Went for the first time yesterday since the second lockdown felt very safe good customer service I had the chilli which was great will definitely be back.

Staying here for 5 nights, the pub has about 8-10 rooms. On first impression, a stylish bar area, very friendly staff, the room is immaculate. The pub is situated just outside the city walls, about 150 yards from the minster, an ideal location for exploring this fabulous, historical city.

Great bands and nicki is a fantastic host x.

Great atmosphere in this friendly boozer enjoyed watching he football then karaoke great night was had by all.

Friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Situated just outside of city walls. One to visit again when I'm next in York. Shame pub doesn't do meals, or I would have definitely given it 5 stars. Lady behind bar helpfully suggested another pub to go to for food, which we did before returning to the Bootham for another drink afterwards.

The day l walked the wall l stopped at the pub to have a beer very nice inside like all English pubs.

Traditional pub interior with Nice atmosphere, has a good selection of live music and nice beer.

Lovely to come across a nice traditional pub with friendly staff, fab loos and live music — all on a Tuesday night in York without all the tourist trappings. Brilliant.

Only 2 stars would have been 5 except for smackhead offering me some coke in toilets.

Only if you are a regular. Evening bartender was the worst in my last 16 months of travels. She could not be bothered to acknowledge anyone she did not know. After 10 minutes I said "HELLO", which I did not know was a derogatory comment in UK. She said, "that will not get you served". Not sure what I should have said. But did not need that. Too many other places all around for that attitude.

Went to watch the fifa semi France v Belgium Friendly locals enjoyed a bit of banter.

Lots of entertainment. Great landlady. She works very hard to keep customers happy.

We stayed a night for our anniversary. The reviews were mostly good and the rooms looked nice. We were in the attic room which was good as it blocked most of the downstairs noise off. The room was freezing though and it took ages to warm up once we turned the radiator on. The dust was unacceptable! I've never stayed anywhere with as much dust as this! Went to have a shower and after seeing the dispensers in there didn't take my shower gel. The dispensers were empty and just for show! At breakfast we didn't get asked what we'd like so they just brought a breakfast to us. Most of it I couldn't eat due to dietary problems so had to ask for more toast to fill up on! The pub itself was lovely and the rooms were nice and I slept like a log but probably wouldn't return.

Good friendly pub, nice atmosphere, nice locals, and a decent pint at a decent price, if you like a good pub you'll like this place.

Dropped in for a few beers and to watch my mates band. They were great. There is more to the pub than just the bar area but we didn't get to see it. As well as music there was people watch sport on the telly (rugby league then football). I was happily surprised to see the rugby boys signing along to the band during the game. Very friendly place with plenty of people in on a cold night. I will be going back soon.

Excellent couple of nights in the place. Live music on the Friday and DJ on the second night playing northern soul. Very friendly staff and great fun too. Recommend this pub without question.

Recent makeover making it a nice environment for a drink or two. Good selection of drinks reasonably priced.

Only there for a quick pint. Looks very clean and tidy, decent decor and bright and chatting staff.

Great pub. Near to town and football ground. Sky and BT sports with tv's placed so all can see. Beer good but they only had weak choices. Otherwise this would have been a 5.

Just stayed for 2 nights here, lovely people, room and food. Staff/owners are so helpful and kind. Rooms are spotless and breakfast is great. Location is right in york centre… pefect stay couldnt fault amything will definitely be returning.

The atmosphere is great, the drinks are reasonably priced and overall its a good night.

Stayed at the Bootham Tavern last night with my friend and we absolutely loved it! Such a clean, lovely place and the rooms are perfect! The breakfast was gorgeous and the staff are so lovely and helpful especially Lisa, what a fun bubbly lady and she will give you tips on where to go etc and nothing is too much trouble. Will 100% be coming back to stay there again and would recommend to anyone looking for a nice play to stay in York!

I was here for an impromptu 'concert' by Tankus The Henge frontman Jaz Delorean (just him and a piano). The pub makes for good acoustics and has a nice view onto the street. There's also parking behind the pub. £2.50/hour until 6pm, after which it becomes £2 for the entire evening (6pm to midnight).

The band we went to see were brilliant. The decor and facilities were top notch and the beer was good.

This place has areal comfortable feel about it when you go past the bar area really comfortable seats. The prices at the bar are typical of York.

Found the tavern wellcoming and well decorated. Prices are reasonable, with a good range of drinks.

The venue was too small for the band. We had to sit in the bed n eventually leave because we were unable to think it talk. The staff were super friendly though. The refurbishment is amazing.

Popped in for a drink as passing by. Very nice deco great atmosphere great choice of whiskey and real ales. Felt very welcome try the food next time. Looking at the pics gives a misinterpretation as it's been recently refurbished.
