The pub was lovely but the b&b side was poor there were hair on the bed even though it was cleaned before we got in there the carpet was unhoovered. Dusty in the room tears in the bedding and bottom sheet as Well as stains massive on the bedding too. Not to mention the bed sloping to one end and part of the devan being held up by a insect trap box so for a 105 pounds a night, I was quite disappointed. As I say lovely place just needs work on the rooms side. The breakfast was lovely.

As a party of 9 we stayed here for a weekend with friends for one night (May). The people there were very helpful and the night was exactly what we needed it to be. Comfy and cozy place with a lovely beer garden bathed in sunshine and in a very peaceful village. However; coming from London; please be aware that unless you have your own car; you will have to take cabs to go everywhere from here. Breakfast choice was decent and of good quality.

Stayed in the Horse & Groom B&B for one night in late April. It was a nice, clean and comfy base, set in a very peaceful location. I believe they were fully booked and yet we did not hear any other guests during the night, which is quite rare in many B&Bs or hotels. The room was dog-friendly, though there was no "doggy" smell, often associated with such places. There was a handy little area to let our dog go to the toilet, without fear of her straying off towards the road. The bed was very comfy and huge! We both enjoyed a nice relaxing night's sleep Breakfast was lovely, choice of full English or smoked salmon and scrambled; we had both between us and thought they were delicious. All in all a very pleasant stay, that would be absolutely perfect for a few days break.

Second time of going to the horse and groom and had amazing food, and always have a warm welcome.

Great dog friendly pub and B and B in a beautiful village with great walks. Lovely atmosphere, great friendly hard working staff. Felt very welcome. Great menu and good choice of wine. Room was spacious, clean and well presented.

A nice traditional country pub with friendly staff and friendly dog. Rooms were comfy. Ideal location a few miles out of Chichester.

We decided to visit the Horse and groom to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and more than substantial amounts. The food selection was good. A must visit if you are in the area!

Very good food, I went there as part of a birthday surprise and they were all very friendly. The staff kept the younger kids entertained by giving them a drawing contest while waiting for food which was lovely.

Fantastic room with comfy feel to it. Very quiet and an excellent breakfast the following morning. Would happily stay here again in the future.

On arrival the two young females behind the bar seemed quite welcoming. Our party included three adults with a ten month old baby when I asked if they had a high chair they stated one was in use and after a large sigh we were handed a seat that attached to the table, this was absolutely filthy. In an attempt to convince our party that everything was going to be fine we ordered drinks. Our baby needed changing and there were no facilities to do this! Stupidly we continued to order food. This was also very disappointing. I ordered a pulled pork bap priced at £11.50 which turned out to be deep fat fried bacon in a BBQ sauce. Although we were all dissatisfied we paid and thanked the girls as we left. To end our experience on a high a male from behind the bar, that we hadn't seen before decided to mock a member of our party by shouting after us 'thanks ladies' repeating our comment knowing there were males with us. This stupidity inspired me to write this very honest and Frank review. Not a friendly pub and the food does not compensate.

The front part has a lovely country pub atmosphere with very good real ales and plenty early evening trade. Dark Star Hophead sold here is one of my favourites and nowhere serves it better. We had a very pleasant meal in the restaurant. Quality and quantities we excellent. I recommend the lamb half shoulder; you wont go away hungry.

This is a lovely place to stay, clean rooms, lovely breakfast and delicious dinner. Staff is friendly and helpful. During our stay we had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend not only because of the excellent location, which allowed us to see so many attractions around, but the place itself. 17th century pub is worth seeing and when connected with first grade ales served at the bar and food that is absolutely delicious (best steak I had — cooked to perfection) — can you ask for more? I would definitely recommend, and I will come back next time.

One of the best pubs in Chichester, and I mean it. Me and my friends absolutely loved the atmosphere, great ales and especially — food. Will recommend and will come back.

We enjoyed a very pleasant lunch here: steak and ale pie for me, with a delicious cloudy cider to wash it down; fish cakes for my wife. The staff were friendly and cheerful. And afterwards we walked a short distance to some woods where we were met with a sea of bluebells covering the ground around the trees.

The food is not cheap, but absolutely fantastic, well presented, "home cooked food" and decent portions. I highly recommend it. Nicely kept pub. Worth a visit.

Nice pub, good food and friendly, helpful staff. We were very disappointed with our room : bland, basic and boring and, at £80 per night for the two of us, poor value we felt. Contrary to the website implication of a cosy, historic coaching inn the accommodation was more like a low grade motel. Four stars for the pub, two stars for the accommodation.
