Only had a pint but very nice … bar clean nice people.

Food looked good, other people in our party said they enjoyed their meal. Unfortunately the service was terrible there was no organisation between staff, we had our drinks order mixed up and we were asked to remind the staff of which drinks we ordered TWICE.

Seats and table where dirty, ask for wipes but nothing appeared. Waiting over an hour to get drinks and food ordered
Have a sharing Camembert it was 1/4 of one for £9 was over cooked when told staff this nothing happened.
Main turned up as we were eating the starter, no merlot, no burgers, no lollies and we were here at 12pm
Staff were rude and it wasn’t a nice experience. Save your money go somewhere else.

Booked for christmas eve to cheer us up, got there to be told they weren’t serving food after 6 due to there being a dj on but we werent told about this when booking. Has been looking forward to this all day very disappointing. Heard your food is lovely too, shame we didnt get to try.

First visit since lockdown. Venue very safe and have an excellent one way system in place. Table service and nicely spaced out. Went for bottomless brunch and I have to say it was amazing. The service was excellent. Very attentive. Immediately served a glass of prosecco on arrival. We Have already booked to come back again.

No COVID19 adherence whatsoever! It was like stepping into a parallel universe in 2019 and no one knew there is a pandemic outside … shockingly disappointing when we are on the verge of a further lockdown … won’t be visiting again and can’t recommend at this time.

Amazing delivery service for their afternoon tea. Hassle free ordering, even for someone with a few food issues. Arrived in allotted time slot, with a friendly lady. Best of all the afternoon tea was extremely tasty.

We had an impromptu lunch here today and it was so lovely. I had a fish finger sandwich which came with a small mug of soup and it was delicious. The starter portions would easily be a good main course. It’s a great family pub too.

Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and the home made burgers were delicious. Will definately come back.

Had hubbys 40th birthday bbq at The Ship and Bell today (July 6th) … everything about the day was perfect … food was absolutely delicious, staff were attentive and friendly and the garden was ideal. All our guests commented on how fab everything was … so a huge thank you to you guys xx.

We went for brunch which was very good. The serving staff were very pleasant and the food was hot and good.

Nice friendly place. Didn't eat there so can't say about the food although they are setup as a gastro style pub Only downer was price of drinks, but I am used to Spoon's prices so TBE…

Used to be the brewery for Gale's Ale's & wine Cherry was my favorite. You can still buy HSB but be careful trying to get out of car park. Cheers.

I came here to join a group of friends to watch a mutual friend's band play for a hot early May Bank Holiday afternoon. These music events are regular I understand & the music was good & lively. There's a larger than average outdoor space for a pub & they were selling real cask ciders & ales in 2 litre bottles to take away @ only £5 a pop! There was a BBQ & Bouncy Castle. Lots of benches & tables, paved & grassed areas, old historic pub by the looks of it.

Excellent tasty food, large portions and well worth the money. Exceptional friendly service and warm welcome too. My mum's in a wheelchair and they accommodated her no problem. So lovely to find a place that's wheelchair friendly and nothings too much trouble x will definitely come back here again xx Thankyou x definitely and highly recommend a visit x.

We ate in the restaurant and I have to say the ambiance was great, the restaurant nearly full and the staff very friendly. We were confused our table was the only one without a Christmas tablecloth & festive menus but we only had to mention it and it was rectified. The food was great and service excellent. Can definitely recommend it, a huge change from past experiences now it is under new management.

Nice, warm, quiet and friendly pub. Comfy chairs and fireplaces. Not much to do though. Dog friendly — large garden and treats available.

Quick drink with my sister and her family. Nice location. Lots of parking. Cheap drinks. And very friendly staff.

Good mix of soft or alcohol beverages at the bar. Pasta meals were not as flavorsome as described and the eating area was a bit small. Other then that the staff were friendly and helpful and the prices of the food were average to good.

Popped in for Lunch whilst passing by on the A3. Pub is lovely as are the staff. We had the fish and chips and steak pie. Both were perfect and we liked the smaller lunch sizes.

Great food, great service and beautiful surroundings. The guys have done a great job with raising the bar! The best fish and chips that I have had for a long time!

Very friendly, meals were good, I had steak pie chips and peas, I would have enjoyed it more with some fresh veg. With it rather than peas. My husband had steak and thoroughly enjoyed it, it was beautifully cooked. My grandson had a free child's meal plus a pudding. On top of that they looked something up on the computer for us. So I/we have no hesitation in giving the pub restaurant the highest recommendation. Try it.

Authentic Family run pub! Good food for a fair price.

The Shop and bell has recently been refurbished. Great family now running the place. Shame pool table has gone but can see they are changing the dynamic. Great place for all to go.

We had a lovely evening at the Ship & Bell on Friday night, initially sat in the rear garden, enjoying a few drinks in the sunshine. We are in the restaurant and I had the gammon which was agreeable but could have been enhanced with the addition of some garden peas. My wife had the king pawn tagliatelle but unfortunately was disappointing as the sauce was very watery. If they tweeted the menu a little and focused on the quality this could be a little gold mine.

Nice place to stay, good food, lovely room and great breakfast. The staff were great and landlord very nice and friendly.

My friends and I. Were really looking forward to checking out the newly refurbished Ship and Bell and watching some live entertainment. We very much enjoy the atmosphere a band can create and came to the ship and Bell last night to watch the Manic Muddlers. We were extremely disappointed that the band were hidden in a corner towards the back of the bar. The majority of people in the bar were unable to see the band and so there could be no interaction between the band and their audience. I understand that a few people may prefer to have a quiet drink but there is another bar by the restaurant for this. We feel it would be far better to locate the entertainment in the front of the pub by the window opposite the bar where all can enjoy. The new decor is lovely and it would be wonderful to be able to use the Ship and Bell more regularly, however, the lack of atmosphere has put me off and could be so easily rectified.

Just need to have more staff to serve in the bar as we experience on 2 visit that we wait for some time to be served and not in sequence of who was first, seemed to be more interested in collecting glass or getting drinks for diners, I hope this public house isn't going to be just about the restaurant, as this has always been our local. The improvements that has been made in respect of the building, I must say you have done a brilliant job.

My friend and I popped in there yesterday for dinner and glad we did. We both ordered the liver and bacon and it was delicious. The service was great too. My friend has an allergy to Rapeseed and all efforts were made to inform her of all the ingredients in the meals and she was well looked after. We will definitely be going back to try out their other home made meals.

Food and staff are great. Great evening meal. Lovely breakfast but… Accommodation seriously in need of refurbishment. Peeling wallpaper. … damp on windows. … and a strange smell in the room. Room 12 to be precise. Refurb the rooms and up your prices. Unless I was just unlucky. I was too tired to argue the toss. Bed was comfy.

We stayed here for the weekend and we had a lovely time in both the hotel part and pub. The room was clean & spacious and perfect for a weekend away. The staff were friendly and kind the whole time we were there as well. I'd highly recommend the food too, as it was fresh, delicious and very reasonably priced! The location was very close to beaches and to downtown Portsmouth which was perfect for us! We will definitely be back! :)

Come on Fullers, this pub is long past the time that it was desperately in need of a major clean up, redecoration and modernisation! I hesitate to say how most of the discerning local residents describe it — needless to say it's not complimentary! Are you maybe hoping to justify shutting it down to become part of the Gales brewery redevelopment.

Just back from a two night stay at the ship and bell. Staff were helpful and the rooms were tidy and clean. Perfect for the visit to Portsmouth. The meal was reasonable price and the pie and mash was very nice. Beer was in excellent condition and average price. 7.5 /10.

Stayed for one night as we were working in portsmouth, ship and bell was that good made the work last another day went back for another night, clean room fresh crispy bed and friendly new zealander working there served breakfast recommended.
