Well where do I even start? Firstly l thanks to the Talbot for closing down last year as it meant we were recommend this absolutely magical place.
Alison the GM has been so kind and helpful throughout these strange times. The staff can’t do enough for you and it has now become our home from home.
Our wedding at the weekend was out of this world and magical. We had it outside in the absolutely pristine grounds and it was the perfect setting for a summer wedding. We had the whole house to ourselves for 2.5 days. All the guests fell in love with the place and sown have booked to come back.
Alison takes you as a couple into her heart and is very protective of you as she wants you to have the best possible day. She is just wonderful.
To add further to the magic, this place is actually owned by Eric Clapton and the honeymoon suite is his usual room. It offers absolutely stunning views and a copper bath which has to be seen to be believed.
If you are considering Burythorpe for a wedding or any event, so not hesitate to book, you will not be disappointed.

Had a lovely afternoon tea was yummy. Staff were really wonderful and the hotel extremely clean and beautiful. The setting is stunning. Highly recommend and highchair for our precious grand daughter who also loved it. Thank you.

We chose to get married at Burythorpe House Hotel back in March as we fell in love with its warm feel and beautiful grounds. Our initial meeting with Alison convinced us that this was a venue that would listen to what we wanted to do, and work with us to create the perfect day. We then sampled the menu in the restaurant and we were instantly sold! Mark’s cooking is fantastic, especially if you’re a meat lover! Then of course, COVID happened. Throughout lockdown and the run up to our wedding (17.10.20) Alison and the team were a godsend. They kept us in the loop, and were so easy to phone and email. The care and attention they put into their work was obvious and we felt well looked after even if we had no idea if the wedding could go ahead. We honestly felt like they cared as much as we did, and they were a delight to work with. We did manage to get married there in October with our 15 people, and it was absolutely perfect. Alison, Luke, Mark and the team did their utmost to make our day special and it showed. In more normal things, the rooms were incredibly comfy and I adored the shower! The views are gorgeous and the area around the hotel is so peaceful. I’d also highly recommend having a beauty treatment in the on-site salon. Karin did my hair and makeup on the wedding day and it was flawless! We WILL be back!

John and the team were great! Fab evening meal and breakfast and lovely rooms! COVID safe and a great 24 hours, highly recommended.

Can’t recommend this hotel more. Lovely Georgian house in the middle of nowhere, with beautifully restored rooms and sumptuous furnishings. Roll top baths make it! The food was sensational. Sea bass cooked to perfection and lamb so succulent. This is a gem!

An absolutely magical place to stay. Beautiful spacious rooms, delicious food in the restaurant. The views from the rooms are delightful, and peaceful. I've stayed several times and each time it was a wonderful break andI l left completely relaxed and contented. Thank you and I look forward to staying again in the future.

Love this place — not been disappointed on any visit.

Although it is a rather nice hotel, the breakfast was inedible. I had a full Yorkshire breakfast, the bacon along with grilled tomatoes, mushrooms and what appeared to be a piece of shoe leather were so tough a knife couldn’t cut them. I was extremely disappointed and if I had a choice I wouldn’t stay again.

Me and my fiancé have stopped here a few times and each time we’ve stayed we are made to feel welcome and the staff are really helpful too. The food is delicious as always. We tried the pool this time and it’s lovely and warm. Looking forward to our next visit!

This place is superb. If you want amazing staff that make you feel welcome from the moment you step through the door, amazing rooms, superb food, magnificent views, a well stocked Gin Bar, piece and quite, romance… then this will tick all the boxes.

Excellent size bed and a bonus when we found out the room was really a suite, the location is very peaceful and relaxing. The whole place is very well appointed.

Lovely people lovely place nice and clean and grounds are lovely and quiet.

We have just used this beautiful hotel for some of our family and friends to stay at for our daughters wedding. Following an eventful Friday evening, I can only describe the weather as a full blown hurricane. With all the issues this caused, the staff were amazing and rearranged everything. Alison, thank you and your team for all you did for the family and friends of the bride and groom to make their day very special. If anyone is thinking of booking just a room or the full hotel hotel then I wouldn't hesitate as it is very friendly hotel and we found that all the staff couldn't be more helpful.

This is a recently renovated country hotel situated in the Yorkshire Wolds about 20 miles east of York. We stayed for 4 nights and we felt at home immediately. The staff were friendly, the food was of a good standard. We found the location peaceful and a good base to explore the many attractions of this area. I'm sure we will return to continue our tour of Yorkshire.

A truly unique hotel in a beautiful setting. The staff are lovely and go the extra mile for you. The rooms are wonderful with sumptuous bathrooms. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. Definitely a place to go to and return to.

Lovely setting and old building. Nice to sit in front of an open fire whilst snow and wind outside.

Returned here after 18 1/2 years, as this was the venue for our wedding reception in 1999. A single night stay, with dinner bed and breakfast, in the Newburgh suite. Beautiful-room, beautiful surroundings, exceptional food and the staff where superb!. Perfect in every way just like it was all those years ago, cannot recommend enough it holds a very special place in my heart this place so Thankyou to all the staff.

Excellent small hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very nice rooms. The new years Eve meal that had was very good. Have been 3 times and will be going back.

Had Christmas Dinner, excellent quality and generous portions. As always the staff were superb, attentive and friendly. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Just like to say a massive thank you to my wedding organiser Alison and her amazing team. I had my wedding there yesterday and I couldn't of chosen a better venue. The staff are so helpful and made you very welcome nothing was too much for them to do for you. Beautiful hotel with fantastic food, staff most helpful. Lovely bedroom with a comfy bed and great bathroom. Location a little remote village about twenty minutes walk away with local pub but not much else. A great stay though.

This is a very beautiful hotel set in the heart of the most amazing Yorkshire Countryside. The inside of the hotel is elegant and well maintained. The Food is superb too. There is also an indoor swimming pool for anyone who wishes to exercise. Highly recommended.

Burythorpe House is both charming and prepossessing. The staff are friendly and welcoming eager to help with anything you may require. Burythorpe House is beautifully decorated, and I found it to be of a high standard of cleanliness. The hotel is very well situated in a rural part of Malton giving breathtaking views of undulating lanscapes that surround Burythorpe House. It's quiet location allows you to enjoy a very restful and peaceful stay away from your tumultuous everyday life. I would vehemently recommend to anyone a visit to this exquisite hotel. My wife and I fully intend to stay again in the near future.

Great place! They staff are very helpful and will do anything for you. We stayed with our 10 month old baby last week, when we arrived early we where not sure the room would be sorted but given a few minutes we where escorted to our lovely room, it was very spacious to accommodate all the baby items and also had a roll top bath tub which was great to bath our son. We had the pool to ourselves both times we went in so got to make some precious memories with our little boy. Lovely local pub just up the road too and flamingo land was only 25min away. Will definitely be returning. Well done burythorpe house for making our holiday great xx.

Only visited for a short time but it seemed very nice.

Dinner with family — food excellent, staff gave us a really warm welcome and great service.

I booked the Priory Restaurantat at Burythorpe House Hotel for my Dad's 90th birthday. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and pre-empted all our requests in an efficient and friendly manner. It certainly made the occasion very enoyable. The food was delicious and satisfied all our many preferences. I supplied the flowers arrangements for the table and the hotel arranged for a local florist to supply coordinating balloons. Prior to the meal we had photos in the garden by a professional photographer, it was a lovely day and the photos turned out well. For the meal we had the smaller room of the main room in the restaurant, with walls of panelled wood, painted duck egg blue, which was perfect. After the meal we went into one of the very tastefully decorated lounges for the birthday cake, coffee and speeches. It was a lovely room to finish off the evening. My father and the whole group were very happy to have chosen Burythorpe House Hotel for this special occasion. Several of the party stayed at the hotel that evening, went swimming in the pool the next day and enjoyed their delicious breakfast.

Absolutely amazing in every aspect; beautiful building, immaculately clean, lovely staff, tasteful decor and a huge and very comfortable bed in the standard double room. It's just very nicely done and yet not pretentious. I'm surprised this is only a 3 star hotel. My only criticism is that the pool was definitely not heated and was freezing! But that of course didn't matter as we really enjoyed our stay.

Very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere with open fires I'm the drawing rooms. We stayed in a luxury room and the upgrade was worth it, spacious room with a bath in the main bedroom with a large bathroom also, very comfortable. The food is very good but the staff are what really male your experience special, especially Monica who couldn't do enough for us. I just don't understand how this place only has 3 stars.

A luxury little hotel with lovely staff and amazing food! Its a great place to stay for seeing the sights of York. I would love to go every weekend and will be staying again.
