9 of us had an evening meal last night, and I am usually not one to do reviews but I just had to say how fantastic everything was last night. We had 2 lovely, waiters, who were very attentive and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious, and the generous portion sizes of both the main and dessert were amazing. I particularly liked that the pies had a pastry bottom, I hate it when you are served a dish of meat with just a piece of pastry placed on top. You exceeded all expectations — well done and thank you for a lovely evening.

Absolutely fabulous meal here for my 30th birthday a few weeks ago. Food was hot and fresh, portions were massive and good value for money! Will definitely be back ❤️

Family that don’t know the little crown all commented on the high standard of the buffet and prefect venue for all ages to enjoy. I could not recommend the Little Crown highly enough — a real gem in the community.

First time visiting yesterday for Sunday lunch booked in for 5 of us, swift service and meals were really good and loads of food! I had the lamb shank and it was very nice! Good value and great food will definitely be back! everyone in our group commented on how nice the food was! 👌👌

We had takeaway Sunday lunch from here today for 7 of us and I have to say it was all cooked beautiful, there was plenty of veg and a good portion of meat and lashes of gravy we were very happy and would highly recommend 5

Had a takeaway dinner today it was amazing. And homemade cheese cake was to die for. 10out of 10

Great food but purchase bottles of beer for our meal and they was out of date by a few months. Not something that should happen in a pub/restaurant.

Never had a bad meal. Garlic mushrooms are the best about.

I used to drink here 40 yrs ago and I've seen the changes over the years, and it has got a lot better since Alison and staff have been running it. No hesitation in recommending The Little Crown to anyone. This is our second visit ad I have family here. 8

My first but not my last visit definitely! Jade looked after us and made us feel so welcome. Compliments to the Chef for the delicious food too. Lovely venue, reasonably priced drinks this place is set in the perfect place for warm summer evenings in a lovely outside area — can’t wait. A great Sunday Roast has been recommended to have there also and maybe an overnight stay in one of the tasteful rooms.

Had a wonderful time with my family for a Christmas Eve meal yesterday, all the staff were friendly and gave us a chance to have a break before dessert! Lovely food, definitely coming back in 2020!

Myself and my friends had Sunday lunch yesterday. Food was superb. Staff were lovely, nice catching up with Allison. Atmosphere was good.

Had our first visit today as a Gift for Anniversary, Lovely welcome and friendly staff, Food was Excellent and very good value for money, cosy atmosphere, will definitely be back for a Sunday lunch.

Visited The Little Crown today for a family meal & wasn’t disappointed.
The waitresses and bartenders always had a smile on their face and couldn’t have done anymore for me and my family. They were amazing and all deserve recognition.
The food was lovely (we ordered from the Sunday lunch menu), the portion sizes are very generous and we left feeling extremely full and happy.
We will be back — I recommend this restaurant 100%!

Another fantastic meal at the Little Crown! Absolutely love this hidden gem, booking of 18 people for lunch today, fantastic service, and superb food. I'm sure the few guests that had never visited will be returning at some point in the near future! Keep up the good work.

The service tonight was awesome for a colleagues leaving do from all at unigreen scheme brilliant… next time the 42oz mixed grill.

Excellent… We booked the little crown last minute and have not been disappointed with anything. Staff really nice and never stop they are always on the go and very helpful. The food we had was out standing, hot and lots of it. So the second night my husband and I just had a starter and pudding, delicious… Our room was small but beautifully decorated and comfortable, I liked the furniture too.
If we had to change anything it would be too have mugs instead of cups In the bedroom for our coffee. Anyway we will go back again because we loved it.

This pub has good tasty food. I went here for Sunday lunch and had a traditional roast and dessert. The plate had plenty of food, which was fresh with meat and potatoes in the plate, abs then vegetables served in dishes so you could help yourself. I had the cheesecake for dessert and really enjoyed it. The food here is served quickly, but as it can be busy. I recommend always phoning up to book to ensure there is a table. There's parking to the back of the pub and the cycle path is nearly so it's a good place to stop if you are cycling past.

There is absolutely nothing bad about this place. Amazing food, great welcoming staff and beautiful comfortable rooms. Just divine.

Come to the little crown often with my fiancé for lunch. Food is always outstanding and very reasonably priced. Only downside is the wait but food is always cooked fresh so I suppose that’s a compromise.

Very nice place to eat and their steaks are amazing. Table service is friendly and we're always made to feel welcome. I've never had a bad experience here. It's my first choice whenever I wish to eat out.

Only place I know locally that has 'chop' on the menu. Certainly value for money. Very busy but a cool Madam at the helm. Of course equally fated must be the Chef who like a ships engineer is unseen.

Wednesday night is burger night and the rarebit burger is amazing! Huge portions and fantastic value with really lovely staff. I love the mine shaft décor on the way to the toilets too.

Very slow service. I had the miners pie which was dry and nowhere near as good as it once was. This used to be a really good place to eat but has gone downhill.

The Little Crown is not a pub. It is a very good restaurant with 5 excellent ensuite rooms. Yes you can drop in for a drink (and many do) but it serves food and the drink is secondary. Highly successful format with dedicated friendly staff.

Only been once for Sunday lunch but was the best ever. Interesting mining history and corridor to toilets made to look like a mine shaft. Not easy to find and very popular. Parking no problem.

Had our first meal up there last night and I got to say the service was fantastic and the food absolutely lush, I have to say the crown is a lovely charming little pub, the entrance to the toilet is fantastic, but when you have time please paint your doors going into the kitchen it does let it down,, im a nit picker, cant wait to go back.

Nice pub, good food, nice people, good menus and variety of drinks. Decor is themed around coal mining. Rooms available to stay.

The meal was barely warm, the little crown has a small car park and limited phone reception.

The food was decent. A group of 15 of us ate, didn't hear any complaints from anyone. We were allocated a room to ourselves due to the size of our party. Enjoyable atmosphere, nice decor. 4 stars not 5 because a few thought the service a little slow, though I appreciated the gap between courses. A little more light would be welcome outside as the pavement back to the car is almost non existent, and as a group we ended up on the road. Well done with the food, nice friendly staff, good prices for Christmas Dinner would recommended.

Was very pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The room looked amazing, the bed was comfortable and the furnishing perfect. The staff were so kind and always ready to help. The food again can not be faulted, great portion size. Overall would love to come and stay again and would suggest to friends and family. Thank you x.

Popped in for lunch and found that the lunchtime menu was great, the portions was good and the place it's self was very clean an welcoming. It's a very child friendly environment and I enjoyed yet another good visit. Looking forward to calling in for food again.

Friendly and good atmosphere.

I booked here for a birthday gathering for my husband on Friday. There was only about 20 of us and we were given a small room just off from the bar. I was able to decorate the room and take in a birthday cake. I have to say what a wonderful evening we had. The buffet was outstanding! No limp sandwiches at this table. The food was delicious and plenty of it. We were asked if we had enough as they would have given us more if needed. We had a really enjoyable evening. We were made very welcome and nothing was any trouble. Most of the people there that evening were with me the following day at a wedding and everyone was raving about the food. Thank you so much. Highly recommend and will definitely will be back.

Beautifully refurbished room to a real high standard and quality. Good service and friendly staff. A proper restaurant with a proper menu (probably a proper Chief) good food at and value for money. Tucked away nicely with just a short walk down into town. Would certainly stay again and recommend.

Stayed here about a couple months ago and I was away on business. The staff was brilliant friendly and very welcoming. The food was great too aswel as the atmosphere. The rooms are roomy and clean and tidy. I would recommend to anyone.

Took my mum here for her 70th birthday lunch. Food was amazing, portions were plentiful. Staff were lovely. Really enjoyed our meals with a lovely relaxed atmosphere will definitely be returning with the rest of the family.

Stayed in the Kingsize room (named The Big Pit), for 3 midweek nights and found the place a delight.
The room had been recently renovated so was in pristine condition and there was ample room for the Kingsize bed which was comfy (our personal choice would have been for softer pillows but the bed was lovely).
Although there was a stool type seat, I would personally have liked to have seen a chair in the room.
The morning breakfast was enough to fill us up until teatime, which we ate in the dining room (Monday — Pie and mash, Tuesday — Curry, chips and rice, Wednesday — Burger night).
The evening meals were also very filling.
The staff were all extremely friendly and helped us in every way they could.
Highly recommended. I Would defineatly go there again.

This is a very friendly local pub. The food is great. I especially enjoy the Sunday roast.

The experience we had was disappointing but that was more likely due to our expectations, and personal preferences. The sunday roast was very well cooked as were the vegetables. Our preference is for rare meat and al dente vegetables. The other guests seemed to really enjoy it so hopefully other people will too!
