As a wedding photographer, this is a beautiful venue to marry in. Architecturally stunning, with endless photo opportunities. The grounds are equally beautiful. The staff are great and welcoming. Well worth have a look around.

I recently stayed here for a wedding and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The venue is stunning and the rooms were very clean and tidy. At times the service wasn’t quite there, with having a request things multiple times but all in all a great stay.

Only had afternoon tea here but really helpful considerate staff!

My friend and I experienced a totally peaceful and relaxing pool day with the most lovely massage treatment, tasty lunch, fabulous poolside cocktail, gorgeous jacuzzi and warm swimming pool, with lovely friendly staff all around us. The hotel gardens are simply amazing and stunning and a joy to experience. We will be returning for sure! Thank you Great Fosters, you made our day😎

We attended a lovely wedding reception here, and stayed the night in the quirky, very comfortable Tower Room. Up a tight spiral staircase and with our own private shower room on the floor below. It has wonderful views over the knot gardens, and along the roofs and chimneys. The wedding reception was very well done, with excellent food and drink served by plenty of attentive staff, in a beautiful hall.
We particularly enjoyed exploring the gorgeous gardens in the twilight, and early the next morning. I took too many photos!

Had 2 amazing nights at Great Fosters. 8 course tasting menu was delicious. Heated outdoor pool perfect for early morning swims. Massage and facial was just what I needed. Staff very friendly and helpful

Beautiful place full of history. The staff are always so welcoming and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We would thoroughly recommend for afternoon teas which are amazing.

Wonderful space, great service and tasty food, all of the highest order. In time of covid, the Great Fosters team have utilised their beautiful spaces, cleverly and importantly for us, it felt incredibly safe. The food here is always superb, today the Pea Soup was exceptionally tasty, great fresh flavour, while the sauce with the chicken breast was a real winner. I doubled up on the burger and that was very satisfying, slight adjustments are a pleasure for Manfred and the team here. It's an incredible building and we've eaten here on many occasions and have yet to be dissapointed. All our servers were helpful and delightful.

Great Michelin starred food in the Tudor Room restaurant. Shame they’ve had to reduce the tasting menu to 5 courses to allow time for 2 sittings. Totally understandable though given they can only seat 10 people a time thanks to the virus.

The best high tea in my life. So delicious and too much food. They pack up what you don’t eat in sweet little cardboard handbags.

A warm welcome greets you as you walk into this historic hotel, all the staff we engaged with were polite and courteous, the buildings interior and gardens are matched to the period with some modern colours thrown in.
We went for afternoon tea and it was an experience one can only compliment for the amount of cakes, scones, and sandwiches/rolls all of different flavours followed with a multitude of choices of teas, hot drinks, wine and Fizz. I would highly recommend you visit.

Rats… would not have expected the beautiful hotel and amazing afternoon tea to be taken with them… and although mentioned to staff and managers they really didn’t care!

Great pre dinner Bar, followed by excellent dinner in ancient surroundings, with very friendly and informative hosts!

The restaurant was a hidden gem. We didn't plan to go there, discover by chance on the way back to London. The food was very very nice! We had a very nice lunch. The kitchen was able to accommodate my special dietary requirements even on spot at a random weekday afternoon. The decor at the fine dinning restaurant was very nice and up market. The hotel seems to be well maintained.

I took my best friend for afternoon tea yesterday afternoon, and it was simply amazing. We sat outside by the moat, sun was shining and the atmosphere was really good. My friend enjoyed her first afternoon tea and I'm sure it won't be our last. I can't recommend great fosters enough. Only one negative point that wasn't in any way great fosters fault is I'm now looking like a half cooked lobster from being sat half in the sun.

We are huge fans of Great Fosters, having been 3 times this year. We came for a special meal for my boyfriend's 30th birthday and can honestly say it was the best service we have ever received. We were so impressed by the friendly staff and attention to detail. A particular thank you to the wonderful restaurant manager, who had us in stitches. We felt very relaxed and the food was exceptionally tasty. I would recommend this restaurant to all. We also came for an afternoon tea a few weeks ago and both agreed it was the best afternoon tea we have ever had. We love Great Fosters so much we are even considering it for our upcoming wedding, and thus far Lisa from the events team has been extremely helpful and efficient. We look forward to returning shortly!

Excellent tasting menu. Wonderful food and great service. The taste and quality were outstanding and worth every penny. The staff were courteous and attentive and although the maitre d' was a little intrusive he said that this was his last week at Great Fosters so no doubt his successor will be more discreet. Watch out Jersey; that's where he is heading! The food was served beautifully and explained in detail. Prepared exquisitely each dish was carefully thought out and brilliantly executed. The Tudor Room added to the ambience and we would definitely recommend the experience.

We have been to great fosters a few times and got married there a few years ago, this time went back for our anniversary and wanted to have a special first night out since having our baby. We were eating in the estate grill which had some great food, however as it was a nice night they suggested eating outside. Unfortunately we saw a rat scurrying around when we were just finishing our starters and told the staff quietly so they could hopefully scare it off. Unfortunately this wasnt the only time we saw the rat and actually saw it around 5-6 times in the night so wasn't exactly the nicest romantic night. Apart form the rat, another issue we had was with one of the waitresses didn't seem to know the menu. When we asked what flavor a jelly was she said jelly flavoured. There were a few other issues we had in the night, so it was enjoyable but not as special as we had hoped.

Try its fine dining 4 course lunch or 6 course dinner. A culinary delight at very fair price. Must be experienced. Best food and best service I have ever had. Let the sommelier guide you through the world of wine parings or a unique bottle of wine with your meal. Perfect for intimate quiet dining no children will disturb your evening.

Beautiful hotel, staff lovely, attended a wedding and stayed over. Wedding planner was just so amazing. Just one niggle… as weddings take place afternoon, we had a very long journey, but rooms are not ready until after/ during wedding! That was stressful. Even, though a room was allocated for 6 of us to change in, we had to all pack our luggage back again when our room did become available, same time, we had to be at the wedding. The staff helped, but this timing needs to be tweaked. Breakfast was brilliant, they even put the wedding guests in a room together. Beautiful place.

My wife and I got married here, and have eaten at the restaurant several times as well. The food is always incredible and the wedding day went incredibly smoothly thanks to the tireless efforts of the events manager and his staff. The grounds are beautiful and despite the rain on the day we still got some amazing photos, because the interior is equally stunning.

I visited Great Fosters hotel for a wedding on maybe one of the sunniest days in UK for many years now. On arrival we noticed the building which is quite impressive and stands out. Inside, you're feeling like you're in another era. Everything seems like it was left untouched for many years but of course excellent preserved. Nevertheless the floor is quite squeaky and ceilings quite low. The garden is amazing. Seems endless and everything is very well taken care of. We must have spent almost 2 hours walking around. The room was a bit of disappointment, especially given the price level (300£ per day). It is spacious and with good facilities but far from impressive (weighing all factors: price / place / time). Of course that's our impression as a couple at late 30s. For more senior people might be ideal. We had a snack in the bar and couple of drinks. All were fine and nicely served. Staff were very polite. Couple of exceptions wasn't off putting. We had a nice time but I wouldn't return again for a second visit. We believe that the hotel. Ks more recommended for more senior people. P. S. : It's awful when customers post reviews of one star without any explanation, so I understand the frustration of the owner. Nevertheless is equally awful when the hotel, representative responds publicly in the bad tone. Filter the one star reviews and you will understand what I mean.

Great wedding venue with gorgeous interiors and beautiful grounds with landscaped gardens and water features. I photographed an intimate wedding there recently and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a venue in the area. Great food and helpful staff as well!

We have visited twice, once for an evening meal and once for afternoon tea. The dinner was one of the best meals we've ever had and the staff were fantastic (great attention to detail and very friendly). Likewise, the afternoon tea was great (the cakes in particular were something special). The setting is splendid, you won't find many dining experiences quite like it. Also if you visit for afternoon tea, a brief walk in the formal garden shouldn't be passed over!

We booked afternoon tea for my friends 40th Birthday. From the moment we arrived the staff were amazing. So helpful and charming. Especially our waiter Casper. Not a cheap hotel but steeped in history and a good choice of things to see and do. The grounds around the hotel are well maintained and a great diversion. The restaurant we were able to book (bit of a co@k up on the catering front) was excellent. The cocktail bar is pleasant and offers a wide range of drinks and afternoon teas. We attended a wedding event and the service was impeccable. Rooms in the main house are cosy and well furnished, but retain a lovely old world charm.

Me and my girlfriend have been in Great Forest for the wedding of two good friends of us. The hotel is beautiful, as is the garden. The food was very nice as well. Ovetall, a great experience!

Went to The Estate Grill and what a wonderful atmosphere. Me and my partner came here as a belated Valentine's and thought it was a lovely evening, the food and the service was excellent and the restaurant itself was beautiful. It came to around £65 per head for three courses so altogether not too bad, I have no issues with coming here again!

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff were lovely and very accommodating. The decor is mixture of historic and contemporary styles, blended successfully, and there are drawings (Hans Holbein) and tapestries all throughout the hotel. The food is also exquisite and I was impressed with the bedroom facilities (Pip Studio teapot and Bluetooth radio with complementary water and breakfast room service was a nice touch). I hope to stay there again soon!

One of the hidden secrets, Great Fosters with its graceful demeanor and imposing historical ambience, requires big-ish valet and classy wardrobe. It is far from cheap, on contrary — it is a place where you stay for a very special occasion — romantic and obliging. The service is superb: great menu at the restaurant; beautiful and large rooms, Tutor style; beautiful gardens. While there, ask to be shown around on a brief tour: some rooms are incredible. The history is amazing. The verdict: save £££ and try it yourself!

Holiday in the castle if you can have good English and want to have a rest, wonderful. An oasis at the gates of London with public connection and staff that is very pleasant. But… cheap is not fun;)

An historic building, full of charm and character. The Christmas decorations were fantastic, the best I have ever seen. The staff were knowledgeable and so helpful. We loved it and can't wait to go again.

I brought my mother and father in law, my mother, and my grandmother here for afternoon tea on 23rd December. We had a wheelchair user within our group, and were shown by a member of staff to the accessible entrance, and then given a beautiful table right by a roaring log fire. From the very beginning the staff could not do enough for us, they were incredibly helpful and attentive all throughout our visit. Our waiter Miguel was fantastic. He explained all of the different menu options to us, and once we had chosen our drinks everything was brought out quickly. We were offered more sandwiches, which we of course accepted! I would highly recommend the basil bread with cucumber and cream cheese filling. Once we had eaten huge amounts of sandwiches, out came the cakes. Glorious cakes, so much variety, and all baked to perfection. We left extremely full, but very happy. I would highly recommend this place for a very classy afternoon tea in a gorgeous location steeped in history. I would also like to say a big thankyou to the staff at Great Fosters for being so accommodating to my mother in law, who is in a wheelchair. It's so appreciated to go somewhere that not only has disabled access, but also a place that has staff who are more than willing to assist wherever possible. Lovely property hidden away. Sunday lunch in the grill restaurant was a nice experience. Small dining room and decent food.

Nice 400 year old historic building with a lovely formal garden and water features. The hotel room was very clean, the bed comfortable and breakfast was good. Staff was very friendly. We had an excellent supper in the Tudor Room. We can recommend this hotel, it’s nice for a break and also not far from London Heathrow.

Took my parents and son there for an afternoon tea. It was wonderful. We took vegetarian sandwiches and cakes. Had Earl Grey tea, son had hot chocolate with marshmallows, parents took Breakfast Tea. Food was very tasty and a very large selection. Presentation was excellent. Service was very polite and friendly. The atmosphere was so calm and relaxing. I long to go there again soon. It is a real get away from it all place. You;re allowed to take 2 hrs for the experience which in my opinion was sufficient. Totally recommended.

Stayed at this fabulous hotel for a work offsite for 2 nights. We also had a room booked in their business section of the hotel. The hotel was gorgeous, and the staff were extremely accommodating in everything we asked. Nothing they couldn't do or was too much. My room was in the main building, and although it was not one of the "historical" rooms, it was beautiful and cosy and I had an amazing view of the vast gardens. The food was absolutely delicious as were the very well made cocktails. The meeting room we were in was bright and spacious, with a lovely view out onto a courtyard. A delightful place to stay, I would highly recommend!

Good meal though there were some issues with food (roast beef not warm enough, cold plates etc) for others in our party. Staff were amazing but at times felt short staffed. We found out a large wedding was also being held the same day but our booking had also been accepted. I repeat, service staff were impeccable, however it felt the managers had over booked beyond their means.

I visited Great Fosters for a wedding reception, it was a wonderful day. The wedding venue is beautiful, the food outstanding and the staff friendly and helpful. It's also fantastic to walk around the grounds of the hotel as they are stunning. Would definitely recommend to couples looking for the perfect place to celebrate their marriage.

One of the most spectacular settings I've ever attended for a wedding. The building and grounds leave you in awe. The staff are friendly, courteous and welcoming. It's really hard to say what's so great about this venue, you can gather a little from pictures, but being there is a whole different experience. In short as a guest at a function I really couldn't recommend this enough.

Came here for afternoon tea on the way to Heathrow airport. We did not stay overnight. The afternoon tea is luxurious with an incredible range of teas (though my missus ordered iced coffee, the heathen! ) They offer a range of classic finger sandwiches and home-baked scones with lashings of clotted cream and jam. The whole thing is incredibly filling so don't make dinner plans. The grounds are very quaint and provide a delightful opportunity to burn off some of those cakes. We spent about 45 minutes wandering around freely; there was even a wedding taking place! Every member of staff we interacted with was courteous, professional and genuinely warm, and really made us feel at home. We will likely come back to stay to see what the rooms are like.

Booked a meal here for my wife's birthday. What an incredible venue. Fabulous food wonderful staff who are highly professional. Just one evening felt like a holiday. Wandering around the gardens was magical in the dim light of dusk. Beautiful evening. We will be back.

Attended a wedding here. Good location, close to the m25 with a train station and various cheaper hotels nearby. Very extravagant place. Some of the wait staff weren't very friendly and the food wasn't up to much, but a great historic venue.

Was at Great Fosters for a wedding and stayed the night also. Service was impeccable and the staff were incredibly attentive on the wedding side. Checking in the staff were very friendly and helpful and everyone we passed always greeted us. Venue is amazing and very stunning and couldn't think of a better place for a wedding. We hired one of the private dinning rooms to host a lunch with our friends. The staff were extremely friendly and kind, food delicious and their gardens are full of intimate little pockets where you can get some peace and privacy if you need it.

Had a day in one of their meeting rooms. Location was great and the meeting room was fine. Buffet food supplied was above the normal standard in quality with coffees, teas and juice in about supply.

I have been going to Great Fosters for years and have always been impressed. This time the food and setting were amazing as always, but the service wasn't quite up to its usual standard. I presume this was due to the fact that they are so busy at this time of year, but it will not stop me from returning in the New Year.

Me and my wife got married here in October 2015. What a truly magical day we had. The venue and the staff were fabulous throughout. Anybody thinking of booking there day here GO FOR IT! You won't be disappointed!

We enjoyed a most memorable dinner and evening for my wife's birthday with our friends from the UK and Canada. Five stars for the cuisine, service and room. The setting made it truly historic.
