What a delightful pub. It’s characteristic are in keeping with what a pub should be. Lovely staff and atmosphere.

What can I say except the staff are amazing, the food is outstanding and the customer service impeccable, they accommodated us at last minute and also gave me a hot water bottle after noticing my dismay at the chill in the air along with the most fluffiest of blankets brought sanitised and Uber fresh! Thank you for a wonderful time experience 🤩

Lovely food, friendly staff, felt safe and welcome. Blankets provided for my little boy and water and bowl for the dog. Very good all round x.

Been to the kings on numerous times but only ever had breakfast. Amazing breakfast with all local produce. And excellent choice available. Stunning cappuccino that one is never enough!

It only takes one member of staff to be rude to stop you ever visiting again, shame you managed to let down all your other staff.!

Stayed there on Sunday and Monday night had an excellent welcome, the room was great, food good and the staff were excellent. Highly recommend it.

The rain left off just in time for a lively Sunday lunch. Friendly staff in what felt like a safe and clean environment. Only popped in while passing, glad I did.

We had a takeaway Sunday dinner on Mother’s Day and it was absolutely terrible, The size portions was bad but most of all we wasn’t given any gravy and no cream or custard with our deserts!

What a wonderful hotel, stayed for 2 nights for our friend's birthday and couldn't fault a thing, it was all perfect, amazing food, fabulous staff, who couldn't do enough to make your stay enjoyable. Thank you to Sasha Maria John and all who work so hard there, we'll be back!

Enjoyed a lovely roast here today, recommended by a guy that works in the local petrol station. (Thanks a lot) lovely friendly staff, lovely oldie modern feel to the place and the food looked and tasted great. Will definitely call in again if in the area.

My daughter and I enjoyed our stay here, very friendly staff, beautiful rooms, freshly cooked English breakfast. Sacha the owner was lovely and very helpful with directions to castle, train station etc. Even gave us an umbrella to take with us to make sure we didn’t get wet.

They were very accommodating when I told them I was vegan. The chef even made a delicious dessert for me. It's so good to know there is somewhere in Abergavenny that serves delicious vegan food — and even puddings! I have alerted Abergavenny Vegans on FB.

Really good value for ale and wine. Impressive selection of both. Friendly and efficient staff. Cosy inside. Plenty of outdoor seating adjacent to pedestrianised area. Draws a pleasing mix of people.

Visiting here from Canada, went to the kings arms with friends yesterday evening and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Staff were awesome and food was amazing. I loved the decor and the almosphere. Highly recommend. Thank you :)

Very disappointed! We have been going regularly for the past 2 years but since Chef Jim has gone the quality of food / menu is sub-standard I'm sad to say! Also the red wine was sour… Staff very helpful. Love the place but bring Chef Jim back! and get the menu back to its former glory.

Place as such is quite nice and sitting outside is a pleasure in summertime. The food is quite okay at reasonable prices. Compared to other pubs the variety of different ales and other drinks is rather limited. For us the place is a little difficult to recommend as kitchen closes quite early and unexpected, not taking any orders while they still serve food to others.

Just back from a 2 night break at this Hotel, great food, rooms, live music but most of all the staff are what makes it, they couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. Special mention to Sarah and David who made sure my little dog Alfie was kept in water and treats. Such a lovely old building which has maintained its character, rooms have everything you need and anything else you just need to ask, nothing was too much trouble. Well done to all the team and the Chef — food was great both breakfast and dinner. We will definitely be back. Thank you to all at the Kings Arms Hotel for making our stay extra special.

What can we say, we chose the king's arms for our reception following our renewal of vows last Saturday, the service, food, atmosphere and rooms were exceptional. Our thanks to all the team especially Charlotte. They looked after us from the beginning to the end with great attention to detail. The rooms are gorgeous! Top quality and exceptional value for money too! Thank you soo very much we enjoyed every second! Xx.

We've visited a few times and always enjoyed the food. It was a positive start, waiter was very attentive, took drink orders and informed us of the special. The salmon starter was very nice, but the menu has become style over substance. Whitebait served in a mug with dots of sauce across a slate. My chips served in the same mugs for the main, and the dot theme continued with the ketchup across my wooden board. I had a burger on a foccacia bun. Would have been nice except the burger was very dry so the bread was also dry. I could also have done without a flower salad in the burger; they wilted in the heat so it was just a limp and stringy texture. A burger needs leaves that can handle the heat. My partner had pate which was inedible, but they kindly changed it for the salmon (it was really good). He had fish and chips for his main, but they poured a pickle/caper mixture over the fish so all the batter was soggy. Not very nice at all. The icing on the cake was that this was a meal for one of the party's birthday, but when my partner was about to pay at the table, the waitress read out the amount to pay which upset him. If you're not sure how much to put in the machine, ask if the bill is being split, or if you're only handed one card maybe take the hint. To her credit I did mention this to the waitress after everyone else had left and she did apologise. Will probably give it a miss for a while.

Went for a charity event. The event room at the back was very spacious with good lighting and reasonable seating areas. A good night.

Great place with lots of character and old world charm. The staff is super friendly and happy to accommodate any requests. Easily the best hotel in the area.

Visited for a wedding evening. Was in their function area had was a lovely decorated area. We had a buffet provided which didn't have the biggest selection of options but all good provided was delicious. The bar at the front was very busy and seemed a popular option for Abergavenny on a Saturday evening. They also had live entertainment in the bar area.

Lovely old pub sympathetically renovated a few years ago. Excellent, friendly staff and good beer. Pot of olives great value at £2. Definitely recommended for a lunchtime drink.

The management & staff at the King's Arms are second to none. The food is absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. The pub has a lovely, warm, friendly atmosphere. I would highly recommend visiting The King's Arms if you are ever in Abergavenny, a warm welcome always awaits you x.

Would give more than 5 stars if I could! The hospitality we receive is above and beyond and the food is always perfect! Highly recommend the King's Arms to everyone!

Visited in February as an unplanned meal stop, never been disappointed in the past, not disappointed this time either. Welcomed and slotted into the evening by the very pleasant staff, and served another great meal, again. Would suggest booking a table at peak times or have a backup plan. Excellent place with admirable consistency.

The food was amazing and service lovely. The "Local pheasant & smoked chicken trofiette" could easily be the best pub food I have ever eaten.

Popped in for lunch and had the most amazing meal, I had the cod with octopus and hubby had fish and chips. Both meals were fresh, beautifully presented and just to die for. Had fresh and what appeared to be homemade bread with it, which really impressed. Thank you for a fabulous meal which made our visit memorable.

Not as good as I expected. The building is beautiful but the food quality was less than I expected, especially as the prices were fairly high, although no more than similar places charge.

Beautiful hotel in a lovely location. I absolutely loved my quirky room and it was very comfortable. I'm a vegan and the chef vegan-ised a vegetarian meal for me in the restaurant in the evening and I had a delicious vegan breakfast the next morning. My friend is gluten free and they also provided a great breakfast for her. Nothing was too much trouble. We stayed here overnight as we were attending a one-day training course in the area but I would love to return to this hotel for a longer stay sometime.

Loverly pub but paid 35 pounds for three courses and it was very average food but not bad and there was a large party of us so take that into consideration.

My favourite local pub and restaurant. I had one of the best Christmas lunches I have ever had at the ALBA Christmas lunch. Thank you to all the lovely staff for always being so warm and friendly.

Fantastic Christmas work's do for the 2nd year running. I have been to many Christmas work's dos and I must say in this place the quality of the food and atmosphere is superb. I would like to thank Sacha and her fantastic team for being so attentive and making us feel so welcome. I would highly recommend this place for the quality of food, service and gorgeous rooms. Good spot, located in the centre of the town. Stopped for a few drinks on a Saturday afternoon, staff were pleasant and drinks reasonably priced with a good selection.

After a very long 6 hour trip from Yorkshire we finally arrived at the Kings Arms Hotel, from the minute we got their until we left 2 days later the staff could not have been more polite, helpful and welcoming. We were asked if we would like help with our luggage (which we declined) then shown to our rooms whilst being shown of where low ceilings were and slants in the floor (it's an incredibly old place with a lot of character and charm). At one point we asked for some extra towels (as there were afew of us) and the staff were happy to oblige and asked if we needed anything else (more bottled water, tea, coffee).
Every member of staff I spoke to were great and accommodating, and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know some of them.
The location is in a great spot over looking some beautiful countryside to the side whilst being on the corner of the main town centre, so is close walking distance to everything you could want or need. To the outside front they have a large benched area nice for a sunny day.
The back extends to a large venue area, the night we got there there was a local band playing and had a good time there.
Breakfast was nice even offering a selection of how you'd prefer your eggs, along with various cereals and juices, yogurts etc.
Bed was comfy, plenty of storage and spacious room. Their was also a bible, hairdryer and earplugs supplied in the room but we had need for none.

In the middle of an old town, a stone's throw from a castle, nestled at the foot of the Beacons, this hotel is perfectly placed. The rooms are quirky and comfortable, reflecting the 600 years the pub has been here. Breakfast is great and the staff could not be better.

Old pub/hotel with plenty of character; some of the floors upstairs slope. The rooms are comfy and clean. There's a public car park just across the road which also makes parking very easy when staying here.

We had a lovely Sunday dinner in the backroom on a large table. Theres plenty of space and its lovely and light. But there was the occasional smell of faint cigarette smoke. I would happily go again.

Nice pub with a function room/restaurant at the back. Usually has live music, of varying quality, on Friday nights. A couple of real ales but nothing out of the ordinary.

Excellent Sunday roast, with great gravy and decent portion size. Service was polite but could have been a little quicker. Dining room was light and airy but still with plenty of atmosphere.

Stayed in the hotel on a Friday night and had a meal in the restaurant. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced. The staff were attentive and welcoming and knowledgeable. The room was lovely and bed was comfortable, shower and bath were spotless! Perfect stay — wish we could have stayed for a week.

Don't be confused by the pub type name or cheap prices, the King's Arms hotel restaurant is an excellent restaurant, elegantly decorated, imaginative menu and great tasting food.

Great pub in great location. Always a good atmosphere.
