Wonderful little hotel, only a short stroll from the minster. Friendly service and good rates.

Lovely, clean and friendly hotel. About 10 minutes walk from town. Delicious breakfast. They even left me a card and balloons for my birthday. Highly recommend.

Stay last night booked it as a surprise for my husbands 50th birthday and we were not disappointed nice room, lovely staff and great breakfast we will definitely stay here again thank you.

Lovely wee hotel, great location. Enjoyed the short walk to and from center of York twice a day. Felt less guilty eating and drinking with the walking. Lol. If someone can't walk it there are buses and taxis which aren't expensive so no need for complaints there. Big thanks to Ben & Emma for going out there way to look after us.

Everyone here is over my expectation. The service, room facility and even mini bar (with two soft drinks, one beer and a bottle of wine. ) also, there is one coffee machine. I like this place!

Hotel Noir is a good hotel and well priced for what it provides. Location looks out of town but it is not if you use buses, or happy to walk 20 mins. Beds are very comfortable and rooms are quiet, clean and linen is fresh and it serves dinner with good choice of menu if you want to eat in. Staff are friendly and helpful. One "but" no lifts and stairs are a bit awkward, don't hesitate to ask for assistance if you are not confident.

Lovely. Friendly staff. Bus ride to town 7mins. Would definately come again and book the Noir. Really cannot fault it. 5 Stars from me.

Great value small hotel in walking distance of city. Our room was compact but warm (had to turn off rads) and comfy. Evening meal excellent as was breakfast. Gluten-free options. Staff very efficient and helpful (they dealt effectively with noisy couple in room above). What could have been better? Maybe hooks for coats and remove ironing board from built-in wardrobe. Because it was long, it stood at angle so reducing hanging space.

Breakfast was brilliant, the room was little hot but we did select compact room would return but go for double room next time. Originally was three star but stayed again over Easter upgraded review. Pleasant stay will book again but double room.

Always nice to stay here. Room was clean and had everything we needed. Staff were very polite and the breakfast had lots to offer.

What a lovely place. Lovely rooms, friendly staff, great food. The bar area could do with some new sofas, but I had a great time.

A hidden gem. Really nice room clean and felt special. Breakfast was delicious we wished we had tried the evening menu. About 15mins walk into York centre along one road easy. Loved the mini bar and Tassimo in the room. Def would stay again.

Would be good if it had shuttle to train station. Also would be good if they had Bingo and speed dating. Also no option for chinese food. I love chinese Forgot to mention I liked the black Russians but not sex on the beach.

Well situated and appointed hotel. Limited parking. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast and evening meals. 15 minute walk into the main shopping area of York.

A very nice hotel, the rooms are well equipped, mine had a small fridge with complimentary drinks selection. Food in the restaurant is great and well priced. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Overall a great place to stay.

Stayed here twice in 18 months.
Lovely hotel with friendly staff and walking distance to all the attractions of York. The first time we stayed we were in room 205, lovely spacious room with a huge bed and large bathroom. The 2 nights we have just stayed was in room 431, the room was much smaller with a standard double bed but big enough for what we needed (out all day so only there at night). The only complaint I would have was the mattress was solid and uncomfortable. When checking out we mentioned this and the member of staff explained it was a new mattress and had we mentioned it they would have looked into finding us another room (can’t ask for more than that). We ate in the restaurant on one of the nights, amazing is all I can say. All in all lovely hotel and very reasonably priced and will definitely be visiting again.

Location was nice — close enough to the city but far enough that it wasn't too crowded or noisy. Rooms were lovely, very comfortable with all the amenities you'd need. Staff was more than accommodating as well!

Great place, friendly staff, big and bright room with comfy bed. We had a quiet night and slept well. It was our second stay here and we will definitely be back again.

Stayed here last night, great hotel very clean, staff friendly and food very nice. Great location to York city centre. Will stay here again.

150 pound for a room with no main light, only a lamp. When I complained to staff she told me all she could do was get me another lamp. She never came back with one. Room was tiny with a view of a brick wall. You couldn't open the cupboard because the bed was in the way.
By far the worst hotel I've stayed in… and I've stayed in Blackpool.

The room was fantastic. Didn't require anything that wasn't already there. Food was lovely. Except for the scallops. I hadn't tried them before so thought I would give them a try. It looked like someone had chopped up a small mushroom. There wasn't enough there to decide whether I like them or not. The other meals were fine. Staff really friendly and helpful. Would recommend. Just avoid the scallops.

My husband and I stayed the night hear last night for our first wedding anniversary. Everything was perfect. The Hotel is lovely, we stayed in a room with a huge four poster bed, there was a corner bath and a coffee machine we also loved the little extras, chocolate, mini bar and dressing gown and slippers. My husband arrange for champagne to be in our room which was there with a box of chocolate and rose petals over the bed for when we arrived. We also received an anniversary card from the staff at the hotel which was lovely! We would highly recommend this lovely hotel and we are definitely going to come back and stay again. The cooked breakfast was also a big winner. It was delicious.

Hotel is in a good location for a short walk into the centre. And their response to emails / requirements was efficient. The bathroom was small but nice with a good shower. However the shower seemed to have a leak along the bottom. The room was clean and compact as expected but the bed was a small double and extremely hard as were the pillows so not a comfy couple of nights. Not modern as described with poorly fitting carpets and a strange assortment of equipment, 2 kettles, 2 hair dryers… we were on the front so quite noisy and one of the light bulbs kept flashing on and off. Not friendliest of hotels little interaction from staff and was unable to mention lights to them as there was no one there to check us out instead the man serving in the bar area came over to quickly take my key without any pleasantries, needs more staff at checkout times. Love York, wouldn't stay there again.

Just left the hotel Noir and really enjoyed our stay. We had a standard twin room which was modern and spacious. The bathroom was small but adequate with a half decent shower. The room was well equipped with nice little extras such as a Tassimo coffee machine and a complimentary mini bar which was great. It also had decent free Wi-Fi which was a bonus. The location was about 10 minute walk from the city and it has a lovely butcher/bakers next door selling fresh roast/beef naps. Would definitely recommend and would stay again without a doubt. We paid roughly £176 for two of us for 3 nights which we found reasonable. One thing I would improve on though is the price of the breakfast. £12.50 per person is very expensive when you can get breakfast elsewhere for half the price. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Stayed for one night. Was clean and reasonably priced. Bed was actually quite comfy despite looking a bit hard on first sight. Only real complaint was the noise. Nothing excessive but the morning operation of guest and staff seemed to penetrate the bedroom quite loudly. Only brief interaction with staff but they seemed well mannered and helpful.

We absolutely love it cheer lovely hotel lovely staff. Free parking 10 min walk to york its self cheap drinks at the bar and nice food perfect.

Very pleasant staff. Descent quality Wi-Fi. Food is delicious. Room is a little worn and the walls are thin so sometimes you can hear the 'neighbours'. Rooms are also not very big but ok for a couple who will be seeing the sights or a work trip stay. Overall a good experience ☺️

Very disappointed with this hotel, got a totally different room that was shown on there website.
Payed extra for this room than I normally would and was expecting more to be honest.
The bed was of a poor quality but most disappointing was the en suite, it looked a mix and match and was left there from the 70's they might say it was retro? The shower in the bath was a tap mix and hard to get a pleasent temperature and when in use flooded the whole room! Toilet roll holder hanging down about to fall off, extractor fan never been cleaned! Wouldn't recommend this too anyone!

Nice overnight stay. Our room was on the top floor, and was quiet and clean. Staff were very pleasant and helpful when advising parking, as their car park was full.

Me and my wife stayed for one night on the 30th of April for our first anniversary. The hotel is in a fantastic location, with the city centre only a 10 minute walk away. We weren't able to check in until 2pm and we arrived early in the day. We asked if we were ok to leave our car in their car park while we spent the day in York and were told that it wasn't a problem. We were greeted in our hotel room with a card from the hotel staff for our anniversary which was a really nice touch. The room was perfect, comfy bed, really nice shower and complimentary tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Although we didn't eat at the hotel restaurant I had a look through the menu and the food prices looked reasonable. The bar had a great selection of cocktails which we enjoyed while we were waiting for our taxi into town (which the receptionist kindly organised for us). The taxi into town was cheap as the hotel is in such a good location. I would highly recommend this hotel to anybody and we will definitely be booking again for our anniversary next year.

Very impressed on first arrival till I realised we were on the top floor which was a bit of a nightmare but no reflection on the hotel itself. My boyfriend and I were there for a break so we'd booked a double compact room which in all honesty was really nice and big enough for the two of us. My boyfriend doesn't drink coffee so having just the tassimo in the room was a problem and I only like plain normal coffee so those options were not available to us. I feel that it's a very nice touch but guests should be given a choice. We did find a kettle in the cupboard but there were no supplies for us to have tea or just a normal coffee. I feel the hotel should maybe invest in a lift cause with my dodgy knees it was a massive problem for me. Apart from the stairs and the tassimo machine I would highly recommend this hotel.

I recently came here with my husband for our 10th anniversary 27/01/17 and left today. I didn't want to leave. We stayed in one of the four poster rooms. The room was lovely the bed was super comfortable. The added bonus of the bubbly, wine, beer, pop, water milk and truffles were lovely. The staff are very friendly and helpful and nothing's too much to ask. The breakfast is brilliant, fresh good quality and cooked to order and the coffee as I love my fresh coffee is not cheap nasty stuff you get in some hotels.
The hotel is in a safe area and only 20 min walk from the centre of town, so it's a nice walk. Thankyou for making our anniversary so special and hopefully we will be back with the children later in the year xx.

My partner and I stayed at Hotel Noir last night, it was a cheapy break with a "compact room" as we just wanted a base. When we checked in we opened the door to our room to find it was a Family room with plenty of space for the 2 of us. The staff were really helpful when we asked for more milk and having the tassimo machine was a nice treat, much nicer than a kettle and uht milk portions. Perfect location for a walk into York, and near enough for taxis at night. Will definitely book again.

Staff was great and very friendly, room was clean and tidy the postion of the TV meant you could only view it from one bed and not the other. Breakfast wasn't great.

Stopped at Hotel Noir now many times. Super location for city. Hotel has everything you need. Can't not fault.

Firstly id like to make everyone aware the staff are brilliant and very helpful — the food is well cooked and tasted very good. Most importantly the rooms are clean, tidy and very spacious. To top it off, York is a very nice place.

Friendly staff and fantastic four poster room. Well worth the money. Free parking and Wi-Fi included. Will definitely stay again.

I am a regular visitor to York, and found this hotel on LateRooms for £41.00. It turned out to be a real bargain! The room we booked was very clean, and well appointed. The monotone decor is a little dated but overall a decent place to stay. The free mini-bar is a nice touch. I have stayed in some rough places, but have to admit the Noir is one place I will definitely be going back to. The location is a little bit further out than is ideal (approx 20 mins walk to the city centre), but if you go via Homestead Park and pick up the river walkway by Clifton Bridge it is quite a pleasant stroll, weather permitting. The only negative is the breakfast. It is too expensive at £9.00 per head. You are better off going into town to get the same thing for half the price.

A brilliant hotel. Was allocated an annex room at the back of the hotel (room 101). Very clean, comfortable, quiet, VERY reasonable rates. Free complimentary fridge was a real nice touch. If I am staying in York any time in the future then this is where I will be staying. ps Don't trust the directions on their website on "How to get there from the A1M from the South".

Me and my boyfriend went away for a weekend visit and had a truely great time at this hotel. The shower and televisison was fantastic and the bed was extremely comfortable. I was impressed mostly by the complimentary fridge as it was stocked fresh every day and if there was anything else you required you just had to ask. The breakfast was to die for too, we only needed to eat our evening meal after the feast they provided. The staff were very helpful and went out of their way to accomodate their guests. We would definatly stay here again.

Stayed at hotel noir for just one night and I loved it I will be returning the room was clean modern and conftable it has friendly staff that will do anything to help nice food just a tiny bit expensive in the bar its about a 10 min work to the town center what more can u ask for I will be returning.

I was trying to find a room for the night when I was on business in York. I called the Noir and the man on reception was very helpful and pleasent. I had a very warm welcome and check in was very quick and simple. The rooms had been very tastfully renovated and the free mini bar, fresh milk and coffee maker in the room made a really nice touch. Breakfast was prompt and delicious. I would highly recommend this hotel.
