Excellent little B&B, the owners have clearly put a lot of work into it. Friendly and helpful (even helped when my car wouldn't start when we were leaving! ) and a great line in breakfast musical accompaniment!

Very quirky B&B in Whitby. Clean and cozy. Following Covid guidelines and adherring brilliantly to social distancing during these strange times. Rooms are left empty for 2 days after cleaning and between guests and only 2 of the 4 rooms are being occupied at any time. We had the 1st floor to ourselves. Felt very safe and at ease. Kev the host was extremely hospitable, a lovely Vampire 😉. Breakfast cooked to order and if you want takeaway for other meals they'll provide plates etc for you to use in the dining room. 👌. Was a nice escape from the new normal!

Myself and my husband stayed here for our one year anniversary at the end of july (sorry for the late review, we are both horribly forgetful! ) we did have a lovely time staying here however and kev was a great host and an interesting bloke, we had some good natters over our 2 night stay and staying here is like staying at your mates cosy house with clean and comfy rooms with some surprises hidden in the wardrobes! kev was super accommodating during breakfast and veggie options were available for a good veggie fry up! we definitely recommend a stay here and will hopefully return next time we venture to whitby! :)

Great location, excellent mine host, lovely spooky rooms, excellent breakfast and Dracula killing kit in each room.

Stayed in The Luna room this weekend so lovely and Kevin cant do enough for you. Its quiet private and lots of surprises around the room. Tv and DVDs if you want them. Books area Guides and things of interest and tea/coffee making facilities in your room. Bathroom isnt en suite but its a private bathroom for each room and just along the corridor so no hardship to guests at all.

Wow what an amazing place huge rooms, quirky, clean and just an amazing place. Wanted to stay here for a long time and so glad I now have, Kev the owner was brilliant nothing was too much trouble and breakfast was huge and freshly cooked when you got downstairs for it,,, looking forward to staying there again.

Had a surprise weekend away arranged for my birthday the weekend just gone and we stayed here. It's an amazing place, the hosts are great and nothing is too much trouble. Their knowledge of the area is great as we were very much beginners when it came to Whitby. All the other guests were friendly, making conversation over breakfast and it became clear that a couple of the guests staying were regulars to which we are now!

What a fantastic experience. The breakfast by candle light and old school punk classics just blew me away. It's a must. Great hosts, themed rooms, we will most definitely be back, it's now our favourite haunt. Fangs so much kev n trish xx.

Me and hub spent three lovely days here. An absolute must-recommend! Perfect for us as we are both HUGE fans of all things horror! We stayed in the amazing Dracula room. Not a fault, every aspect of our stay was fabulous!

As a Dracula nut this gem of a B&B didn’t disappoint. Kev is a fantastic host. Nothing is too much trouble and he has lots of knowledge… on pretty much everything! The breakfast really is as good as everyone says it is and sets you up for the day. Loved the cool, quirky decor and the 4 poster bed was so comfy! A lover of Bedlington terriers, it was all topped off by a visit from Amos the pooch. Couldn’t have asked for more from a 40th birthday surprise. Keep up the great work team Bats & Broomsticks. See you again soon.

Thanks for a brilliant 2 night stay, loved the green man room it was perfect, your excellent taste in music with candlelit breakfast, even having dairy free spread for my toast catering for dietary needs, could not wish for more, we will be back to stay. Brilliant location, accommodation and hosts.

Had a brilliant 3 days staying here for my birthday, Kev and Tish gave me a bottle of prosecco to celebrate! Kev is the perfect host, nothing is too much trouble… even offered to pick us up from Staithes if we missed the last bus! The room was beautiful, bed so comfy and loved all the decor around the rooms and corridors. The breakfast room was amazing, candlelit breakfast listening to The Damned, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes amongst many others, and again nothing too much trouble. This place is an absolute gem and we will definitely be returning, hopefully in the very near future. Thank you Kev and Tish you made our stay a very good experience.

Brilliant place to stay excellent rooms and breakfasts. Really friendly people that run the place.

Brilliant gothic themed hotel. Book here if you like the unusual. Lovely candle lit breakfast included, with a very nice vegetarian option available. The hotel is a short walk down the hill to Whitby centre where the bars and restaurants are. Note that it is steep hill and the walk back isn't the easiest. No bar at the hotel. There is a good selection of horror films downstairs which you can take to your room and watch on the in-room TV and vcr. Each room has a separate private bathroom so no en-suite available. The hotel is clean, but will not be to everyone's taste as it had a strong gothic theme. The dracula room is impressive with its four poster bed and Themed decor, however, the window doesn't open so it may get very hot in summer even with the provided fans. Having said that, we stayed in July but it was a typical British summer and far from warm! The owners were friendly and helpful. Their are a couple of parking spaces outside of the hotel, so get there early if you want to get parked close, no idea where you'd have to park otherwise.

Weird, unusual, unique. If those three things ring positive for you, then you will love this place. Kev, the host, was exceptionally welcoming, going above and beyond expectations. This included forwarding recommended journey planning information from Nottingham (tip, train to Scarborough and get the X93 bus to Whitby from outside the station) and also giving us a lift with our luggage in his car down into town at the end of our stay (we needed to settle up the balance and they have no facility to pay by card, so needed cash). The cooked breakfasts here are a thing of legend (you eat in the basement by candlelight to a soundtrack of old-school punk/goth/rock), and the bed (Dracula room) is literally the most comfortable piece of furniture in all creation. You'll sleep like the dead. The Dracula room has a VHS player, so we took advantage of the decent library of old — school horror favourites. Cannot recommend enough; we will be back!

If I could give 10 star rating I would. We have just come back from our stay. Yesterday was the tenth year we have been coming to bats and broomsticks, three to four stays a year it's home from home for us. It's a wonderful friendly place to stay. Kev and Tish are lovely lovely people and good friends. Breakfast is out of this world. The rooms are cosy warm and fantastically decorated. Beautiful gothic four poster beds. The mattresses hug you when you lie on them. I can't say enough good things about this fantastic B & B. If you find yourselves staying here for the first time believe me you will be hooked. Thankyou kev and Tish for ten great years and here's to the next ten. Xxxx.

The best guesthouse in Whitby. Awesome breakfast, fantastic hosts and gothic atmosphere. What is not to like!?

Excellent place kev was a great host and a genuinely nice guy. Facilities were all top notch and the theme is amazing. Breakfast was the best fry up I have had outside my own kitchen. Can't recommend these guys enough.

Totally Recommend this place. I've Just got back from staying here with my fiancé for two nights and didn't know what to expect as my partner booked it for us. I loved it and I would definitely go back. The place was amazing, we stayed in the solar room which was gorgeous, gold and black decorated gothic theme throughout with the most comfortable four poster bed with a bat and witch watching over you. Kev was very inviting really nice & down to earth and really helpful even when it came to me parking my car too. Bathroom to ourselves too and breakfast was served in the basement by candlelight and punk music on in the background, with lots of items around the room that caught my eye. Need to plan another stay for the future as curious now as to what the other rooms are like as each room is different and I'm intrigued.

I wish I could rate this higher absolutely fantastic place the room and bathroom were perfect the breakfast was beautiful. We were greeted by kev who is so welcoming and helpful. Would highly recommend this B&B and I will go back definitely xxxx.

This guest house is great fun for kids and adults. The owners have taken a lot of trouble in decorating it in a vampire theme. Including bats hanging on the beds, dragons everywhere, and a coffin in the hall. The owners are also very friendly, its clean, and 5 mins walk from the centre.

You just CAN be happy today… if you stay at Tish & Kev's. Fabulous!

Stayed over a wkend this place is fantastic, Kev is a brilliant host and a font of local knowledge, breakfast was a unique experience, rooms and beds are comfortable and very roomy. We often visit Whitby and in future this will be the only place we stay.

Devilishly Delectable Stayed here for a honeymoon weekend away Aug 2014. Cannot fault it and host Kevin literally can't do enough for you, he is so helpful and friendly. Room fantastic and breakfast amazing, including the music. Would recommend to any old Goths!

Spent the weekend there for my better half Birthday, the rooms where clean and tidy, the host's where Fantastic, the Breakfast was great, I'll give this place 5*+, can't wait to go back.

Call al Goth's and Dracula lovers this is the place for you, It is truly amazing all four poster beds. Rooms a health sizes and all gothic, Dracula and Pagan theme. The owners are lovely so friendly nothing is too much trouble for them. Wifi, and free view in every room YIPPEE the breakfast was great and they catered for everyone diet problems. Super value as a bonus.
