Brilliant staff, lovely food thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Oh why haven’t we been before! Clean modern/olde worlde clever mix pub & restaurant with a huge garden with plenty of outside seating. Extensive drinks bar and a really unique & unusual tasty menu as well as the family favourites. Friendly helpful staff with a good service and food served hot & well presented in a timely manner. Well done chefs! Average prices for the area but this food is yummy! Well recommended… we’ll be back!

Stopped here on the way back from the seaside. Very warm and welcoming staff, good food great value for money. Would highly recommend A.

From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome. The staff were friendly, helpful and looked happy to be working! The food menu choices were amazing as was the drinks menu. Fresh mint picked for my g&t…
The food was beautifully presented, tasted delicious and all using local and home grown produce.
We will definitely adding this to our list of places to eat and drink!

First 2 visits to the Blacksmiths and both roasts were superb… 3rd visit and a massive disappointment to everyone at our table and it was all down to the potatoes. Whoever thought to add black pepper to a roast potato needs shooting, but a chef that thinks it’s ok to smother them in said pepper shouldn’t be allowed in a kitchen. Not sure on their choice of potato, but they were hard to cut and tasted vile.
Blacksmiths please return to your old way of cooking.

What a find. Great atmosphere, attentive staff, tasty food, — interesting menu and the accommodation was beautifully thought out. Particularly liked the loo seat and the lovely White Company throw!

The 2 best places for fish — The Cricketers in Clavering, Essex and The Blacksmiths in Chichester. Blacksmiths take first place. Great Pub, quality food and the nicest of staff. 5 stars.

Super tasty slow cooked shin of beef. Well worth the few extra ££ over standard pub food. Highly recommended. Friendly professional staff. Dessert menu looked lovely.

Lovely pub with nice food. Major selling point in the huge garden area with lots of room to sit eat and drink. You families welcome and they even have chickens to the a look at. A very nice experience and would thoroughly recommend a trip on a nice sunny day!

Discovered this great pub by accident. Good beer and lovely fresh fish, and a beautiful canal walk nearby, but beware the road, it is busy and hazardous for pedestrians.

Stayed here on an overnight for our anniversary & cannot rate it highly enough! In fact, we have treated my sister to a nights stay for their first anniversary as well. The location is fantastic, giving a feel of a remote countryside inn, yet only a 10min drive from Chichester town centre & the beach. As well as a beautiful room to stay in the food and atmosphere in the evening was faultless, the dining room is a perfect size that it creates an intimate feel.

Very disappointed. Had the roast today. The beef was over cooked and swimming in watery gravy. Burnt pots and raw veg. Ive eaten in alot of places and had heard good reports about the place… such a shame… just a tip. Not everyone likes gravy so serve it separately… lovely waitress who could tell it want a great lunch. Bless her.

Good food, really well cared for by the staff. Nice outdoor setting with drinks before the meal. Was a leaving do for a member of staff who had been with us for 30 years. She really enjoyed herself. Recommended venue.

First time visited since all modernised. A pub restaurant I have known and used for over 45yrs and still as cosy and welcoming as ever with great food.

Quite a nice pub, recently upgraded… plenty of seating. Had the all in reasonably priced lunch time menu which wasn't very exciting, although the food was good. Service was a little slow, but pub was packed with "Seniors", so it must have something going for it.

Very kind welcome, even to the dog, on a cold stormy day. All 8 of us smilingly served up a delicious lunch (gorgeous vegetarian haggis) and not hurried along, even tho we were late to leave. Worth going out of your way for.

Food, excellent, good menu regularly updated. Nothing is to much trouble. Good caring pstaff, good atmosphere. The open log fire helps… Outside area in summer a bonus. Good value. One off my favourite locals. You get what you pay for. Always take visitors and friends there, never disappointed.

Wonderful one night stay here just before New Year. We had the stunning Lapwing room with great views over fields and a bathroom to die for! Super comfy bed — great accommodation. Dinner was great — tasty sea bass and crab Thermidor — everything was superb quality. Breakfast was great too — eggs Benedict recommended! Staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much bother. This really is a great little bolt hole if you need somewhere super relaxing with great food for a night or two when spending time West Wittering way. Will definitely be going back!

Dont want to advertise this place or it will get too busy. Atmosphere (lovely log fire) is just what anyone who enjoys comfort and style, and little to say about the food, 4 people, 4 different meals and everyone delighted, and ready to call in again — me, I'm booked in again next Friday. Staff attentive and helpful, very well run. Best wishes for 2018

This is the second time we stay at the Blacksmiths. Rooms are very comfortable, well equipped and super clean. The staff is excellent and very welcoming. The landing between the rooms offer thee, coffee, biscuits and fresh milk. Very quiet rooms despite being above a gastro pub.

Main meal. Gnocchi. £14.95. With 3 x gnocchi pieces! Not even the size of a starter. What happened to giving customers a hearty meal? Value for money.? Even doubling the size of the dish would have been small.

Great cosy pub with fantastic Christmas dinner, one guest was vegan and they made a great meal for him. Would like to try there normal menu after Christmas.

Got there at about 7.30pm on a Tuesday and wasn't busy. Very friendly service. Very impressed with the food and staff. Would definitely go again given the chance.

Really nice and friendly place excellent food. Took mum there for her birthday lunch and we really enjoyed it. Been once before a few years ago and enjoyed it then too.

We've been a couple of times now to this venue and on this occasion we only had drinks, lovely friendly staff, a well pulled pint. Sadly there is evidence of damp with discoloration patch's on walls and dark stains on ceilings, a sign of leaking plumbing, so all slightly off putting whilst in the comfortable surroundings, hence the 4 stars.

We were late for our booking but that wasn't a problem, even though it was Saturday evening. Food was top standard although I was a bit concerned with the pickalilli relish but I became a convert as it set off the pulled brisket really well. Good value too.

Lovely pub, food was very tasty but felt a bit disappointed with the amount. I had chicken wrapped in bacon and was hungry after. My husband had the 9oz burger which was plenty. Surroundings were idyllic.

Nice country pub, chickens out back. Room for children to play. Good food.

This is a great place to meet for food and drinks — the amount of seating inside is really ample and the decor is a great mix of the contemporary and traditional. The food is really good and wholesome, their triple cooked chips are great! There's plenty of outdoor seating too, including a large section that is covered. We had great attentive service as well from the staff.

The staff were friendly and polite; the service was quick at the bar and we didn't have to wait to long for our meals. The atmosphere and decor of the pub is nice and I can see myself coming back here in the summer with my dog and sitting in the garden with something cool and refreshing. This place is well worth a visit!
