Rooms generally good, clean but not spotless. Bed okay but not the best, but then we are used to memory foam, and the noise from the courtyard outside our room from staff woke me between 5-6 am on both mornings of our stay — not ideal. However, staff were great any other time — nothing was too much trouble, location fantastic, and generally the hotel was welcoming, friendly and homely. A good 3 star. I would return but would ask for a room away from the courtyard/kitchen end.

Ok so it was one of the hottest days of the year, and with out aircon my room right at the top of the hotel was very stuffy even with the fan going, but you can not do much about that. However the evening meal menu was fantastic, great selection, I ate in the garden and had splendid service. Breakfast was an equally smashing affair. Well done guys lovely food and service.

We stayed for a night while picking my son up from York university, having previously enjoyed a midweek 4 night stay here in January. We were lucky enough to be upgraded and the room was large and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was plentiful with good quality ingredients. Didn't use the bar or restaurant on this occasion as we ate/drank with my son in the city centre but did so when we stayed last time — and can recommend both the quality and preparation of food, as well as the service received from staff on site. Would have loved to stay again when we return to York for graduation but prices unfortunately too high due to York races being on that week.

Lovely hotel, clean and well maintained. Staff were friendly and helpful. Plenty of car park space. Bus into York centre just outside the hotel.

Location is great, just outside the centre, the room is great… No more than we need, but not too small, and the food has been great! Potentially a little pricey for what it is, but a very comfortable stay!

Visited here to attend a wedding and night do. Fab ceremony and meal with fine food great service. Highly recommended.

Paid for four poster bed room £160 a night. Room was very small.! Over priced I think.

Stayed for a family wedding. A beautiful period setting four poster bed large Bath room. The staff made you feel welcome nothing was to much trouble breakfast was relaxed and great value. Will we stay again definitely. From Darren & Lesley Slattery.

I got a bargain price and a room upgrade so visit started well. Comfortable room with decent Wi-Fi connection. Food was reasonably priced and very tasty. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Will stay here again.

It's very quaint, cosy and traditional. Staff were friendly for the most part always most attentive on occasion. The rooms are all original and different which is great. The carpets were showing a little sign of age if I was being picky. There was a great Power shower in the en suite just watch though as the bath fills up. Fantastic breakfast however masses of choice and all cooled fresh.

Absolutely brilliant! Immaculate, well appointed and decorated rooms. We had twin room on ground floor with walk-in shower, perfect for my daughter who's disabled. Friendly staff. Marvellous little courtyards. Great breakfast. Great attention to detail. Would recommend.

Great Christmas dinner in a private dining room. Excellent food and service. A great time had by all of us.

Very picturesque Hotel, nice and well kept rooms although dated, the only flaw for which I do not give the 5 stars is that in the bathroom, the faucets are still divided x hot and cold water and it is a little difficult to mix the water if not filling the Sink. We also ate in the restaurant and the food was good, prices are average high, though, overall it deserves. Staff really nice and helpful, buffet breakfast, if not for some dishes to be ordered once a Card.

Good location, limited parking but did not have problem finding a space. Room clean but in need of updating. Several broken floor tiles in bathroom, stained carpets and leaking taps. Good size bed and comfy. Booked deluxe room, but was in my opinion more standard. Had breakfast on two mornings, very poor quality, uncooked food and buffet not replenished, did complain to duty manager and food was removed from bill. Staff very pleasant.

A great place to stay, to relax over a good meal, at the bar. For parties, business meetings, larger social events, there is not detail left to chance. You can walk into York easily, or take a bus, or a taxi. Not many hotels combine old world charm (and sledge hammer character) with hyper up-to-date ideas. Staff great. I had absolutely zero complaints.

Excellent hotel, very short distance from downtown York, has parking and we ordered a room that had separate kitchenette from the bedroom, large bathroom and great Wi-Fi Internet signal.

Good comfortable room and great food. Only concern was that the room originally allocated was directly above the function room where a wedding was due to take place. We were eventually moved to a quiet part of the hotel.

We were made welcome and received good service. I would have preferred to have been consulted before being allocated an apartment across the busy road. Breakfast was excellent with efficient service.

It was a lovely hotel. The room was nice and clean. The night and early morning staff was very helpful. I will recommend this hotel.

Absolutely fabulous. Very peaceful, very, very comfortable bed, huge bathroom, and very luxurious furniture. Even similar to a four poster bed. Staff very polite courteous and helpful and very high standard of food and meal presentation. Altogether a very pleasant experience. Thank you.

Hotel is a great location and parking on site is a great asset. Apparently our room was an upgraded room. We did have the four poster bed. This was very high to get into and my wife and I did not sleep at all well on this mattress. My wife did mention this upon checking out and was told the last people to stay there said they slept well! Stairs leading down to bathroom could easily be a hazard. Room very small. I don't think this room is an upgrade at all. Room 2. Breakfast was very good and staff polite. We will not be booking this hotel again.

At first we were given very pokey room. In attic really. Very musty. Very dated. Was very disappointed. Spoke to manager though and she couldn't have been more helpful. Were shown two rooms and allowed to choose the one we liked best. Transformed our opinion of the place. Very nice second room. Not large but well proportioned and laid out. Lovely courtyard outside. Very nice hotel on one side. Glad we didn't have to stay on other side though… felt like a different hotel!

Very good hotel, breakfast was A1. Wedding food was very good. Bar is well kept. Rooms were clean, some very minor maintenance issues. On the whole a very good hotel stay, would recommend.

For a 3* hotel it's well worth a 5* rating. Staff are excellent, rooms fine and food good — great breakfast selection. Only one issue for me, beds are too soft/springy but that's a personal preference.

I attended a friend's wedding at the Pavilion and it was brilliant. The staff were super helpful and they did a fab job organizing everything. We really enjoyed ourselves.

Lovely hotel. Set in an old ivy covered building, this hotel has lovely internal decor as well. The restaurant and bar serve nice food and cakes. Rooms are well decorated and clean with plenty of character. Would recommend.

Old country house style hotel with a very nice garden courtyard. Friendly and helpful staff. Car parking was available but no spaces left although it was probably particularly busy due to local events — however, parking on the road outside was easy enough. Fairly close to the town v centre. Reasonably priced. Would recommend and we would stay there again.

Nice hotel with very cosy rooms. Very nice and friendly staff. Wedding on the day we checked in, was a little noisy until midnight, but not too bad. In our room we had two photos of young girls. Was pretty strange and wierd to have someone else's daughter stare at us in bed, we covered the photos up.

Hotel is generally fine with ample parking. Wi-Fi is very poor but free. Got told breakfast was included free when I checked in but when I checked out after breakfast the next day they charged me £7 for it and refused to accept I was told otherwise.

Really enjoyed my stay at the Pavilion hotel, lovely room with 4 poster bed. Staff were friendly and polite. Excellent breakfast. Only issue was the room was a bit to warm so had to have b the window open all night.

Hotel was nice. Car park was a muddy mess and they had weddings both nights we stayed, but we stayed in a quiet part of the hotel and didn't hear much at all. Breakfast was lovely, and overall I'd stay there again.

Average modern hotel, breakfast good but cool full English due to self service style. Dinner expensive and small portions. Free Wi-Fi but I couldn't access it.

My wife and I have just returned from York after staying at the Best Western York Pavilion Hotel for 5 nights it was very good except when I booked it through an agent I was not informed that I had booked the room only and not with breakfast and evening meal, I questioned this when I got there and they offered us breakfast at £7 each per day = £70 original price £14.95 each per day (shocked) now dinner the price of the menu we thought we were in the city of London not Fulford York, I asked if there was a deal and the reply was no. If I had booked it on line we would have both got £25 each per day towards our evening meal but they would not upgrade our booking so we had to eat out. The walls and floors are very thin we could hear talking in the next room also the people above passing water.

My husband and I stayed here with a group of friends on the weekend of 18th January, 2014. All of us agreed that the hotel was lovely, quirky, with individually styled rooms, Our room was very comfortable and warm. The bathroom was clean with a lovely power shower. The staff were helpful and friendly although we never ate there the comments from those who did were favourable. Situated only a couple of miles from the city centre it was ideal for what we needed. I would recommend this hotel, and would definitely stay there again if we are ever in York.

Got married here. Perfect day staff spot on! Will definately be back.
