Great, relaxed place. Friendly staff. Thoroughly recommend.

Worse place I have ever stayed. On arriving my husband had to use the toilet which was filthy, they must have a Brilliant photographer cause the place is run down out dated and just horrible. Our room had cracked paint everywhere badly stained wallpaper curtains that had been up since WW1 by the looks of it. The room was so depressing. We were booked in for 2 night and left after the first night. Breakfast was shocking, they offer a full English they had run out of potato scones the poached egg was like rubber with hard yolk and the tomatoes you couldn't even cut with a knife. No Wi-Fi whats so ever. The only thing this place has going for it is the scenery. Considering the cost I was expecting something a bit nicer, not a place I would visit again. So disappointed. Rude and unhelpful staff.

Absolutely stunning setting and the loveliest most helpful staff. We all had a very comfortable stay. Loved it.

We recently stayed at this Hotel, The restaurant team were abrupt, and incompetent.
The general manager feels it's ok for the food to be awful, and a breakfast ordered the night before to take an hour.
3 parties of guests complained that day, but the hotel feel it's acceptable.
Avoid this Place.

Thoroughly disappointed. Our booking was cancelled and we were only informed of this when we arrived at the door after a 5 hour drive. Poor customer service.

Food is outstanding and freshly made. We enjoyed a 3 course dinner, and breakfast. We will visit again, and look forward to dining here.

This was actually the place I decided to get married at and I can honestly say I still regularly visit as it’s such a beautiful place… Been there today with my granddaughter for a walk along the lovely waterside walk and have promised to take her for a meal once they are allowed to open x.

Friendly staff who were very attentive. Ideal location if you want peace and quiet.
now I know its dog friendly we may bring our hairy hound next time.
walks are very refreshing and relaxing. Grounds are stunning in autumn with the changing of colours. recommended for couples, families, and weddings would be spectacular.

Stunning place we stayed in Dun Mohr cottage 2 couples and 4 dogs plenty of space and an enclosed rear garden. The only issue was we only stayed one night, could of been lo get but we may return. The hotel is welcoming to dogs and the breakfast was scrumptious. We took a walk in the extensive grounds it was the perfect place.

Food and service were amazing. The view from the Elder suite was stunning. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend staying here and will be happy to go back again.

Fantastic 3 day stay staff amazing as was the manager couldn't do enough for their guests. Picnic basket is very good so much in it we finished it off after our day out back in the hotel grounds. Extremely relaxing will definitely book to come back.

Had a fabulous picnic lunch this afternoon from the hotel. Beautiful grounds, lovely weather and a fantastic hamper of food. Would highly recommend.

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in! Excellent front desk service, friendly and warm atmosphere with stunning rooms. Didn't try the bar or food as we ventured out to a concert but certainly recommended.

My sons wedding was held in this romantic Scottish Castle frequented by Robbie Burns. I loved it’s faded elegance and facade. The glen is magical and the fly fishing on the river.

No! Booked the most expensive room to be refused on arrival as we had our little dog with us, yet declared at the time of booking! Very disappointed with the terrible spring bed for the back, excruciating night! The rooms are dated and have an old dirty carpet, a bathroom really not terrible (no water pressure, low-end faucet …) and the Wi-Fi reception yet promised never managed to succeed, which caused us problems also because we have to contact our bank! Our daughter had a room a little more aesthetic but still as old and low-end services… When you see the exterior beauty of the place, what a pity that the standing is so bad! We will not be coming back and are very disappointed as we have been coming to Scotland with pleasure for over 20 years!

We had our wedding here on the 5th May 2018. Our day was fantastic! The build up was amazing great contact with the staff, regularly checking in with us to make sure we had everything we needed. Everyone told me beforehand that my day would run late as all weddings do but nope. Everything was not only on time but early (well apart from me but as the bride thats allowed). The food was amazing, we picked the choice menu and got to tailor everything to our own needs. We didn't have a single complaint. The grounds were stunning, perfect for our pictures. The rooms were perfect, we also hired out both of the cottages which were more than what we expected.
Honestly I cannot recommend this hotel enough. We have already booked to go back for our first anniversary, with the whole wedding party! Please be in no doubt this is a fantastic venue! Thank you so much Friars Carse xx.

The road to the hotel is in good condition & hotel certainly looks nice with no modern extensions added to ruin it. There is a river right in front of the hotel popular for fishing & the hotel itself sells a license so you can fish if you so wish. The grounds are immaculate & all hotel staff friendly & polite. The rooms are a good size (well deluxe room I was in was). The bar area isn't great and the ambience of the hotel needs looking at (especially the music) BUT this is my personal opinion. I cannot fault anything about the hotel or it's amazing staff.

Absolutely amazing stunning setting, staff were really lovely. We got a base rate room which was comfortable but requires updating. Food was lovely but my steak was over done. More medium well done than medium rare. Was lovely nonetheless. Would definitely come back!

Amazing estate. Fabulous original features in grand country home set in hugely impressive rolling acres of mature parkland. You really feel like country gentry, Lord or Lady of the Manor! Staff super friendly but unobtrusive so all needs met without feeling watched! Excellent breakfast, full continental plus cooked selection — I had smoked haddock with poached egg, both cooked to perfection. Fabulous walk along the river bank with stunning views over frosty fields. Couldn't recommend more highly, one of my best and most memorable hotel stays at an amazingly low price.

What a wonderful place, very historic and peaceful. Lovely grounds and fishing if you fancy a go! Very reasonable prices, we stayed in a cottage that was warm and welcoming. Great break.

Friars Carse is a lovely, old building with many original features and modern touches. The rooms are all different, each one with its own character, but all very comfortable. Food is served in the lounge area or the restaurant and there is good choice over both menus. The hotel is dog friendly and the extensive grounds are great for exploring with fishing permits also available.

This beautiful hotel really is your ideal country venue for a drink, a meal, a stay, a private function or pretty much anything else you can think of. The location is simply stunning, the facilities are excellent, staff are extremely helpful and polite and the food is nothing short of spectacular. Highly recommend Friars Carse for both a cosy meal or a memorable stay.

My husband and I stayed here for our wedding on 24.11.17. The day was just perfect and we would like thank Kelly, Christine, Nick and Xav for their patience and huge help over the time we were planning the wedding (just under 11 months). We couldn't have asked for more. On the night of the wedding we met Rebecca, who oversees the marquee. She was a gem throughout the night. The whole team of staff are brilliant and fantastic at their jobs. Having only stayed at the hotel twice prior to the wedding we would not hesitate to stay their again and if we were able to, we would re live our day again. A massive thank you to everyone!

This is not only a beautiful hotel in a stunning location, it has very friendly staff that can not do enough for you from the moment you check in. Both the breakfast and dinner were perfect, as well as relaxing in front of the fire in the lounge with a drink in the evening.

Myself and 3 friends visited for there open wedding evening as my friend is getting married next year. We had fabulous service by Kelly who helped us tremendously! Beautiful marquee to hold events in can be completely transformed into what you want. Very Scottish themed hotel, warm amd welcoming was very happy with all aspects of thr place. There was a nice quiet, calm atmosphere.

We came here on our wedding anniversary. The location was beautiful, in the middle of a lovely wood near the river. The room was excellent, four poster bed with ensuite clean and well stocked. View from the windows was of the beautiful scotish country side. Food was excellent.

Beautiful Friars Carse hosted our Wedding from May 17th to 19th 2015. We'd been last year for our Handfasting, so we knew what to expect? No! the Hotel Staff excelled themselves to make sure we and our guests had a Magical stay. The Bridal Suite is Superb! The Highest praise for Christine Guthrie (Wedding Co-ordinator) Xav and Alex Front of House and Peter the Head Chef who we allowed to create both of our Hot and Cold Wedding Buffets. What Amazing food he and his team presented us with! Top Tip. Don't stress about the Menu choices? Leave it All up to Peter for a Happy Suprise! Nigel and Terry.

Attended a wedding 14/2/2015 hotel was first class rooms were spotless staff was very helpfull nothing to much trouble the views were fab love love loved it.

Very friendly helpful staff. Views breathtaking lovely walks. Defiantly a romantic retreat. Breakfast was lovely and fresh anything you want from fry up, fruit, cereals, quassants ect. Stayed foe two nights beds really comfortable and clean. Had bath n showers water read hot. Tea making facilities good topped up daily. Stayed in restaurant last night food was delicious and they change meals to suit very helpful. Enjoyed drunks in sitting areas in and out. Well worth money will go again and highly recommend.

Food was absolutely awfull. Chicken was dry, beef was over cooked, sticky toffee pudding was super dry, like the chicken, was dry. More attention paid to presentation than anything else. I'm sure the rooms had been cleaned at some point that week, but not before we got in. For a quaint little get away it was ok. The views and the location make up for what I can only describe as a poorly run hotel. A great example of management who clearly are to set in their ways or possibly just don't care. The buffet breakfast was ok, not refreshed regularly enough though. If scenery is more important to you than the quality of the food, and if value for money is not an issue this is the place to go. I found the fat man who worked behind the counter particularly annoying with his fake smile.
