Had a lovely night away at Balcary House with my husband for my birthday treat. Had a lovely time. The hotel is beautiful and has amazing private gardens surrounding it. The weather was lovely and sunny so we had the chance to sit in the garden, soak up some rays and sample a couple of drinks! Hotel staff are very polite, helpful and friendly. Our room was very spacious and clean and had a nice comfortable super king sized bed. Would definitely recommend.

So grateful to the wonderful owners of Balcary House Hotel. We were moving house and did not get the keys until after 4pm. Our packers had to return to Lanarkshire with all our belongings as the keys were so late. So at 4.30pm in the evening in the middle of Covid restrictions we had to call around to find somewhere to stay. The owners agreed to open for our family and 2 dogs as we had no where to stay.
Not only is the hotel absolutely beautiful, but the owners are absolute diamonds. The rooms are gorgeous. Superbly decorated and furnished with sumptuous beds and ensuite facilities. Food (prepared just for us) was delicious and we can’t recommend the hotel highly enough.

Tranquil setting and lovely service.

The Balcary is a beautiful hotel, decorated to a very beautiful and luxurious standard, its very central for exploring the area. The owners David and Sue give such a lovely warm welcome and make your stay even more special. Fantastic food and fantastic breakfast menu cooked by their chef Bob. I would definitely stay again.

Location is ideal to pop into town, Very nice rooms and excellent breakfast, staff are very pleasant and a credit to the buiness.

Had a amazing stay at Balcary House. The owners were so lovely and helpful, we arrived late and they were ever so good with service. It’s definitely thumbs up for my family. Will definitely go go back.

A truly, lovely place. Celebrated parents 70th wedding anniversary (Platinum) yesterday their. About 55 people having Afternoon High Tea with bubbles, wine, beer accordion music, poetry and singing! Everything was perfect. Thanks to Sue & David for taking such good care of our guests.

Fab family meal at Balcary House tonight. Cant reconmend it enough. The waitress was fantastic, she went out her way to accomodate us and the children. The food was very tasty, we left full and happy. We will definitely be back.

We were lucky to win a roast dinner at balcary today. We decided to add on a starter and a desert. The starters of chicken goujons and prawn cocktail were lovely. The main roast dinners were great portions and the HUGE yorskshire puddings were fab. I had the lamb, my husband had beef and our son had gammon. All meats were cooked beautifully. The deserts were also lovely, I shared my sons. The waitress was really friendly and it was an enjoyable meal out. Will definitely be back again in the future!

My partner contacted the hotel to enquire about using it for our wedding. Her request was quite clear with regards to what information she was looking for. The reply from the hotel was presumably sent by either a teenager in a strop or someone who had little desire for customer service. Needless to say, the short, blunt replies have sent us looking elsewhere. I would not want to deal with anyone who is incapable of compiling a polite email to a potential customer for fear of them being an absolute nightmare to deal with later down the line with such an important event. Good luck with your business Balcary. Your stinking attitude tells me you'll need it.

A really great Sunday lunch. The food, exceptional and staff couldn’t be better. Being their first venture in this prestigious period was understandably testing. I am booked for Sunday 12th August. Don’t delay, you will miss a wonderful experience.

Was there for soft launch for Sunday lunch, food was great but was over an hour late in getting our table and food. Waiting staff nice and apologetic but nothing from management which was a bit disappointing, They could have done more in my opinion.

Sorry ive never stayed or eat at ur hotel ive only visited the reception am sure if I did u would have a 5* as its a lovely place.

Had afternoon tea here a couple of days ago. The hotel is beautifully decorated. The lounge was already set for us and although we had a wait of 25-30 minutes before our food arrived it was obvious that everything was prepared after we arrived. We had a lovely selection of sandwiches and cakes and what we couldn't eat was packaged up for us to take home. When I phoned to book I was asked if there was any foods we didn't like and also asked what kind of bread we wanted on our sandwiches. We added a glass of prosecco and our bill was £20 a head. Would definitely recommend it and we will be back.

We held our wedding at the hotel last Saturday. This is a very beautiful hotel and location and was perfect for the small relaxed wedding we wanted. We had access to the hotel the day before to decorate and set the diningroom out which was a great help. We had a fabulous day and as did our guests, would recommend to anyone planning a wedding.

I literally had the feeling that I could not ask too much of the staff, all were fantastically attentive. We had nothing but welcome and hospitality on our visit to the Borders, Balcary House was at the top of our wonderful experiences. A Grand House of a time long gone, lovingly restored.

A beautifully presented hotel in the boarders. This is a preferred hotel on my company's hotel list. Normally that means you get a Travelodge or a Premier Inn, Balcary House Hotel is certainly not of that kin. Clean, spacious and staffed by friendly helpful staff. I would pay (myself) to stay here again.

We have just had a lovely two day break staying at the Balcary House Hotel. We arrived to be greeted by Mr & Mrs Watson who were very friendly and couldn't do enough to make our stay a delight. The hotel sits in lovely gardens and is close to the town centre and has been decorated beautifully and we found everything that we could have wanted. The food we had was of a good standard and served to us by pleasant and helpful staff. Thank you for a brilliant weekend and we will certainly be returning.
