Sorry but this hotel is nice on the surface staff are lovely and breakfast nice, rooms are spotless, but you go to a hotel expecting a nights sleep, we stayed here for 3 night on a break away, it ruined our break we never slept as the beds where like they had rocks in it and I know how to use a heating control panel, it was either boiling or freezing. I never got a service I paid for.

Absolutely lovely hotel! Lovely staff who couldn’t be more helpful, lovely clean room, big bathroom and lovely bathroom wash products. Close to everything in a great location. Value for money, tasty breakfast with lots of choice.

Very clean hotel, very central to everything, bery friendly, helpful staff, nothing was too much, they ran out of Bailey's so one of the staff went out especially to buy some, so we could have our nightcap. We became known to the staff as The Baileys Ladies! would greatly recommend this hotel teresa.

Over priced for what it is. Stayed in better hotels that is cheaper and offered better service Premier Inn is one of them. Asked for a jug of milk or water as I’m pregnant and can’t drink tea and coffee. The refused saying they didn’t have milk so sent up the tiny little drink cartons of milk you get with tea and coffee. Asked for water and they sent up a glass with tap water in it. We had interlocking doors with the room next door, gave us a heart attack around midnight when the guests next door tried coming through the door (luckily I’d made sure it as locked before going to bed) Breakfast wasn’t that great either. Scrambled egg was horrible and that was the only choice of egg. Beans over cooked and hash browns tasted like freezer. Had a nicer breakfast from an ASDA cafe day before. Overall: fine nothing special, not worth the money.

Would highly recommend! Clean modern rooms and nice bathrooms. Fantastic choices at breakfast. The staff were so accommodating, particularly Josh! Why he hasn’t been nominated for the team star of the month award was a shock to us and the rest of our party! I would definitely return to this hotel should I be back in York.

Stayed hear for 2 nights with my mam and auntie, Couldn't of picked a better hotel the room was beautiful and spotless the staff couldn't do enough for us made us very welcome and very friendly and helpful, had breakfast 2 days and it was beautiful with a massive variety of food from cooked breakfast down to Continental lots of hot drinks and Cold too
would definitely recommend and are coming back.

Nice stay here for the weekend, rooms were a good size, comfortable bed & good shower, all toiletries supplied & hairdryer, tea & coffee facilities in the room (could have done with some biscuits) need to update to having a USB charging point in the room, free Wi-Fi👍 great breakfast, self service, maybe a bit overpriced at £150 a night?

Great location for train station and town centre. Friendly and helpful staff. Room wasn't cleaned on time and 4pm is a late check in but a lovely hotel would definitely come again.

Nice hotel, staff are lovely and very friendly. Would definitely stay again as it’s a 5 min walk from the train station and 10-15min walk to all attractions.

Must be the 10th time I've stayed here, and everytime its brilliant. Todays star was Leanne. An absolute credit to your team and deserving of a payrise :) As all of the team do, she went above and beyond with her customer service and ensured tonights stay was fun. Good picks food wise and very helpful sorting out tomorrow's breakfast setup :)

Great location, breakfasts were excellent. Rooms lovely, Shame about the horrendous bed. Never been so glad to get back to my own bed, had no sleep for 3 days. Old bed, rock hard.

Having a great stay in a great hotel everything has been 1st class and theres a great pub straight across the road The knaggs Head must be one of the cheapest pubs but with the best amosphere in York well worth a visit beer garden and music aswell we'l definatley be back.

My first time staying here and won’t be the last already booked our next visit.
The location is perfect for everything you need, shops, restaurants, bars and site seeing.
All The staff are so friendly and very helpful and need to mention one in particular “jade” who made sure all requirements were met and more. I brought my disabled mother-in-law and after a few telephone calls we had exactly what we needed and more.
The service is amazing one the best hotels I’ve stayed in if I’m honest.
The food was beautiful and at the right price, I always say “you pay for what you get quality wise”
I really have got no faults.

Ive just returned from here after a fabulous weekend for my friends birthday, we had a lovely stay here, the staff were so lovely and welcoming. Breakfast was amazing plenty of choice, room was clean and comfortable. I would definately reccomend Hanpton by Hikton York to everyone. We will definately be back again soon. Just returned home from a stay here and I cannot praise the wonderful staff enough. Jade was exceptionally kind, and went above and beyond to try and cheer up our small grandson who was poorly, as well as Beth and Lauren. Lovely lovely girls and a credit to Hampton by Hilton. The hotel itself is in a great location to explore the city. The room was perfect! The food here was just lovely, so we ate here st night rather than in the city centre. Amazing choice of foods at breakfast to cater for all tastes. A really fantastic hotel that I’m looking forward to returning to.

Nice place to stay. Easy to get around York from here. A bonus when we could get laundry done only £5 per bag. Good breakfast.

Nice new hotel in a great location. Big room with nice touches. Very very good breakfast. Would have been 5 star but for annoying humming noise in room.

The hotel was clean and tidy, staff was very nice until my mother asked where she could smoke. Staff member made an unnecessary comment about smoking and spoke rather rudely as to where she could smoke. I understand that smoking is not pleasant to some and not "healthy" but in hospitality, it's best to keep opinions to oneself. Other than that incident, I enjoyed the room, breakfast was okay and would suggest a visit here to someone looking for a hotel. One thing I would have loved is of the coffee machines we're on during the day so that I could grab one at my leisure, not just at breakfast time.

We arrived late at night and had to deal with a slightly grumpy receptionist, we asked to borrow and adapter and the receptionist had replied with a bad attitude and told us there was no adapter and when we asked where we could buy one, the receptionist said that the hotel sells them, making us upset at the weird and confusing response. Hotel was near the station and that was good, overall stay was good but receptionist was not professional.

This was one of the best Hiltons we have ever stayed. Wonderful service with a super night manager (unfortunately I can't remember the gent's name). Very convenient, great breakfast. We highly recommend it.

Good location in the heart of the old town. No onsite parking. But a paid parking garage is just down the street. About a 10 minute walk from the Minster and 4 minutes to the city walls. Hot breakfast + friendly staff made for a great stay.

Great stay staff could not do enough room and breakfast great would definitely stay again.

I stay here regularly with my work. Never had a problem with the staff despite one of the other reviews. All very pleasant and cheerful. Food is fine, but a bit repetitive if staying often. Breakfast could definitely do with a revamp. But hey it’s not at the top end of the Hilton chain.
The elderly chap on the bar/reception is fab and has a great dry sense of humour. Must be his Scottish links.
I have two gripes;
One; you need to put shortbread or cookies in the rooms for my cup of coffee.
Two; £4.20 for a pint of coke is outrageous, but to then charge for a dash of lime in a pint of larger is plain and simply a disgrace and shameful. Not the staffs fault. But clearly something management need to address. Especially when you have all those fab bars on the door step.
Sorry one more, and it’s just that. One more member of staff on the bar/reception. Especially in the early evening meal times.

Well run hotel 5 minutes walk from town centre. Rooms are fairly small but very clean and modern. Reception staffed with helpful cheerful people. The downside is no on-site parking and the local NCP is supposedly the most expensive in York, but you do get a discount if you have your ticket validated at reception. Breakfast is included as is Wi-Fi. Both are good.

Nice hotel very modern with good staff. Only let down is the cooked breakfast seems to be steamed or something? It's not very nice. Very good selection of other breakfast items though.

Decent mid — range hotel, well situated in city centre. Nice clean and modern en-suite rooms. We only had a shower but this was fine for a one-night stay. Helpful staff and a good breakfast. They were very happy to look after our bag while we did a bit of sightseeing.

Enjoyed our overnight stay here. Room generous, bed comfy & generous provision of tea & coffee & bathroom essentials. Although busy it was not noisy & a good buffet breakfast in the morning completed the positive experience.

Very good Hotel, close to the station and the center of York, great breakfast and abbondande, room and cleanliness great I noticed with great pleasure that in the bathroom in addition to the large dispenser of soap, shampoo and conditioner I really enjoyed the cream for the body scented. Only flaw there is no fridge in the room.

Friendly staff, great position for York centre & the station. Comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast & reasonable bar menu. 24hr menu bit pricey. Overall great value for money. Would recommend & stay again.

Friendly and professional staff ready and waiting to assist. Beautiful and comfortable hotel, highly recommended. Ideal location. Only downside paid parking few mins from the hotel. Upside you can stop in front of the hotel and drop your luggage then go and park your car.

This is the first time that my wife and I have stayed in a Hampton Hotel and we were not disappointed. The hotel was beautiful, the room we stayed in was excellent. The bathroom in the room is great. There is dispensers with shower gel, conditioner and shampoo inside the shower. There is a variety of things on offer for breakfast including cereal, toast, bacon, sausage, egg, tomatoes, tea and coffee etc. The staff are so helpful and friendly. Can't wait to stay at a Hampton again.

Warm welcome and comfortable room in one of the most modern hotels within the ancient city walls. Only downside was lack of car parking adjacent to the hotel which is an issue if you arrive in bad weather or late at night — car parking is available at a reduced rate in a multi-storey car park some distance away.

Great staff, all you can eat breakfast, late bar for that last drink befote bed and super clean comfy rooms. On average 150£ per night cheaper than the Grand and just around the corner!. Great location and minutes from the main tourist / centre if the old town.

Nice rooms, floor 0 rooms don't get much of a view but inside they are nice and new. Breakfast is good, lots of options. Check in and out very easy and no hassle.

Not bad for a budget hotel. Close to station and town. Biggish rooms, nice free breakfast and a bar open till late. Everything nice and clean as well. What more could you ask for. Free Wi-Fi, of course.

Nice clean hotel. Rooms are well equipped. Mine had a nice big shower enclosure. If you need a mobile signal you need to be on the upper floors (I'm with 3 and Vodafone). I was on the ground and had no signal at all. Food selection if you arrive late is very limited. Jacket potatoes (they had none), toasties (they were out of bacon) and pizza. Breakfast selection was very good and as breakfast is included you just get stuck in. No need to wait and confirm room numbers etc.

Good hotel with comfortable and spacious rooms and good service. There is no minibar or room service. If there's a bar down 24h. The staff were very friendly and helpful. What if there are a lot of people starting at 9. The location is fine. Close to the train station and the historic centre. You can do it all by walking.

Very busy central York hotel. Well located. Rooms have all the amenities you could want including iron/ ironing board, hairdryer and coffee/ tea making facilities. Breakfast gets very busy but there are plenty of seats.

Close to the train station only A few minutes walk. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Couldn’t do enough for us. Knowledgeable too. Rooms were nice. Clean and shower good size but most importantly the towels were a good size. Breakfast, there was plenty of choice and cooked nicely. I would definitely recommend and come back.

Room was quite nice, but didn't have all the amenities I would expect from a 4 star hotel i. E no shower cap, no coat hooks in the room only hangers for clothes, no water or biscuits in the room, only 1 hook in the bathroom for a towel so only 1 person able to hang up their towel. Mediocre evening menu but breakfast was very nice. Pretty much all staff were very nice, although one female staff member at the bar was rude and a bit condescending to me on Friday night. Cleanliness in hotel was exemplary and the beds and pillows were amazing! Excellent central location too, would definitely stay there again.

A very nice hotel in the perfect location right in the middle of York just round the corner from the train station but on a quiet little back street not a busy city street. The staff were very friendly and helpful, nice rooms and a nice breakfast. Great all round will be going back again. Thanks.

Generally a very positive experience staying here. The room I had was of decent size with a nice bathroom. Every staff member I interacted with was friendly and helpful no matter what the hour. The buffet breakfast was good and the breakfast area was ample. There is no room service or restaurant here, but it is centrally located with restaurants/pubs/chain food stores close by (with the Shambles being a couple of blocks away).

Without doubt one of the best choices I have made the hotel position is very convenient to visit the old town Day or night 10min walk. The breakfast is excellent the room clean as new.

Just about everything you would want. Slightly small, the rooms are nice with an excellent shower and adequate bathroom. Excellent breakfast included with many fruits plus hot food. An in-hotel bar near to the check in spot has a few brewski"s on tap to quench your parched throat … and nice staff.

Rooms were spacious, clean and very presentable. Desk and sofa, for you work needs and a place to chill. The staff are very friendly, easy to talk to and very helpful.

Hotel was clean and tidy, the staff were superb, rooms very nice. My big concern was that the Hilton used to be regarded as a cut above, unfortunately I can only presume that they have been bought out as they are exactly the same as Travel lodge only nearly 4 times the price. Nice but £260 per night no way sorry.

Great nights stay. Very friendly and helpful staff. Spacious rooms, comfortable bed, good sized shower in the well equipped bathroom… no bath though. Good choices for the buffet breakfast, all well cooked. I would stay here again.

They do not take into account that the booking was clearly for 2 adults and 1 child and the sofa bed was not ready and we had to warn. Nor were towels for the little one… Bad. The room on the ground 0 with a view to a wall, but it was good and the breakfast is also very good, although with a lot of people.

A hotel near the station, with rooms of sufficient size and free Wi-Fi (not too fast) and breakfast always included. Not bad price, and even if you have the small bathroom and the shower with little pressure. The views, as I put on the lower floor and facing the interior area of the hill where it is, you will not see anything.

I would have no problem recommending this hotel for a stay. Breakfast was great, rooms modern, clean and a good size.

One of the better Hiltons I've stayed in recently. Clean, modern, decent Wi-Fi, free breakfast, good location. Plenty of power sockets in the rooms, including by the bed — something which many hotels miss. The rooms aren't huge, and would probably be pretty cramped if you used the pull-out sofa bed in addition to the queensize bed — but for just me it was absolutely fine. The breakfast wasn't the best quality, but what do you expect for free?

Very clean and great location. Be aware when you drive up the hotel doesn't appear like the online photo shows… must be from an odd angle. We parked outside and checked in/ditched our gear but I'm not sure that was legal. Breakfast was quite a bit more than we expected, very nice considering it was included. Staff was all fantastic.

Had dinner in their restaurant with my colleagues which we have been told it is not a full on restaurant, while what they serve really is ready meal or anything like oven/microwave food. They have only got one chef in that 'kitchen'. I ordered a southern fried chicken burger and sweet potato fries, when the food come to me, they brought me the normal fries, the southern fried chicken was too hard to even cut it by a knife, not to mention we had wait for about an hour to have our food ready to be in front of us. Nonetheless, one of my colleague ordered a carbonara and turned out everyone finished their meal but hers has yet to be served. After chasing up and found out the chef left that in the kitchen and no one knew it was there, waited another 15-20 mins the carbonara came up with pasta crumb together. We got a free bottle of wine for compensation, but I would never eat in this hotel again.

Absolute horrorshow. Fire alarm has gone off 2 nights in a row. When I asked for an explanation, which seemed a fair request since I now have a terrified child, he stated that there was an issue with "people using hairspray". I couldnt make that up if I tried. Would give 0 stars if possible.

Great hotel. Excellent room (even had an Aux lead to connect your phone to). Great bathroom also. Breakfast area — superb and very well laid out. Oh and the price was good.

We stayed at this Hotel in July 2014 and could not fault this hotel, in fact, It is hard to find the best words to describe it, it was so good. The staff were brilliant, very friendly and couldn't do enough to help, we felt like we were the most important people there. The room was excellent to say the least, spotless, with a choice of eating areas supplied throughout the hotel even after hours when the reception was closed. Breakfast was fit for a king in a beautiful sunlit room. Great staff and facilities Hampton we will definitely be there again soon. X.

Lovely clean hotel, comfortable beds, great breakfasts and friendly staff. Bar food wasn't great, but no real issue with the choice of restaurants in town. Within good walking distance to everything.

We were pleasantly surprised by the staff, the cleanliness of the hotel and the breakfast buffet. Special mention to Madison at the front desk who was so pleasant and helpful whenever we had a question. The hotel is within walking distance of everywhere we went including 5 minutes from the train station and 10 minutes from York Minster. We would definitely recommend this hotel and will stay here again if ever back in York.

Nice rooms, good and quiet airco, great location. The only thing that I didn' t like was the breakfast. I think the Hilton breakfasts are better.
