Enjoyed a warm welcome and good food at the County Hotel.

Lovely meal but even better service from Danny who served us all night. He was a breath of fresh air and went out his way to make sure we all had a fab evening. He is just perfect at his job. Thanks so much.

Had a spot of lunch here, very slow service, and the waitresses looked indifferent, waited for food for almost 30 minutes yet the place was dead, the food was not great, had soup to start which was tasteless followed by steak pie which lacked seasoning and the meat was very tough, one of the worst steak pies I've ever had. After having such a poor starter and main course, thought the dessert would be slightly better but however I was once again wrong as this turned out to be even worse, no presentation just looked like it had been dumped on the plate with no care whatsoever, will not be returning here again, wish I had tried the fleece down the road, looked much better, will know next time!

Family run business with great atmosphere. Nice range of beers the room is fabulous. Safe parking that's easy to find. Beautiful town with lots of history. A must to cost and stay if you can. Wi-Fi is great.

I stayed here for the Common Ride. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The hotel was geared to people doing the ride and I was able to get breakfast at 5:15am. Along with others.
As a lone traveller, this was a great place to stay, with lots of vibrant atmosphere and even an evening singalong!

This hotel has changed hands recently very extensive an varied menu. The friends I was with had the steak pie which they said was excellent. Place had good atmosphere and staff very helpful. Based on that one visit I would recommend.

It was a nice hotel, which has seen better times. Rooms are clean and big. Staff is very nice and friendly.

Lovely hotel, helpful friendly staff. I've not used the bar or restaurant but the food did smell lovely, I booked a single room & was upgraded to a double for free, the room is comfy enough with all u need, anything else you only have to ask.

The String Jam live music events are held in the large upstairs room at the county hotel and normally monthly on a Saturday. It was a brilliant show this weekend with one touring Australian artist supporting another locally based aussie who both played largely original songs from their catalogue to the very attentive audience. People come here to really listen and are rewarded by the superb sound quality in quite an intimate hall setting. It is a great combination of highest professional standards while remaining relaxed and informal. Access and parking are quite limited, so not easy for everyone. Food and drinks are reasonable but prices are quite high. Although the 'County' offers a 15% discount on food with a ticket for concert events.

Met here as a mid way point for a quick meeting. Comfortable, good service and good coffee too. Will use again.

Nice, clean. Only had tea and scones. Only down side was 7 (seven) teabags in the pit of tea for two. One per cup and one for the pot? Great if you like strong tea. But I would go again, the homemade scones were well worth it.

Small friendly hotel in quaint Border town of Selkirk. Great value on their Winter Deal. Now been three times.

Went to the String Jam Club event to see Preston Reed. It's an intimate venue but the sound was great as was the atmosphere. The bar was a little slow but that's really one of the only negatives.

Food review= much better food and portions than the fleece down the road! Haven't stayed so can't review rooms but just eat here instead of getting fleeced at the fleece!

Old building — reminded me of a castle inside. Room we had was spacious, with view of the High Street. Thought it was a bit overpriced, as breakfast not included in booking price. Bed was okay, but TV had limited channels — Freeview only.

Had a drink at the bar place was lovely and bar staff where brilliant.

I have attended meetings here and always think it has a lovely atmosphere.

The hotel itself isn't flash but the staff and excellent food being it to a whole new level. We had the exec king room and to have a walk in shower was wonderful. However the chaise longue on the room needs replacing — sit on it and it sinks to the floor. Looks lovely though! All in all, very very​ good value hotel.

Stayed overnight on a business trip. Friendly owners and staff. Clean modernised room and good food. Unpretentious inn in the centre of Selkirk. Just what I wanted.

I had a long weekend in Selkirk visiting my son and partner, me and my wife and sister decided to stay at the County, my sister had stayed there the year before, and highly recommended the County Hotel to us, the room was comfortable and warm, the food was excellent, a good choice at breakfast, I tried eggs Benidict and eggs Royal, where the ladies had the full County, and we didn't need to eat lunch, the service was excellent and the hotel, the hotel was furnished to a high standard as was the cleanliness, a great stay me and my wife would highly recommend.

The County Hotel really is the central place to meet in Selkirk, right in the heart of the town. Their food is great, the welcome always warm and friendly, and the rooms are excellent. Not only this, they really look after us at String Jam Club — so you're guaranteed a fabulous night of top-notch folk, roots, blues and Americana music once a month in the upstairs function room. Will & Trond always go the extra mile and we couldn't do it without them!

Great food in nice brasseri and in stylish bar. Also Italian restaurant with the best pizzas I've ever had. Better than in Naples.

A reasonable standard hotel with very helpful staff, and the food is actually quite good.

Went for lunch on a Sunday — roast was cold (congealed! ), fish dry and cold, veg undercooked, drinks watery, cold room and service so poor we told the people entering (as we were leaving) to go somewhere else.
