn’t that sound good? SINA has a unique model in which scholars gain knowledge and skills by working hand in hand with facilitators in learning groups to run all the operations of the center. Scholars are each given a mentor and coach to journey with them in the development of their individual projects nurturing innovative ideas into social enterprises. It’s inspiring to see the energy and dedication that characterizes this community. For volunteers in search of a life-changing experience, I highly recommend SINA because is a warm, welcoming, inclusive and unique work environment. As for me, it’s a place where I find inner happiness because it’s aligned with my purpose of making a difference in people’s lives. I invite you to visit and contribute in the making of this young generation of entrepreneurs.

A one of a kind academy, SINA, is an excellent place for anyone to experience. Fostering project based learning and creating opportunities by using skills and the initiative of its members, this is less an organisation and more a community. Feel free to leave your misconceptions and stodgy way of thinking at the door-step and you will be surprised by all that you can learn. And unlearn! I had the opportunity to be a part of this dynamic atmosphere for 3 weeks and it was an amazing experience. I would love to go again and see all the amazing people I've interacted with, and super excited about the change that I am sure that they will create.

I had the fortune to participate as a Project Based Learning facilitator with the scholars and staff of SINA. It is one of the most inspirational and powerful experiences I have in recent memory. Their work in innovating education is extremely important not only for Uganda, but Africa and the rest of the world! I have never felt that I belonged to a community so quickly in my life and I can't wait to go back and see their amazing work! SINA I miss all of you everyday!

"Skills development and entrepreneurship beyond education" is the motto of this exciting learning environment. Driven by intrinsic motivation people are learning together in this place from each other. Not only an exiting educational but also a social experience. Highly recommended :-)
