Lovely historic hotel with a warm, cosy friendly atmosphere & superb food. 5star service.

Had a lovely meal in bar area. Staff were lovely and attentive. My only criticism is that the room was very cold. They only had electric fire on, which didn’t heat the room. I was expecting open fire to be on as I’ve been before when open fire is on and it’s very cosy and inviting.

Stayed for 3 nights. Staff so welcoming and friendly. Special thanks to Colin and Lynda Due to having a broken ankle all made the effort. All the staff in general were friendly and very helpful unfortunately didn’t catch all their names. Food for the three nights and also breakfast. Amazing! Great chef! Enjoyed our stay hope to return. But thanks to wonderful staff made our stay so pleasurable.

Gorgeous just gorgeous afternoon tea was best I’ve ever had so elegant and gorgeous surroundings, attentive staff.

Was married here in 1968 and had the most wonderful experience, so good we returned 40 years later for our Ruby Wedding celebrations.
Everything was perfect from the food to the bedrooms to the help from the staff.
Sadly my husband died Jan. 2020.
I will never forget what a wise choice we made in the Ednam House Hotel. Thank you.

We had a lovely afternoon tea, which was a Christmas present. Lovely room, sat by an open fire. Would recommend, nice friendly service and lovely food.

Went for an afternoon tea as it was a lovely day we sat outside. The table we were at wasn’t wiped down, our napkins and cutlery were just dumped on a filthy table. Staff were friendly but didn’t have a clue what they were doing. Sandwiches were okay but for goodness sake don’t eat the Victoria Sponge, completely uncooked. Would not recommend eating your money here.

Staff couldn’t of cared less if we had been there or not. Not a pleasant experience. Very disappointing.

Went here for a friends reterment party for high tea and the staff were so friendly and nice an put on an amazing display for us.

House. Lunch and especially dinner in evening were excellent. Spacious room with very comfortable bed. Very friendly staff.

Having a wonderful Valentines break at this wonderful hotel. Food fabulous. Very comfortable classy rooms. Open fires and beautiful views across the Tweed. Love this place.

I love this place — friendly staff, open fires, amazing food and on the Tweed for fabulous views. If you haven’t been to Kelso and Ednam House Hotel you have missed out.

Had a lovely afternoon tea here this afternoon. Tasty sandwiches with beautiful homemade pastries, baking and scones. Lucky with the weather, we were able to sit out in the beautiful gardens to enjoy a drink afterwards. Would highly recommend.

We held our wedding ceremony & reception at Ednam House, the setting was beautiful, and staff couldn't have been any more helpful, efficient and friendly. The food was amazing, and great value for money! would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a wedding venue in the Borders.

Excellent two night stay. Great food. Friendly, non-stuffy, service. Lovely afternoon tea — luckily outside on the lawn. Some of the hotel is a bit worse for wear but the above more than make up for a little shabbiness around the edges.

Fabulous staff, in a stunning traditional building — the ceilings are amazing! — afternoon tea is divine, and the gardens and views sublime.

Myself and my partner Paul were married at Ednam House on Friday 31.08.18. What a wonderful day we had. The staff couldn't do enough for us. The food was fantastic, the accommodation was spot on and very clean. Even the weather was beautiful. All our guests commented on what a lovely place Ednam House is. A massive Thank You to all staff concerned and a special Thank You to Leonie, our wedding coordinator who did a fantastic job. We will definitely be returning.

Atmospheric hunting and shooting place though I suspect less of that now. Very friendly and attentive. Rooms at top of building rather basic but others are nicer. Breakfast great. Been several times. Although a little dated great place to stay.

Tired, need to be fit to climb all those creaky narrow old stairs. Used to be family owned, cared for. Now just an overpriced chain hotel. Has a three star rating. Over rated. Poor service.

First class venue and excellent meals. Staff exceptionally helpful. Highly recommend this hotel for lunch, dinner or W. E. Break. Ample parking at the hotel which is situated in the town of Kelso which is well worth a visit.

Love this hotel — magnificent views, great staff reald old world. Kelso has so much to see and do with it's quaint cobble streets. I stay here annually — food selection is great and the general atmosphere so welcoming. Extremely busy hotel for weddings etc. Which can make it a wee bit noisy — music will normally finish midnight sharp.

Attended a beautiful wedding last weekend and stayed two nights in beautiful river facing room. Having a 12 week. Old and a 6 year old I was a little concerned but the staff really couldn't do enough and really went above and beyond to help us and make us feel welcome. Room was lovely and spacious. Breakfast was amazing and catered for all tastes. We ate there on the Thursday night and the food was wonderful. The children's portions were incredible too. The wedding was absolutely beautiful and again the staff were wonderful with our little ones. Thank. You for a lovely break away for us… perfect little gem of a location hidden away.

This is the best hotel I have stayed at nice staff nice room nice breakfast. We had a view of the river tweed absolutely beautiful. Right in the middle of kelso with about 6 bars all within walking distance. I will be back again in near future.

The Ednam House Hotel is what you make of it. If you are looking for a tranquil location overlooking the river Tweed, then this may be the right place for you. There are beautiful overlooks from inside and outside the hotel. On the other hand, if you are looking for technology amenities such as a strong Wi-Fi signal and fast Internet connectivity then you may not be as impressed.

I got a single room here at the last minute because I was working in the area an extra day. The reception staff were really nice and helpfull. My room was a bit small and had a lovely view of a slate roof (Room 1) The wireless internet was very hit and miss and the TV didnt get BBC1. I found the restaurant a bit pretentious for my taste, and avoid the set menu of 'signature' dishes if you are hungry. The unexpected appitisers were nice, but the lobster main course was far too small. The baked alaska pudding had a very tough pastry case in it that spoiled it. Add to it a snooty attitude from a foreign waiter, and it wasn't an enjoyable dining experience. Breakfast was great though.

3 of us went for afternoon tea and it was lovely. A gorgeous setting with a great view overlooking the river. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

Daughter had her wedding there. Staff were excellent, helpful and very friendly. Recommend you to stay there.

A comfortable country house hotel within the town of Kelso. Good food available in a formal dining setting and bar meals as well as an excellent cooked breakfast.

We were in the Orangery Suite, a square, stone two storey building located in the hotel's garden grounds overlooking the river Tweed. A floor to ceiling picture window allowed us to watch frolicking otters, hunting herons, and foraging oyster catchers. Other windows overlooked the gardens.
The bathroom was modern, new and large.
We ate at the restaurant found the food to be very good. We chose wine picked from a list to try, only 125ml glass, 3 for £10.
The hotel's various lounges are country house 'shabby chic… just our taste. Well worth the money for a quite couple of days away.

Love this cosey hotel open hearth fires so homely the staff are so nice nothing is a problem slept sooo well here love to go back take a visit it wont disapoint.

The venue today for Loving Our Volunteers was held here, and what a magnificent place! Extremely beautiful setting for any event in my opinion. Friendly staff and superb service A+++

Decided to stay overnight rather than just calling in for coffee. Wasn't disappointed. Room was really clean and comfortable. (Would've preferred two pillows on single bed as standard rather than retrieving the spare one from the wardrobe though. ) Breakfast experience was outstanding. Food was well prepared and serving staff attentive and professional. A beautiful building overlooking beautiful river views (in between snow and rain showers! )

Location is nice and next to the river. There is free parking. Open fires are nice in seated areas. Some rooms need to be updated. The restaurant staff need some training and the kitchen seems to struggle with half empty restaurant. We waited an hour from seat to food being served. The bar could also be updated as it feels a bit bare and basic. Attached are pictures of room we had which show old and not very clean bathroom. My mother in law's room was very nice though.

Was expecting more from its entrance and fantastic situation on the banks of the River Tweed. Limited space on the bar for lunch, in fact it was difficult to find the bar and order food. Think that it is more set up for the wedding market. Kelso itself is a wonderful town, you must stop and explore.

Overall very good most of the staff were very attentive. Food good but limited choice Rooms very nice but showers very slow to give hot water and pressure poor. Coffee presented at breakfast and eventually late morning was awful.

Great pre Christmas holiday. Food was particularly good. Staff excellent. We will be back next December.

We stayed only two nights out of three booked. Our room lay over a private dining space with its own service area. The latter contained a thermostatic 'machine' sending a pulsating hum up into our room which prevented continual sleep. The whole room /bath area was very 'tired' in terms of décor and lack of fitments, needing complete refurbishment and re — organization. The absence of disability aids, especially lifts, on extremely steep stairs + many single steps made mobility extremely difficult for one of us with ME. Our treatment by the staff was excellent and, on the whole, the food was very good.

Shared a twin room for two nights on dinner, bed and breakfast rates. Stayed in a comfortable room with a free upgrade from attic to courtyard but the real highlight was definitely the food which was fantastic, especially the dinner served in the Riverside restaurant. Will definitely be back again thanks to the friendly staff and overall quality of the stay.

Room could have been cleaner; hoovered as there were crumbs & small stones on carpet. The tea pot had been used and not cleaned for some time as there was mould growing on the tea bags inside. Breakfast was ok but not good, or perhaps it just the full cooked that is slightly below average; edible though. The rooms have excellent views and the gardens are coming on; in the evening you can hear the Tweed flowing over the stones. Good location in Kelso with handy bars close by.

Ednam house had a really nice location upon the Tweed. We went for the Easter lunch and it was very impressive. The decor was cracking and the food was eggs-celent. Anyway, I would definitely recommend it.

Fantastic venue. The wedding party we attended was well staffed with excellent service and an amazing evening!

We have always enjoyed our times at The Ednam House Hotel but dinner last night, 13th April 2016, was very disappointing. The chips were inedible as they were soggy and over done and the batter on the fish became soggy almost immediately. Will try again but possibly will go elsewhere.

Great location right in the middle of the town. Rooms are good, deluxe principal room very nice! Service was fantastic with the staff helping as much as they could. We went with a 2 year old and a dog and they made sure that neither were lacking for attention especially the dog who had to sit in the hallway drying next to the fire! Would come again in a heartbeat.

Popped in for a bite of lunch. Great place to sit and watch the river. The staff where very attentive and very well informed about what was in the dishes especially for allergies. We both chose the Spiced Beetroot and Coconut soup. Excellent flavour and nice to be offered something different. See you again soon…
