What a great wee find. I arrived here at a very difficult time in my life and couldn't have chosen a better hotel. They were so friendly, welcoming and professional. Rooms were warm, clean and comfortable. The only time there was a problem was one night with my radiator which had stopped working but they very quickly provided me with a heater. I felt so at home here that I decided to extend my for another 5 nights 👍😆 Thank you to everyone for a lovely stay and hopefully my husband and I will be able to stay later on in the year ♥️

I was attacked by a drunken customer Xmas eve, who was taken away in a police van and told they were being thrown out only to bump into him the next morning then told because he was part of a group they were letting him stay even after being threatened again 🙄 Also the room was damp mouldy opposite is a block of flats that play music full blast till about 2 in the morning luckily the guy couldn't fight sleep 😉

I would highly recommend the Rivelyn Hotel. What a lovely little place to stay and all the staff are friendly. The rooms are nice and clean. The Sunday lunches were beautiful and close to the beach. 🌊 🏖 Xx.

Just had an amazing weekend staying hear. Stayed 4years ago and loved it then too. Great value for money, great food and the staff are incredible special thanks to Harrison and Sophie who are just fantastic 🥰 hope to see you guys soon. ❤️

My daughter and grandson stayed here the staff were very rude the mattress was stained windows mouldy and generally dirty my daughter asked if she could leave her case after check out as her train didn't leave till 3pm she was told she couldn't and would have to drag it round with her all day totally disgusted we will not be recommending this hotel to anyone.

Thankyou so much for fitting us in to a beautiful family room last minute from check in to check out we enjoyed every minute the food was great and the customer service was fantastic special thanks to jamie who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome highly recommend if we are visiting the area again we shall return.

On arrival we checked in to room 104 ok & noticed a few problems which I did point out to someone behind the bar as there wasn't anybody on reception. The problems were both taps in the bathroom were useless. One was so loose you had to hold it with 1 hand whilst trying to turn it on with your other hand very dangerous in my opinion so we just left it alone in the end & the other tap wasn't much better I left it running for a good 20 minutes & still no hot water came out of it so we didn't bother with any of them. We just boiled the kettle to have a wash with & used the shower for the rest of our stay. The food was excellent as was breakfast so would deffo recommend the food to future guests. All in all a really nice visit & helpful staff. Definitely be staying again 1 day but not in room 104.

We had Sunday lunch and it was very nice including a delicious dessert would recommend it.

Been to this hotel a few times very friendly management and staff can't do enough for u give u info of places around,,,, meals are good.

Do not stay at this hotel! Bad experience and denied a refund because of “booking. Com” even though we booked directly via the hotel. We were put into a room that had a very mouldy bathroom, black mould all over the walls and ceiling, it looked like it hadn't been scrubbed in a long time. It did not feel like we were staying at a hotel, scruffy. Stains on walls, plug sockets in the walls wobbling as we put our plugs into them. We noticed the mould late into the evening on our first night stay, however the reception which states it is 24 hours was closed. We decided to wait until the morning after to alert the staff to our disappointment of the mould. So the manager starts to blame us making out it is our fault for not telling them sooner, but then went ahead to say she noticed the mould the day before putting us in the room, we had to ask why she still put us in there, but it took a lot of repeating myself before we were offered a new room. I can't believe how she admitted to noticing the mould, yet still thought it was acceptable to put us in there, then blamed us for not telling her sooner, even though she already knew and the reception was closed at the time. I have noticed many reviews mention a similar thing, so it seems like this is something that a lot of customers go through.

My family have been coming 1-2 times a year and we love it. So friendly helpful kind and amazing with the children we have missed you all and can wait t see 6 weeks 5 days counting.

This hotel is friendly, and excellent value. Have booked to go again later this year.

Absolutely disgusted with the lack of understanding by this hotel when trying to book a room suitable for a disabled member of my family. A suitable room was available but they wouldn't guarantee it saying if a family wanted to book the room they would be given priority over our booking (even though we offered to pay the full family rate! ) and we would have to use another room. I obviously didn't proceed with the booking. Disgraceful lack of customer service and downright discrimination against disabled guests who are clearly an inconvenience they would rather not bother with. If that's the service you get before you even walk through the door, goodness knows what it's like when you stay!

Lovely owners and (as with their other premises, The Valley Bar) the staff are second to none.
Had my 70th at The Rivelyn and the whole event could not have gone better. The superb buffet, venue and atmosphere made it a great night for everyone.

Definately haunted! We all had really strange experiences. Beds were comfy though & staff are nice :)

Nice and friendly staff. Great location; 10 minute walk from the town centre and train station. Although the rooms are small, they are well-kept. The Wi-Fi connection is spotty in some parts of the hotel.

Nice, cosy, and cheap. Just in need of renovations however. The staff could not be nicer though.

Warm welcome given we were so late. The dog friendly rooms and decor are first rate.

Basic hotel staff very friendly. & helpful. Good for short stay 15min walk to seafront.

A large hotel with pet friendly status however it is in need of a clean and refurb of the rooms. Very dated public area, s and beds not very comfortable. The bathroom was also not very clean and the shower only dribbled due to no water pressure. Just glad only booked for 2 nights!

Budget hotel, so don't expect 5 star. Room clean but needs decorating. Bar was good and lovely atmosphere. Well worth money paid compared to other hotels in area.

We've just had 3 nights at The Rivelyn.
We are booking for July.
They say it's a budget hotel. Well it's lovely. I've been in more expensive places that weren't a patch on this.
The staff are very friendly and helpful can't do enough for you. The bar is reasonably priced and well stocked and is open till late. Sandwiches are on sale for £2 if you're feeling peckish. Take away menus behind the bar that deliver to the hotel. (Nick and Peter behind the bar were brill)
Comfortable, tidy rooms.
Lift to all floors.
Room service everyday (if you want) and they aren't mean with the tea, coffee and loo rolls!
You don't feel like you have got to leave at 9am and not come back in at tea time like the old days.
Night Porter on hand after 12am who will let you in if you've been on an all nighter.
There's a lovely drawing room downstairs if you want to be quiet or work on your lap top. Wifi in communal areas.
Parking outside the hotel and parking discs at reception. £1.50 for 2 days.
Big dining room and dance floor.
Situated by an Victorian Crescent with benches nearby to sit and watch the squirrels and pigeons.
Very laid back. They don't mind a bit of noise within reason as long as you don't upset other guests when you come in late.
Lively, busy hotel.
We can't wait to come back. 10/10

Great hotel first time staying here and so far enjoying the stay the hotel is 10 min walk from town and 5 mind from the local stores and the staff are friendly the bar is really nice and friendly atmosphere. The room are nice will be coming back again.

Thank you for a lovely stay Sandra and the staff made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble even when we had a problem with the heating it was sorted instantly. The breakfast was very nice with lots of extras … if you were feeling hungry, there was even an extra sausage for the dog. Will definitely stay here again Thank you.

Just arrived. Welcoming reception. Room very clean. Easy on road parking. Looks like great bar so won't need to venture out in the evening if we don't want to.

Comfortable budget priced hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. The price reflects the decor. Would definitely return as it's only 1O minutes walk from the railway station.

Stayed here numerous occasions. You pays yer money and this is what you get. Some rooms could do with an update. Love it.

I want to begin by saying that the staff here are truly lovely. Every single one of them we met were very friendly and went out of their way to help and offer a cheerful hello or to enquire about our day. The hotel itself was clean and the beds were warm, comfortable and good quality. It is a perfect budget base from which to explore the local area from. The lack of 5 stars simply comes from tiredness of the place, much of the decor is very worn, wonky, slightly broken, stained and tarnished. For us it added quirk and character to what has obviously been a well loved place for adventurers but for others it may be an inconvenience or make them feel uncomfortable. Additionally there was a fair amount of noise, whether that was from the pub opposite or from fellow guests through the (echoey) rooms next door we couldn't tell, however it didn't continue too late for us to sleep (we were out fairly late) so was only a problem for any evenings spent in. Breakfast was cheap and cheerful if a little understaffed and understocked for what seemed a busy weekend for them. The toasters were a bit of a hilarious relic for all involved and probably should be replaced for the sanity of those of us who like both sides of bread toasted at the same time or temperature settings!

We visit this hotel 3-4 times a year we are always made to feel welcome staff are so friendly rooms are cosy and warm and I never want to get out of there beds. Fantastic hotel well worth a visit you won't be disappointed well done to all the staff at rivelyn hotel.

Good location and very cheap but the whole hotel is very tired and a bit dirty. It's probably right for the price but be prepared for spending as little time in your room as possible.

Disgusting and not worth the money way to overpriced for something like this. The room was dirty, smelt and the bed were really uncomfortable I didn't get to sleep for the four days I've stayed here the most I slept was probably a hour at most. The room wasn't even cleaned properly the drawers were dusty and it isn't safe all keys open all doors I found out by accident when I opened someone else's room by accident. WITH MY KEY! The only good thing about this place was the staff very polite and welcoming just sad this is the experience we had.

Lovely place to stay cheap but very friendly and they allow dogs always stay here when staying in scarbourgh there sometimes 3 times a year.

Cheap hotel you get what you pay for. Could do with a lick of paint and a good clean but enjoyed our stay very friendly and helpful staff.

The staff are what I am rating, the hotel is overpriced by at least £28.50 p/n. It was dirty, smelly, most of the clientele I assume were drug users, take away cartons were left out in the corridors, plumbing did not work in the taps, we had to go downstairs (no phones in rooms) and ask for assistance to then taps off. One room flooded through the ceiling into the bar. Police cars were outside the hotel for some time trying to control a drunken domestic. It is an HOSTEL, not a hotel.

What a beautiful place too stay staff are amazing with us the rooms are spectacular and beds are comfy and food is outstanding and id recommend it too anyone dogs are welcome and rooms are spotless be back here soon xxxx.

Visited on 8th April for wedding. Unfortunately they don't have card machines at the bar… as I travelled from Newcastle hadn't had chance to get to a cash machine thinking there'd be a card machine at the bar I had little cash on me so found this a bit disappointing. Otherwise. Nice venue.

We booked mostly because of the price and location, but even for a budget hotel we would expect more. The finishings within the room aren't quite the standard we would expect (wallpaper flaking and damp stains in the ceiling), we would have also have liked a shower — rather than the hand held shower for over the bath. The staff are really welcoming and accommodating, overall a nice hotel that could do with updating.

Just stayed for 2 nights with my partner. First time in Scarborough. It's a lovely hotel friendly staff. Clean. Bar has great prices we wished we just stayed in the bar instead of going out. Close to town and the lovely beach. Only thing I didn't like was check out was 11am but had people trying to enter the room at half 9am but we're still very friendly. Lovely place!

Terrible noisey and no staff. no parking, no Wi-Fi coverage in most of hotel. v loud area no chance of sleep, had to change rooms twice due to noise and thin walls, the woman actually turned down an enquiry to book "because shes got someone waiting for a pint". So priorities! everything needs cleaning in general. the front faces onto another crappy complex and the back onto a back street and some garbage.

Had a fantastic stay here, a bargain for a short break. Room was clean, my dog was made very welcome by all the staff, and breakfast in the morning was great way to start the day for walking round Scarborough. Hotel is only 5 min walk from town centre and a couple of mins from the Esplanade and the South Cliff. I can't wait to go back.

The Rivelyn is a very clean place to stop. Everything I needed. Very helpful staff. Breakfast was great and plenty of it. Bar if needed. The hotel is not far from shopping centre, train station and sea front. I look forward to stopping there again when up in Scarborough.

Stayed a great 4 day break over the New Year. We were all made very welcome by all staff members especially the dog. He was allowed to sit in the bar with us on an evening so we could enjoy the bar. This is a refreshing change as some "dog friendly" hotels are not so friendly. We found it to be a great base for non car users. The beach and town is within easy walking distance. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting to stay in Scarborough and we are already planning when we will return. Thanks to all at the Rivelyn :) Dawn, United Kingdom.

Recently stayed for 2 nights at The Rivelyn Hotel and found it to be a very good choice. Linda was very helpful in fitting us in at the last minute and we found the hotel to be spotlessly clean with all you could want. The breakfast which was continental was varied, plentiful and very good quality, was also served until 11am which is very accomodating especially if you have taken advantage of the real ales on offer the night before! Staff were friendly and very welcoming also. Would definitely stag again when we next go to Scarborough and would also recommend it.
