Stayed this weekend — absolutely beautiful hotel inside and out! the staff were very efficient and friendly. Food is fantastic. Travelled a long way to get here and was absolutely worth it.

Would highly recommend the Malayan for a restaurant meal, food was lovely and the staff very friendly and attentive.

Excellent staff throughout the whole Hotel. Excellent food whether breakfast or evening meal. Easy to relax in the bar area. The rooms have everything you need. The setting of the hotel is just peaceful and everything and everyone are relaxed and enjoy their stay at the Mallyan Spout Hotel.

Came here for a birthday surprise and it certainly has the wow factor. The pods are cosy with a fire and Alexa pod to play the music of your choice, all in a picturesque setting. The staff are friendly and attentive — can’t do enough for you. The food is excellent and great value too. We can’t wait to come back again. Highly recommended ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Me and friends aswell as our children came last night and booked one of the dining pods and all I can Is wow amazing from start to finish the staff went above and beyond and the chef even went out his way to make my son something that wasn't on the menu so I had a very happy boy. Will definitely be coming back.

Fantastic night, couldn’t fault a thing and thanks to all the staff, it was a very pleasant experience in the igloo in these challenging times!

Christmas Music playing through Alexa Christmas lights up inside and heated
staff were attentive and couldn’t do any more for you and the food was excellent
We hit the 2:15pm slot and it was great to see the igloos in the daytime and when it dropped dark
We own holiday accommodation in Whitby & Sandsend and wouldn’t have a problem recommending guests in fact we’ve got some going Thursday!
Again a special mention to the staff who were great especially the young man that looked after us in igloo No. 1

We have stayed at Mallyan Spout Hotel many times, the staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are great and the food in the restaurant or the bar are both delicious and reasonably priced.

Had one of the best meals here that I have had in a long time and excellent customer service.

This was our first stay at this lovely hotel, it won't be our last! Very comfortable accommodation, friendly and attentive staff, lovely lounge areas and the food was delicious! Looking forward to returning very soon, hopefully with better weather next time!

Lovely stay at the Mallyan on the sad occasion of a family funeral. Hadn't been here for many years but still as relaxed and comfortable as it was back in the day. I ate in the evening and the meal was excellent. Menu and wine list very diverse and the quality of the food was first class. Excellent friendly staff. All in all a pleasurable experience made an awful experience more bearable. Thank you. X.

The mallyan Spout were absolutely incredible for our wedding in August! From booking two years in advance Kay was incredible and so helpful! She talked us through everything and was fun and lovely the whole time. They set up the ceremony room for us and it looked amazing, she also recommended us to have pictures in certain areas of the garden which captured the day perfectly. Thank you!

Popped in for refreshments after a lovely long walk and visiting the waterfall. Ended up staying longer than anticipated due to the stunning view from the beer garden. Will definitely be back hopefully to stay in the hotel as it looked beautiful.

This time last week I was eating the best ever peppered steak pie and proper home cooked chips in the hotel bar. I have since recommended it to all my family. They make a mean Passion Fruit Martini too. The bar staff are welcoming, professional and nothing is too much trouble. Can't wait to go back.

A most enjoyable morning excellent food very good service and the pleasure of sharing it with my family.

Recently took a group of residents from the care home where I work. The staff could not of been more helpful in making sure we were well looked after and the lunch was superb. Full disabled access which is rare around here. Well done to all the staff it was a pleasurable experience enjoyed by all and we will return. Thank you.

Excellent place for a meal. Great food & service from Amy was top drawer. Mark the barman was very good indeed also in terms of service & advice whilst we were staying in Goathland. Fully recommend.

Dropped in for drinks after a walk on the Moors. We were tempted by the afternoon tea and it was well worth it! Had some fancy teas in my time but this was absolutely phenomenal. The sandwiches were top quality, especially the crab. Cakes were awesome too. And all in classic Yorkshire portions :-). Highly recommended.

I didn't get to see much of the inside of this rather fine old building. The garden was wonderful though, with fabulous vistas across the moors. It's a mid-price tariff for residents (not cheap) but it looks well worth the money.

I went for the second time to the cafe attached to the hotel and got good food and service for a good price at the edge of the village of Goathland away from the Station. Toilets are in the hotel which looks clean and tidy. Staff very friendly so 4 stars at least. Not actually Had a drink in the hotel yet but looks good. Car park is a small but usually ample size with slightly bumpy access to cafe and bar.

Was recommended to try the bar for food. Was not disappointed. Good selection of drinks on offer as well. Added bonus of beautiful grounds you can go sit in and watch the sun setting over the rolling countryside.

Beautiful hotel on the outside and some awesome old features inside, the room was a bit shabby especially the bathroom. Breakfast which was included was really nice but small, but with all the fresh fruit, yogurt etc you have enough to fill you. All the staff are friendly and the food in the restaurant is amazing. Just don't expect a lay in the sheep, cockerels and birds start around 5am…

Wonderful weekend staff fantastic nothings to much trouble, bed best I've slept in. Food first class we did restaurant bar and super coffee shop, new addition since we last stayed. We will be back. Shame about the cocker at 4.30 in the morning but we are in the country.

Clear choice of food in the restaurant, high-quality, prepared and sufficiently measured in quantity. Dessert is a force. Delicious, but sometimes also quite powerful.
The operation is attentive and fast enough.
A table reservation in advance is highly recommended.

Very nice setting next to the titular waterfall. Good real ale well kept. We were hoping to eat here but they had a fire in the kitchen so had to move on. Great shame we were looking forward to sampling the food.

Attended a wedding 2016 Summer and stayed for 2 nights. Very over priced. Rooms dirty and dated. Iron blew the electrics, not a happy stay. Management didn’t even apologise. Would definitely not stay again.

Very nice coffee shop with lovely scones. A real treat after the walk down to the Spout & back. Well worth a visit.

Stopped by here at the start and end of a hike to Mallyan Spout. It was very cozy and well located. Very friendly staff and great atmosphere. Not too busy for a Sunday.

A proper country hotel in a beautiful setting, food is of a high standard and the staff are friendly. However the rooms are considerably over priced.

First class traditional hotel. Not part of a chain, so very individual. Great food, good bar, clean rooms.

We had a family lunch there and the food was good quality and value. The staff were very pleasant and more than helpful. The only negative was the parking lot was muddy and had limited space with no disabled spaces.

The breakfast was smashing but I felt the bar meals were a little bit disappointing, having said that I would recommend the Mallyan and will most certainly stay again.
Check out the winter break offers, we would have booked the 3 for 2 nights had we known. Everyone please go!

Comfortable seating, and very efficient service. Food very nice, toasted sandwich as it says, not done in a machine. I look forward to going again.

Lovely hotel in a quiet spot on the moors. However the prices of the rooms are somewhat expensive. We were charged £160 for a room of 4 which included a double bed and a pull out settee, when pulled out hindered access to the bathroom as the room was not really big enough for 4. Another member of the family was charged the same price for a large junior suite where they had a huge room with more than enough room to access their larger bathroom area. Charging an extra £20 on a room to pull out a bed that makes it a danger to fire evacuation is ridiculous. It is a shame as the food and service were lovely.

My husband and I went yesterday for afternoon tea. Absolutely fabulous and not to be missed! Elegant dining room with scrummy sandwiches (crustless of course) and the most exquisite cake and treat selection. Book now to avoid disappointment. We loved it and will definitely be going back for more!

The Mallyan Spout Hotel is simply wonderful. Visited back in 2009 and the place has not lost its charm. The staff are professional and friendly. The food is fantastic and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Would recommend.

We had a bar meal about 5.00pm and it was excellent. Freshly cooked, good portion and served hot. It was a good price, value for money and the staff were friendly and helpful. We will be back… regularly.

Great place to get away or even if you just fancy a good meal friendly staff.

Room a little small, shower is hot for a few seconds then freezing cold. Breakfast very slow and clearly sat under heat lamps. Evening meals very nice and love the sheep in the car park.

Visited while camping up the road. The food was fantastic, onion rings to die for. A good selection of spirits too. Staff were friendly and the toilets were spotless. Always a good sign. Surrounded by rolling hills, sheep on the road and a great view of the church.

We booked for Sunday lunch yesterday for 7 family members before visiting our dad's grave at a Egton cemetery. We were very disappointed with the food quality. 4 of our group were eating roast dinner and were given one very small portion of cauliflower cheese and was told it was to share! We asked for more as it wasn't nearly enough. The bowls of veg were barely warm as were the plates of meat and potatoes. Consequently the meal was cold before long so didn't enjoy it for this reason.
Dessert was again disappointing. My husband and I both ordered sticky toffee pudding and he asked if he could have custard aswell as the ice cream that accompanied it. My sister had asked for cream aswell as the ice cream with her Brownie. When they arrived we couldn't believe that the toffee sauce was missing from hubbys and chocolate sauce from my sisters! We pointed this out to the staff and she looked blankly at us. We would have gladly paid for the extras we requested but it was plain to see that the chef missed the sauce off because we asked for an extra side. They did add the sauce but the toffee pudding was burnt/ very well done and wasn't very hot again like our mains. We won't be rushing back I'm afraid.

Amazing coffee shop serving Yorkshire Tea and great value food. I would recommend the homemade soup and bread. Staff really friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this cafe to everyone visiting the local area.

Good food (though long wait for it) and decent beer. Friendly staff, and only a short walk from the spout.

The food was amazing! we ate in the bar but the food is most definately not pub food, we both realy enjoyed it and the staff were very accomodating, even the dog enjoyed it. We will definatley return again soon bryan, hull.

Lovely food, and welcoming atmosphere.

The hotel is on the edge of the village, with the public footpath to the waterfall running exactly alongside the hotel. The hotel has a couple of public bars and a resident's lounge. 24 bedrooms some of higher spec, are catered for by in our experience of the menu and service a great staff team who provide a number of menu options, eating from the winter warmer menu the quality is astounding for the price. Bar prices are reasonable and the hot chocolate is very, very good. Pics from the menu — duck spring rolls as a starter cod loin for a main. Lovely village of Goathland which was the set of the popular series Heartbeat, it was also the Hogarth train station in the Harry Potter series. The steam railway runs for most of the year. Great time at the hotel, made to feel welcome and happy to return in the future.

A really enjoyable experience. Hotel very well maintained by the owners. Staff were excellent, well mannered, smart and very helpful. Our room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Have stayed in many hotels in N Yorks and this one was the best.

The Managers could not have been more helpful, especially with our children — the food was amazing and the setting magical — white snow galore!. We could not have wished for anything better. We used the big dinning room which was cleverly transformed from a ceremony room to a banquet area in a short space of time. Our guests were delighted and we have had many cards acknowledging how much the whole day was enjoyed.
