Popped in for a Sunday Lunch. They offer an excellent Carvery with a choice of 4 meats. Everything was fresh and home cooked and the Gravy was a particular talking point in how good it was. The service was also excellent and I felt it offered really good value for money. It was well worth the 54 mile round trip for our lunch and we will most definitely be back.

Stayed 1 night with my husband, was definitely not enough. Love the unique rooms, fairly lights and roll top Bath, just what we needed after our adventures climbing the cheviot. Friendly staff. Great choices for breakfast which was delicious
we had a really good time.

Possibly the best tapas I've ever had it has to be worth a trip up to try, we stayed here as well the rooms are brilliant we will definitely be back.

After a bad start and been left waiting for over 20 mins to be approached the food was beautiful but place grossly understaffed.

Gorgeous hotel, we had a king size room with the roll top bath and it was beautiful. Breakfast was included in the price and did not disappoint. Highly reccomend this hotel!

I have been staying here for work commitments. Rooms are highly decorated and warm, the food is great and the staffare friendly.

Bill the owner is a right character and the food is great when Diane is cooking Mexican on mondays was great. Rooms are querky and definitely worth staying in.

Good spot in the Main Street also there is parking which is a plus. Nice quaint hotel and the staff are really nice, rooms are fine, and breakfast was nice.

Stayed at the No1 on several occasions and service is exceptional and accommodation splendid. Food superb and friendly attentive staff, Bill & Sam make you more than welcome and try to cater for all your needs. Ross knows how to knock up a fab cocktail and Diane the chef sets you off to a great start to the day with her fabulous full breakfast not forgetting awesome tapas. This stay we tried traditional menu of sirloin steak one night then scampi next along with Cumberland sausages. Keep up the excellent work guys.

Fabulous hotel. The rooms are stunning, had a large roll top bath, in the room, along with a private bathroom, with shower. The food is 1st class, and staff so nice. Lovley breakfast.

Called in for Tapas; very pleased with the food. The chap who served us was very helpful and knowledgeable, would definitely go again. Interesting decor!

This is a very nice hotel in Wooler, well worth a visit, nicely decorated and well set out, a good selection of beers and wines. I visited this place around 5 years ago I think it was called the Red Lion then, it was good then, looks even better now.

This was our stop in Wooler whilst walking St Cuthbert's Way. Our room was rather small and cramped, with a single window which opened directly over some kind of vent from either the kitchen downstairs or the takeaway next door, which was noisy and blew air that smelt like chips. This probably wouldn't be a problem usually but it was the hottest day of the year so far. The decor was odd, with wood and fairy lights glued all over the hallway ceilings and lumps of wood stuck on the walls in our room. There were dead moths and dust around the window frame. The hallway to our room was in darkness, with a timer switch for the light around the corner from the stairs, so you had to feel around for it. However, the staff were all really friendly and helpful, even bringing our bags to the room when they were dropped off, and breakfast was good.

What a great hotel, from booking it 5 months ago, Bill the owner was great with my arrangements as I was booking for 15 cyclists, even when I had to cancel rooms late on, he was very supportive and extremely kind. When we reached the hotel the staff were great, the tapas food was delicious and the rooms were great, then we met Bill, what a geniune funny great guy, I'll be back, great and thank you!

Very great rooms, almost everyone has a little extra. Food very good and cheap. But nothing for Tier/canine allergy sufferers, there is a large domestic dog, but it is very nice and friendly.

Would give more than 5 stars, hotel is lovely 300 years old very quirky, room is stunning with everything supplied, management and staff are all lovely nothings a problem, food excellent will definitely be back soon.

For an establishment that claims to be “Dog Friendly”, tonight we found that not to be the case… “Dog Tolerant” wouldn’t even cut it. After asking at the bar if dogs were allowed in, and being told that they were, we entered… Only to be told by a delightful young lady that we were in fact not welcome because one of our dogs is disabled and requires motability assistance. This was after we had brought in his wheelchair and found an area that it could have been put. Had the woman in question had a better attitude, we could have folded the wheelchair so that it took up less room, however by this point we were made to feel very unwelcome so did not feel like staying. If anyone is looking for a genuinely dog friendly pub, we would recommend the Tankerville Arms.

Food superb. The best tapas I have ever tasted and I live in Spain! Staff friendly. Prices reasonable. Wonderful ambience.

Fantastic food and first class service would definitely recommend this place, staff are friendly and helpful, and Sam the Labrador is georgous he's head of security lol.

Nice, friendly bar staff and decently priced. My youngest loved Sam the dog too.

Should have had tapas. Sadly most of the afternoon tea was bought from the local coop! Save yourself some money & just buy it direct.

This hotel is amazing! The room we had was very spacious and comfortable. The beds were comfortable as well. So lovely we didn't even want to leave. The bathroom was of a high quality. We didn't have the tapas on the evening but we did have the breakfast, and it was so tasty and wonderful. It was even sourced from local butchers and farms. I cannot say one bad thing about this hotel. I will definitely be booking here again next time I'm up this way. Great value and amazing service for your money. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Stayed here before Xmas after a walk. Outstanding facilities. Best breakfast in a hotel for a long time. The owner is really friendly and a great bloke. Very kind and accommodating. Great to go somewhere and get a great service from outstanding people. Well done you are No 1! Thanks Sean.

Such a lovely hotel… spotless and quirky with really beautiful rooms. Large rolltop baths to wallow in, super comfy beds and so much character. The owner and staff simply can’t do enough for you and it has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere as soon as you walk through the door. I love this place… the reception area, bar and fabulous tapas restaurant are all so welcoming too. A gem on the main street of Wooler with plenty of pubs and a great Italian restaurant very close by. I’ve visited here with a dog and without one. Both visits were great and this time round the dog was made even more welcome than we were. I’ll be back.

Really tasty cocktails and good tapas. Was a bit understaffed and no initial direction to the restaurant area (head right when you enter, go to the bar and ask to be seated)

A quirky and enchanting hotel and we loved every minute of our weekend stay. Bill and his staff were lovely and could not do enough for us. Our room was beautiful with fairy lights surrounding our roll top bath in the bedroom which was so romantic. For breakfast you could have just about anything you wanted. In the evening we had tapas in the wine lounge which was a delight. The Pollo Rebozado con Miel was to die for. In summary, service, amenities and food were top notch and we would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone and we can't wait to stay there again.

Fantastic décor but something needs to be done about soundproofing — you can hear everything going on in the next-door bedroom! Wouldn't return because of this.

Lovely hotel with quirky rooms and superb breakfast. Our room had a free standing bath and a shower room too! The staff were friendly and helpful. We were allowed into our room early to change for a wedding. They gave us complimentary coffee too!

The hotel — tapas and bar-was brilliant — so friendly — the food is excellent and large portions — the bar has a large range of drinks /cocktails/wines and to my husbands delight "top of the shelf whiskies" All the staff were fabulous and friendly Our room No 1 was excellent — I love the drift wood theme and the bed was massive not to mention the huge roll top bath! Not forgetting "the cheeky" but hilarious owner Bill and his labrador Sam — we will be back SOON xx Excellent!

We only stopped in for one drink so we didn't get too much of a feel for it but the décor stood out to me. Really loved the trees and fairy lights!

Had an enjoyable stay here for 3nights, a week ago. Thanks Bill and Sam for making us so welcome. Breakfasts were exceptional. Thanks also to the young lady at the bar and who served us breakfast with a smile on the day we left. Will come again when we are in the area. Alf and Pat Tissera.

Stayed in room 5. Bed was extremely uncomfortable. Could feel the springs in the mattress. Ended up sleeping on top of the quilt. Decor was lovely but the room needed a good clean. Ate at Milan Italian restaurant, owned by No. 1, and food was excellent. All staff were lovely EXCEPT for a receptionist (a Southern lady) who was extremely rude.

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. And both times they couldn't have done enough for us. We went midweek which means it was pretty quiet but we were there for a few days relaxation so this wasn't a problem. The room was amazing — we were upgraded when we got there and the breakfast was great. We will be back next year!

Lovely Tapas restaurant. Cheap enough and great variety. Well looked after by the staff. Would go again.
