A work in progress I think. Not the cleanest of Bed and Breakfast accommodation. The garden is a hazard and looks like a building site. Great location for Beverley Town Centre and seconds away from the magnificent Minster. The potential for this accommodation is brilliant.

Tea/ coffee making facilities, a fridge and a fan, upped my rating :-) Lacking love this guest house, sadly, inside and out. Bedroom furniture/ 'shings, were adequately provided, incl. Table & chairs. Only x1 towel for 2 people provided. Did not receive the other, after requesting. Bedding clean and beds were comfortable (tick) Hot water (tick) bath was therefore useable and indeed used. No shower curtain, so shower was out. NO bath/ shower floor mat. Improvised with a pillowcase. Cleaning standard was really to be declared as below average, although it initially appeared O. K. Noticeably grubby areas, after settling in. Namely : — bedside tables, bathroom and bedroom floors. BE WARNED, although a delightful building is 'Beverley Minster' next door, the bells chime every 15 mins, getting longer each 15 mins thereafter until the hourly gongs are present, representing the corresponding hour. This occurs throughout the entire 24 hours!

Lovely place, clean spacious great views and location. Don't believe the horrible feedback left by others.

I totally disagree with everyone’s bad reviews, I stopped in room 10 just overnight with my fiancé and had nothing to complain about really. The room was clean, the bed was comfy, bathroom was spotless and the owner was nice. Would definitely stop again, really cheap too. I think everyone’s being too dramatic if I’m honest.

Don't know was next door doing a kitchen. Looked nice from the outside.

The owner couldn't care he's in his own world… I had to defend myself from his tirade of f bombs directed at me … he had a fire on at the time and since then I have had visions of regret that I did not engage in physical violence with him, the scene was set with the fire on and spade at the ready… on a plus side I liked his southern accent and think he should become a villain in a London gangster film…

The booking was easy and John was very helpful. Free parking with the loan of a parking permit from John. The house in its heyday would have been very grand. Some lovely old features too and our ensuit room was large, warm and comfortable. Clean bedding and towels and the carpet was hoovered well but there were dusty surfaces. Just needs a bit of TLC There was everything that we needed, nice view, close to town etc. I would stay again :) loved being near the Minster. Price was good :)

Stayed here when I was working in hull we booked the flat. It would have been better staying in my van. He took the money as soon as I said im not staying. The bloke is a conman I wanted to punch him all over. The whole place was damp and not fit for an animal. He was drunk and staying in his caravan on the driveway. If you dont want a shower or a nice bed and want a fight this is the place for you. The owner will automatically think he is better than you. Im back in beverley in February for more work so will see if he wants to have a drink and a catch up.

Has a sexist sign up saying 'Women are not welcome' owner says he doesn't like them or speak to them. Probably because they complain about the substandard service, cleanliness, food, hygiene and customer service. He won't be in business much longer. Vile, you'll have a better experience sleeping in a tent.

Please please don't book in this hotel, the owner is fully drunk all the time, very abusive and racist person, he abused me and very racist. No manners no athecates, rooms are very messy, electric cables all over the place, papers all over the place, no cleaning and the place sting. I'll never ever coming to them again. Not even worth for one star, I don't recommend anyone to stay here. This is my first review ever only online am giving. Stay away from this hotel if you don't want to get abused. The owner charged me extra for no reason. Please don't get rip off by this Muppet.

This place is not that bad For the ££££ you pay We was in room 3 Bed 10 Tv 7 Room 7 Bathroom 7 will be a 10 when finished Bath was not working as they was fitting a new one but when it is fitted it will be a 10 Shower 10

We checked in to find the owner drunk out of his mind smoking his face off. Rooms are dated, walls were dirty. Blind in Bathroom didn't work, not that you'd want to shower in there as you'd come out more dirty than you went in, but a little privacy from passing traffic is nice when using the toilet. The lock on my door didn't work. Listened to who I presume was the owner listen to his collection of disco classics and agressivly shout at someone from 2:30am to when he passed out at 6:45am. Im partial to a bit of Donna Summer and Pet shop boys, when I pay for a room to sleep in thats the least I expect from it. The whole house was left un locked with Keys in the rooms that were not used for anyone to just walk in and use. God knows how this place is still standing, its damn right dangerous. I wouldn't want to be in there if god forbid it caught fire due to careless behaviour. Spend the extra tenner and stay somewhere nice where you'll be safe.

I don't know why people have been knocking this place. The rooms are clean and tidy and cleanliness of the bed linen and towels are great. It's a credit to the house keepers who arrange all this. The building is dated, but if it was built in Edwardian times, what do you expect… the Ritz?

Clearly the biggest failing here was not reading the reviews… I can categorically confirm that Minster Garth Guest house is the worse accommodation I've ever spent money on! I think the stand out feature of this wholly unpleasant experience was the bed. It was as if the owners of this regrettable eyesore had taken to the mattress with pliers, intent only on making it into an implement of torture, knowing with certainty no one would ever dream of going back for a second night. Had it not been for the fact I was sufficiently intoxicated to pass out, I can not imagine how I would have gotten to sleep. In fact, had I been sober, I would have gone and slept in my car, which is tiny, but at least unlikely to stab me in the middle of the night… There is much more I could say, you only need read the other reviews to understand… I wish I had : (

Very confusing check in, but nice room although bit of a wasp thing going on this morning.

We stayed here because it was the only room we could get — we were visiting Hull for a gig. It was terrible. I've never written a review before on-line but I really wouldn't recommend anyone to stay here, even if you are desperate. It was very dirty — the room, bathrooms, carpets, walls, windows — and the bed was very old and uncomfortable. Twas no one around to check out. We waited 35 minutes before we just left. If we hadn't pre paid, I think I would have disputed the cost — it was really over priced because of the lack of cleanliness. I really hope the owner takes note of the feedback. It's a beautiful building in a lovely part of the world, but such a shame. I had to give one star in order to post this review but really…

This is going to be long and honest. When you come in, friendly man came and let us in the hallway. Slight muffy smell, but not uncommon in older buildings. Doors newly painted and overall looked fairly clean. 5/5 Coming in to the room there were stains on the rug, stains on the wall from old plugs. Small annoyance that one of the walls had a slight other colour than the rest, it was supposed to be gold and make it look "fashionable", however opinions might differ. 4/5 Then we found out shower didn't work, this is the point where I should've left. He didn't seem to care much, offered us a discount which I refused. Later he did fix it by last moment changing the shower around with his own. That grossed me quite but within reason. Plugs and wires were laying around in the family room, not entirely save especially that only one of the plugs seemed to work. 3/5 Shower barely gave warm water, had holes sticking out where an towel heater used to be. If someone slipped in the bath against it, it would cause major problems. Bed gave me incredible back pain, and I'm only 25. 2/5 After all this I wanted to leave, turn in the key but no one showed, not after ringing the bell twice, phone number twice and knocking his door. Whilst walking out got called back and discussed with him that I wasn't happy with his service and that I wanted to talk face to face about this, he refused.

Horrendous. This is not a guest house!

We selected this as some of our party had already checked in, and most other places in Beverley were booked. In hindsight I don’t regret staying here, but I wont be back. Location for Beverley centre is excellent, no more than 10 mins walk into town centre. The lady who works the reception is very helpful and professional, the man much less so, to be honest quite confrontational and very unprofessional. Possibly trying the friendly approach, but I wasn't impressed by his manner. Upon arrival he handed me a parking permit and told we had room number 6 and 7 and walked away. I stood waiting for him to return and only for the lady to arrive not realising I had already been "attended to". She kindly offered to fill out the permit for me, quote "You need a degree in these to fill them out properly! " Thanks for doing that for me! Parking was included in the charge for the rooms, and the permit you are given is a residents permit, so you can park anywhere in Beverley that requires a residents permit which is handy and a nice perk. We had two of their standard rooms on the top floor. The man who runs the B&B referred to these as budget rooms, and I think this is the only time I agreed with him. We were in room 7, which their website actually lists as a single, but when we stayed was actually a twin. The photographs don't show the polyfilla marks etc. On the walls either. Beds were comfy and clean and I had a goods nights sleep.

Not recommended at all. This venue is dysfunctional.

I stayed at Minster Garth Guest House last night and cannot understand the complaints of the other people. The owner was very gentle and helpful. Room and breakfast were goof and I met some nice other guests who also enjoyed to stay there.

Rudest man I have had the misfortune to meet who runs that place!

We used the Guest House for business purposes. I booked 2 people in but they only had 1 room on the day which meant my colleague had to find somewhere else on the night. We have asked for a receipt of payment 3 times without any. Joy I finally called and spoke to the manager. A very very rude and arrogant man and have never been spoke to like it before. Please do not book at this guest house.

I stayed here recently. I found the owner/manager to be rude and unhelpful. Rooms were freezing cold. Parking in the local residential area is difficult. I would not stay here again.
