A truly lovely experience. The ladies who work there were a delight and a credit to the hotel. The salt scrub and mud made our skin feel like silk. Whatever products you use are just beautiful. A free drink and a light meal was included in our deal but we should have stayed the night. We will definitely be back. Thank you all for making my birthday treat a beautiful memory.

Unfortunately I have to post this. I was expecting good things but even basic expectations were not reached. On a good note the spa is great and I suggest the hot tub option IF you go. The staff are friendly and helpful. The bathroom and bath in the room was clean and modern. Furniture throughout the building is new and clean (apart from the beds), and the decor is in-keeping with the grand feel. BUT! … *Do NOT stay over night or dine here, I promise you, I wish I'd taken all the feedback below seriously. * I woke up in pain in the night as I could feel the mattress springs digging into me. I had to take pain killers and change to the other end of the bed (top and tail). I considered sleeping on the floor at one point but didn't trust the cleanliness of the carpet. (Room 115). I'd hate to know how many years they've kept the mattress! Green grubby head marks worn on the headboard too, yuk! *Dinner was a disaster… Starter of mixed breads and oil: Three slices of white toast and a white bread roll, oil was cooking oil rather than olive oil and when I asked for butter it never came. 4 items of white bread is NOT 'mixed' bread. Main: Veg option of mushrooms stuffed with spicy lentils and salsa. It was actually little mushrooms with tomato-y lentils and COLD! Served with GREASY green beans. The side order of parmesan truffle fries were thankfully hot, but no hint of truffle at all and more like kebab shop chips!

Visited the spa last night with a friend for her birthday. What a beautiful location, we arrived early & enjoyed a stroll around the castle grounds. The Spa was amazing, loved the decor & the staff couldn't have been nicer, they made us feel so welcome. We enjoyed the sauna & steam room then we had booked in for the hot mud room. It was so much fun applying the mud & the steam was so relaxing then we finished off with a hour in the woodland hot tub with a glass of fizz. The moon was out & the fairy lights looked magical. Feel like a new woman today. Had to leave a review as we will definitely be back!

It needs a good clean. Food hygiene 0 what a joke. Had afternoon tea as a birthday treat. It was so bad. Cakes were hard, sandwiches were awful. The windows were so dirty. You couldn't see out of them. £40.00 what a joke. My advice is save your money. Go McDonald's at least it's clean. Absolutely disgusting! 0 hygiene rating I definitely see why. It should be closed down. 🤢🤮

I had such an amazing experience here. Beautiful place. Amazing for nearly 1000years old. The amazing history of it and the burial place of the 9day Queen! I would highly recommend and remember it is very old but they have done a good job of keeping it in date. the private hottub was pricey but as a treat we did it. food was amazing dinner and breakfast. Thank you team ruthin castle.

I really enjoyed my stay with my mum. We booked the Ruthin Relax spa break Staff was so friendly & welcoming Spa is small but nice and relaxing the smell was lovely staff kept keeping the spa area clean also the hot tubs was getting checked regular to check chlorine levels were safe, nice thick white Robes & towels to use. Food delicious. Bedroom was lovely, Nice and warm too. Was given a suite I was chuffed. Breakfast was lovely… BUT the breakfast staff seamed like they didn't want to be there & everything was a effort. Wi-Fi connection was great I would return as I really enjoyed the walk around the grounds and the Peacocks 🦚 roaming round. It was ace spending a night in a castle 🏰

Been for afternoon tea today was absolutely delicious and even took our dog with us. Staff were very professional and friendly. Lovely to be able to go somewhere pet friendly would highly recommend.

Very disappointed with the afternoon last Sunday. We were really looking forward to our tea. 1. We had the choice of having tea in the tavern which was very very dark or outside in the grubby tent. 2. No tablecloths, tatty tables and chairs. 3. Tea arrived in stained stainless steel tea pot, enormous tall coffee mugs for our cuppa tea and long latte spoons! 4. Cutlery arrived in a 'tin bucket' with enormous knife and forks! 5. Sandwiches were fine but cakes were tastless and full of sugar. Not what you advertise on your site! will not be coming again and family & friends told not to visit here.

What can I say best hotel stay to start our honeymoon. Friendly staff from start to finish. Booked up a spa and hot tub for me and the wife and was definitely worth it. The food was amazing! Quick table service barely had to wait between courses. The grounds where nice to walk around and plenty of car parking. Rooms where nice, spacious and clean. Couldn’t fault anything during our stay would defiantly recommend it. For the money we payed it was brilliant.

Had the most amazing wedding on 16/7/22. Weather perfect, location and building perfect, the full staff team were amazing, nothing was too much. Thank you to all at Ruthin Castle, you made our wedding day everything we hoped for and more x.

Stayed over night with my husband the hotel is in a very peaceful place near to the town centre there are lots of peacocks around. The spa facilities were great and the hot tub was very relaxing. The evening meal was really nice. The breakfast was very nice. Overall an excellent stay.

Went there for lst time only half hr drive away. Stunning. Lovely gardens. Sat outside big double tipi. In grounds had coffee. Will be returning.

Went for wedding on 30/03/2022 as bridemaid The hotle and spa has old style with modern twist it's relaxing there a space to relax in dotted around Castle lots seating areas and warm fires and lovely liberty bar for afternone tea. if you wana Spa day its checking there's at hot tub and gym also well worth it Food was lovely and tavern stye pub too on the grounds as part of the hotle. The grounds are nice lots history old part of the Castle and things to see. Let's not forget the peacocks there lovely birds and there was squirels and even ducks came to land there to rest on the lawns. drive doted with daffodils. few min walk in to Ruthin Town it's self spot shopping or eat out. but what makes the hotle great are the reception staff as soon as you come it there warm and welcoming and the rest of the hotle staff are so helpful and kind. so if your looking for wedding venue I couldn't fault them or the hotle well worth it of your afyerxa romantic wedding. or night away to get wine and dinned. so thank you everyone at Ruthin Castle hotle & Spa.

Went for a spa day that included the afternoon tea for my 30th. Spa was fantastic and could not fault the treatments we received. The afternoon tea was a completely different story. We turned up for the meal along with 3 other couples after being directed by the front desk. After waiting 30 mins we asked a member of maintenance staff if someone could see to us. We were seated in a shoddy room and given our “luxury” (as described on the website) Afternoon Tea. We were extremely disappointed with what we received as it look nothing like the images advertised on the website. I have emailed a complaint and requesting an explanation. To date I have still not received an acknowledgment of the complaint and they are still uploading false images of what is received (following the easter advertisement)

Room not ready on time. The spa area is very dated and the reception staff there did not have a clue. Couldn’t have the treatments we wanted as nobody seems to communicate with each other there. Hot tubs were not hot enough. The noise above our room was as if there was a herd of buffalo up there. Decor is very dated and peeling off the walls. Super in all fairness was exceptional and a credit to the chef. Breakfast was not so good as most of the food was either just luke warm or cold. Had also tried contacting the hotel numerous times during the week with no reply. Management and owners should go to Pekforton castle to see how a castle of this stature should be run and kept and the spa management should go to the grovenor pulford to see how a spa should be run. Definitely won’t be recommending this place to anyone!

We had a lovely time, yes our room wasn’t ready but they were very apologetic & explained they were really short staffed due to illness. We were given free drinks to compensate. We had a standard room which was lovely. This is my second time here & we’ve just rebooked to come back again. You can’t please everyone sadly. But we had a lovely time. Thank you Ruthin Castle 💕

Although receptionist was helpful it was a real disappointment from start to finish spa was a disaster hot tubs cold saunas full room not ready still at 4:10 pm. Very dated and in need of a lick of paint soooooo not worth the money they are charging for this dated hotel they need to take a leaf out of peckforton castle hotel to know how to run a castle!

Just spent a few days at the castle and had a lovely time the staff were friendly the food was lovely especially the evening meals the castle and ground were very picturesque. Although the castle does need a bit of tlc this did not spoil our stay, would definitely go back and recommend. Thank you for a lovely break.

Wonderful experience from start to finish The receptionist was welcoming and very informative, our afternoon tea was delicious and evening meal superb The staff were very helpful and attentive The spa treatments were wonderful and we came away feeling very relaxed The room was clean and the bed very comfortable Yes it is worn in places but it is an ancient castle so to be expected We will be returning and recommending to friends and family.

Excellent from the time we arrived to the the next day when we left. The Receptionist, the girls in the Spa, the bar and Restaurant staff were all brilliant and accomodating and considering they were relatively short staffed were very attentive and friendly. The room was excellent and the food was too. This was the second time we've been and we can't wait for our return.

Stayed for 1 night with spa treatments booked, got a call a couple of days before we were due to arrive telling us they had to cancel our treatments due to staff shortage, offered a full refund, we went anyway and used the hot tub, mud room and sauna, the girls in the spa were lovely. The evening meal was delicious and the restaurant is beautiful, we ended our evening in the bar and I have to say the barman was amazing, he took us for a little tour of the castle and explained the history which was fantastic definitely made our stay, yes it's a little run down but everyine has had a tough couple of years, you can see they started to do it up and lockdown hit, so hopefully they'll be able to get back on it very soon.

Bazzar Spa on the other hand was not great booked for a full body massage but was very poor compared to others we have had in the past. Day 2 was supposed to be a Hammam (the only reason I booked this hotel & travelled for 2 hours to get to it) had it booked for month's to be told when we arrived for our treatment that we couldn't have it very disappointed would not recommend the spa.

Had a lovely weekend though spa treatment had been cancelleddew to staff illness the staff did their very best to make sure we had a great time and were very pleasant even though they were doing long hrs to cover. Thank you so much and would definitely recommend Ruthin castle, hope to see you all soon.

Stayed here for 3 nights on the Indulgence spa package for our Anniversary. Lovely treatments and friendly staff. Beautiful old historic castle set in gorgeous grounds. Breakfast was a little basic hot bacon and sausage bap, croissant, juice, fruit and muffin delivered to our rooms. We understand there are restrictions in place with eating in so took it on board. Lovely spacious room with garden views. A great central location for exploring local attractions, walking distance to shops, and pubs. Highly recommended. We will return when restrictions ease to take full benefits of the beautiful hotel.

We had a lovely dinner, bed and breakfast stay here. Will definitely be returning. Everywhere was very clean and COVID 19 rules adhered to. Staff were polite and friendly. The castle and grounds were amazing and I would recommend a Chritmas stay as the decorations were beautiful.

Well I am one who’s pays attention to hygiene, face masks, attentive staff, friendly staff, environment friendly, here they have it all, plenty social distances, fantastic atmosphere, decor is lovely, better in life than in photos, all the staff were wearing masks, sanitising their hands regularly, very attentive, helpful, friendly, I just could not praise the castle enough, it’s been a few yrs since we have had it to these high standards, lovely to see it up and running so well, with that let’s all give it our full support, go back give it a try, if you know me, you know you will not be disappointed… way to go guys awesome. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Just come back from a one night stay, highly recommend, this was our 2nd visit and we weren't disappointed, the food was lovely, the staff were very friendly and efficient, will definitely be returning!

Had lovely afternoon tea, cakes and scones to die for! Lovely fresh varied sandwiches plenty of fresh tea, at Berties restaurant, staff excellent, can’t wait to go again!

It was once a beautiful building but needs millions spending on it — externally and internally to bring it back to anything decent. The exterior and grounds are pleasant on the way up the drive and inviting. On arrival at the car park you are greeted by two hideous lion statues and after this the experience gets worse. It has recently been taken over by new owners/manager and the Covid 19 situation hasn’t helped with finances but taking this account I still couldn’t recommend a stay here. We booked a dinner, overnight stay and breakfast with in room treatments. Once we navigated a slow check in and were shown to our room — all I can say it was disappointing. Paintwork was scuffed and scrapped. For a double delux room it was basic (room 118) However it’s aspect looked upon a flat roofs with air conditioning and over a pile of rubbish. However, one look at the bathroom saw us back at reception. There was toothpaste still in the sink — which was filthy. Marks on the mirrors and towel rails. A shower curtain hanging off. I’m cutting this short but we eventually got an alternative room — despite the manager not apologising or admitting any responsibility for the lack of standards. The second room (room 211) was a bit better but still fell far below our expected standards. It was supposed to be the Castle Suite and all I can say is if this is one of the best rooms available the hotel is disillusioned.

Lovely place lovely room food very good though evening meal a tad expensive for what you got. Defo go back beautiful surroundings great history. Downside lifts not working spa not very well signposted down a lot of stairs too hidden also. Place a bit tired in parts needs some urgent maintenance though some in progress. Staff very friendly though one receptionist a bit offhand. On the whole loved it defo be returning.

First impression at reception. How beautiful the colours. Gorgeous settees. Lovely room. Restaurant beautiful and food is very posh. The refurb has brought everything up to date. New windows for bedrooms needs which will costs fortune. Well done the new owners.

Amazing place. Very tranquil, steeped in history. The architecture is beautiful. All the staff are so friendly and helpful and the food was lovely. a must see.

Initially want happy as the room I booked was supposed to be luxurious but it wasnt. The lady on reception very helpful and changed rooms and it was lovely. The 3 course dinner was lovely when we eventually got it, took 1 hour for the starter and nearly another hour for main. The staff were really good realising we had been there for some time so the bottle of wine was free and any supplements on our meals were waived. Enjoyed our stay, shame it was so cold and windy, tree fell in car park and must have smashed up some cars.

Andrea in the Bazaar Spa gave the best massage I’ve ever experienced! Absolutely unbelievable highly recommend beautiful location and staff amazing 10/10

Wonderful place, amazing gardens with family of peacocks. Really comfy beds and gorgeous bathroom. Friendly staff, nothing too much trouble. Great bar and lovely food. Breakfast excellent. Unfortunately the spa was closed but will go back when it’s open.

Just come back from celebrating my husbands birthday with our family having had an outstanding Sunday lunch in Berties Restaurant. The staff were so helpful and lovely and couldn’t do enough for us to make our lunch special. The food was beautifully presented and tasted scrummy. Many thanks to you all. We have been looking for somewhere central for us all to meet up regularly for meals. I think we might of found our place. Again thank you. The Jackson Clan.

Superb place to stay. The grounds were brilliant and everything about the spa and hotel was great.

Lovely hotel with very friendly staff. Only a few mins walk to the centre of Ruthin.

This hotel is five star in so many ways but the lack of a pool or jacuzzi and the sauna being out of action means that in most people’s opinion 5stars would be over generous
The afternoon tea however (gluten free in my case) was first class and super generous. No guest managed to eat it all but the staff readily gave the left-overs to us in “ doggy bags”

Worst experience ever for afternoon tea with spa. Essentially Safeway bought scones, stale sandwiches, rude service (except our actual server), 20 minute massage, no working sauna, dated decor, mouldy fruit and generally very dirty. Do not recommend, even with a Groupon voucher. We spoke with someone on the reception who was very understanding and said she will follow up with management.

We had a great experience here. We had a suite that was fabulous. Great views, friendly staff, especially the young lady on the bar was rushed off her feet but very professional and polite. She made our evening there very relaxing. We will def be back.

My friends stayed here a little while ago, and despite some friendly staff, their overall experience was quite poor. To add insult, promises of compensation made by management have not been followed up and the hotel appear to have blocked further communication. Very disappointing.

Lovely place and staff lovely but service awful and good in restaurant very average. Steam room was working. Told our concerns in reception and was promised manager would ring … but still waiting!

The pulled pork bloomer and salad looked like it came out of a tesco meal deal and was put on my plate with a few leaves… I know I wasn’t the only person with an issue another couple sent back the afternoon tea,
another lady who was served before me never received the burgers she ordered,
and another lady complained also about the stale bread… The price of the food is on the more expensive side and sadly doesnt meet the pricey standard. Will not eat here again

Absolutely brilliant! The castle/hotel is located at the heart of a delightful village and is set within the extensive walls of a medieval fort, now encompassing a very green and lovely wood. There is plenty of parking. Check in and check out were efficient and one of the staff took us to the room (a courtesy that is very rare now a days). The staff were all courteous and polite. The hotel is truly a 4 star establishment. The room was very clean, spacious, well-lit and bright. It has been tastefully decorated with a lot of period features and one almost feels as if one has stepped back in time. A fridge, trouser press, iron, TV, safe, hairdryer, two arm chairs, a couple of tables and a desk chair were present in the room. The bathroom had a proper bath and had some good quality complimentary toiletries. The bed was absolutely brilliant… we fell asleep in an instant and were very reluctant to get up. The sound proofing was superb. Breakfast consisted of fried breakfast, cereals, fruit, cold meats, yoghurt, and a selection of bakery items and was served in the Bertie restaurant. The grounds are stunning. They have flocks of peacocks who are very partial to oats and bird feed. Squirrels and sheep too could be found in the grounds. One can spend a lot of time exploring the medieval castle and the town has everything that one would need. I wholeheartedly recommend Ruthin castle! My only regret is that we were there only for a day.

Location: excellent. Restaurant: high quality but leisurely. Rooms: above average with nice period features. Breakfast: slightly below par. Can't make espresso. Remember to take a stock of bread at breakfast to feed the peacocks! A little rough around the edges, but good value for money.

Would of given 5 stars if they had choice of pillows as they were not very comfy. Check in is strictly 3pm but we did not mind as we walked about and went for lunch at wetherspoons. We had the lady grey suite which was really lovely with great views. The evening meal was simply divine which was included in our package otherwise a bit pricey at £39.95 for 2 courses. The wine was £22 which was really lovely. Breakfast was buffet style and was hot, plentiful and tasty. The only gripe was cold plates. The only other gripe was next door having a shower at 7am as the pipes were making an awful loud noise. I would definitely go back and do it all again.

Had a great time here! Staff were amazing by and large… special mention to the new food and beverage manager who went above and beyond at breakfast when some of his younger staff weren’t pulling their weight! Also to the bar staff and reception staff who could not do enough for us. Ruthin as a town is a gem and this place is now the cherry on top of the cake!

This is an incredible place. The staff were fantastic, the room was beautiful, check in and check out was very easy and quick. The staff couldn't do enough for you and the castle grounds are beautiful. Plenty of places to explore and wander. The food in Bertie's was beautiful, the staff again were great and very friendly. Everything was beautifully presented and again you were treated as if nothing was too much. Breakfast was lovely. It was a buffet style breakfast offering both continental and cooked breakfast. A lovely variety of good foods and again, fab service… The spa had an amazing atmosphere, very friendly staff and fabulous facilities. There was a gym available too. The relaxation room was brilliant. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. A lovely overnight stay.

Historic building with fab grounds. Nice staff and atmosphere. In town centre so close to amenities. Room bright, clean and well maintained. Bathroom lovely with roll top bath. Food excellent, buffet breakfast had usual mixture of hot and continental servings. Service excellent. This was one of the most interesting hotels I have stayed in, definitely not a corporate box. The peacocks that roam the grounds are amazing and put on a display if you are patient. Really good value hotel.

Lovely grounds and amazing views on walks around the castle. I loved the peacocks. Unfortunately afternoon tea consisted of manufactured bread, Tesco sandwich fillers and little bits of cakes that tasted like they were from a packet on the shelf at the local SPAR. Only good part were the Welsh scones and clotted cream.

Second stay in the Jennie suite. Amazing room. Fantastic views. Lovely grounds and more peacocks than last time. Staff are very friendly, even for a private tour to the dungeon. Unfortunately this time the hotel was extremely busy with a medieval night and staff were unable to cope with the demand for room service. This was a shame as it tarnished our experience.

Beautiful surroundings, lovely building bedroom we had was a bit outdated, carpet stained, hot tap didn’t work and buttons missing of toilet. Went for lunch in bar was told to take a seat and someone would come and take our order 3/4 he later some came. Book meal for 8pm still waiting for menu 1/2 be later, was shocked to see only three items for starter, main and pud sad to see store bought patty, belly pork was more fat than meat so fed up did not bother with pud. Breakfast was not much better not sure how it was a welsh breakfast bacon was dry, black pud was soggy. Supprised not cooked fresh. Wife brought it for our aniverssery to say I was disappointed to say the least. Only giving three stars for location.

Just… Arrival sorry room not ready… also we are very busy… couldn't get into the restaurant until around… 20:30hrs. A Free drink at the bar. Thank you 16.00 still no room. Had enough… Walked into town… On return to reception around 20:45hrs… Lovely receptionist greeted us… "We have been looking for you as room was ready age's ago… Room was OK. A bit dated. Well it is a old building… Breakfast was just about warm… big trouble with buffet style. Staff very helpful. "History at it funniest" Bertie may not be amused… £2.50 for the restoration of the Castle wall? Great Western… Please spend some £££ on General Maintenance inside the Hotel.

We were given a Virgin experience voucher for Christmas for an overnight stay. The reception staff were lovely and friendly, the room was clean and tidy, and the hotel itself was stunning. However, when we were booked in for our meal at Berties restaurant, which was included with the voucher, we felt totally ignored all night. All the other tables that were in that night were getting their water and drinks topped up and we were left ignored in the corner. Also, we had over an hours wait for our food. People who came in after us were getting their food before us. When we finally got our food, and it was lovely. However, we were made to feel subordinate just because we were there on a voucher deal. We have never complained about a meal before, however it was the worst service we have had in a restaurant. It’s such a shame as it let our visit down.

Highly recommended, we have been a number of times for different occasions, and also stayed. Rooms are a good size with a beautiful bathroom in keeping with that castle feeling! t There are peacocks in the grounds and you are free to wander. Spa is small but good, we had the mud experience (can't remember what it's called! ) Lovely couple getaway or just for a spa day!

We visited the castle last week to attend a wedding. The castle and grounds are relatively small but very atmospheric and provide an amazing venue for a wedding. Built in the Tudor times the history of the place is very interesting and is typical of a mediaeval building. The only downside is that the hotel rooms are a little cool.

My fiancé bought a night here with breakfast as a treat and a treat it was! Gorgeous old castle commanding breathtaking views across the surrounding countryside. Even the basic rooms are luxurious and the decor is a subtle blend of modern and classic. The breakfast was made to to order and delicious and the prices in the wood panelled library bar were reasonable. The only reason our stay was not 5 star is that the hotel "spa" consists of treatment rooms, a relaxation room, steam room and sauna. I was really looking forward to a dip in either a small pool or jacuzzi.

Went to a wedding there recently, still waiting for the canopés. There must have been a lot of temporary staff on, so they didn't seem to know who was doing what. The reception meal was really good food but again we had to ask for coffee and the prosecco for the toast, as they missed out our table. Could of done with a manager overseeing. All the food and drink was lovely, the service could have been better.

We attended a wedding and stayed overnight. The wedding ceremony was lovely but it looked like the mirrors in that room hadn't been cleaned in a long while. The wedding meal main was quite cold when it arrived at the table and the bar was a bit overwhelmed and so it took a while to get served. The room was lovely but for some reason it was two single beds pushed together rather than a double bed. Also the online booking said we had booked a smoking room but they don't exist there so there is a discrepancy somewhere. Staff were very nice and the marquee for the wedding meal was beautifully decorated.

Don't have too high expectations and you'll enjoy your stay :) the castle is run down and old. BECAUSE IT'S A CASTLE! we didn't stay expecting the finest things in life, we stayed for the experience of staying in a castle that was once alive. Today it is a hotel. The grounds are lovely, the Library Bar was a great place to have a few drinks. If you take in all the mirrors on the hallways, the old style lift, and the fact that half the outside fort is falling apart — it will be a lovely experience :)

Unfortunately the rooms here are overpriced. Decor is aging, and the service leaves much to be desired — the heater in our room was broken, the person at reception said they'd send someone to take a look, but as far as we know this never happened and we had a chilly couple of nights! There's also something wrong with the pipework above the bathroom. Every time another guest turned on their tap we heard a loud clonk. Breakfast was pretty disappointing, especially the hot foods. Overcooked rubbery eggs and dry black pudding. While the quality of the hotel is lacking, especially considering the price, we had a good time as the grounds are so fun to explore. The peacocks were lovely, and many of them roosted right outside our bedroom window (room 310). So it gets 3 stars, but if you're looking for a luxury hotel with a decent spa, go elsewhere.

Booked into a suite for one night. Good size room, well equipped although would have liked sky TV and better towels, especially when paying for a suite. Do not expect too much from the spa, just a sauna (which was too hot) and steam room (not enough steam! ). Breakfast was good and staff were friendly and helpful.

It's not common that you get the opportunity to spend a night in a castle so it's good to snap up the opportunity to do so. Ruthin castle is well maintained by tastefully so, it doesn't take away from the fact it is a castle so it looks as though one would expect once inside. The grounds are lovely and there are a family of resident peacocks. We saw their chicks when we stayed and it was all very cute. This castle is apparently haunted, although we didn't experience anything whilst inside the castle, we noticed an orb in one of the photos many days after staying. I've posted it so see what you think! But honestly, a fabulous stay and a decent breakfast… Although the breakfast room was immensely busy.

Visited the Castle as part of preparations for daughter's wedding. We were well received and the wedding planner was very helpful. We were able to see all the rooms that would be used during the wedding and to see if the rooms and disabled facilities would be suitable for our disabled guests. The grounds were excellent and well maintained. Overall it was stunning.

The ambience was very good, but the lack of modern facilities was a little bit disappointing. The meals were good, but not exceptional. The views the castle had to offer was spectacular, one of the best I've ever seen. Overall, the experience of staying at a castle was one I would whole heatedly recommend, whether it be Ruthie castle or something else.

Spent a couple of nights here for our wedding anniversary. Location is great and room we stayed in was excellent. Had good food in both the bar and the restaurant and would recommend both. Also had spa treatments which were very good. Would say in relation to the spa that it is good for treatment but not the kind of place you could spend a few hours relaxing as only has sauna and steam room plus some relaxtion chairs. Doesn't detract from the hotel though which was really good.

My wife and I were married here seven years ago and try to revisit at least once a year. The staff are always welcoming and attentive and the hotel has a lovely mix of old historic castle and modern convenience. The food is always good and Berties restaurant is lovely. We used the spa facilities this time a made use of one of the offers… we will be using it again next time it was lovely and relaxing and still had that special and unique feel of the rest of the castle. Lovely short break again!

Stayed in the Lillie suite which is lovely. Spa was nice, food very good, and the location is fantastic.

Great food & service, ive never stayed in the rooms but I know they are nice. Overall, great place.

Attended wedding showcase and viewed banquet hall and Prince of Wales room. Amazing and staff very helpful.

Went to the castle to have a look at the wedding fair. Is a fantastic location and exactly what we are looking for. Great selection of packages and a great feeling around the people and exhibitors for this venue. The rooms are all well looked after and the medieval section of the castle is fantastic for anyone interested in that period. The surrounding grounds are in keeping with the area and will make brilliant photo opportunities all year round.

We stayed at Ruthin Castle last night to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary. We have to say it was at least 20 out of 10 absolutely fabulous. We also attended the medieval banquet and that was second to none, the staff and entertainment was also brilliant, not to mention all the fabulous peacocks roaming around the grounds.

A very nice place to stay with friendly and helpful staff. If you get one of there special's its amazing value.

Their Hygeine Rating was 2 out of 5; the lowest I've ever seen. We haven't eaten/stayed here but we came for an appointment to talk about weddings and it was an immediate no. Dingy rooms and hallways (which, obviously, are old and whatnot but just completely lifeless). Drab wedding rep who seemed like some random member of staff who had just been given the empty position. Toilets were gross too. Place was far too rough around the edges.

My family, friends and I attended the medieval banquet to celebrate a special birthday. What a fantastic night. The staff did all they could to make the evening both special and memorable for all of us. The food was outstanding and plentiful, the entertainment was not only of the period but also engaging and witty. I would thoroughly recommend an evening at this authentic castle. Ten out of Ten.

Once again the Ruthin Castle Hotel goes into administration. No doubt leaving a trail of debt for others to pick up. Yet the Directors come out still managing the company have "Pre packed" yet another deal in advance. This should not be allowed. Avoid like the plague to stop this legal robbery carrying on. Great stay here. Nice room really nice grounds. Food at the bar was excellent and the staff are really nice. Would recommend.

Rooms were fantastic, clean and well decorated. The bed was firm but comfortable. The castle and grounds were absolutely gorgeous, and the staff were polite, friendly and helpful. The food was excellent, and although the restaurant was pricey the food was flawless and the experience was lovely. Would recommend.

Fantastic stay at Ruthin castle. We booked here for three nights as a romantic mini moon. We stayed in one of the bigger salon rooms. Found it very nice. Comfy bedding, room refreshed everyday with new towels, toiletries and chocolates. Staff were very welcoming and polite, always more than happy to help. The moat spa is lovely and very relaxing. Food was excellent. But the atmosphere of this fantastic hotel tops anywhere else I have ever stayed. Highly recommend a stay and spending a little extra for one of the bigger bigger luxury suites to get the full medieval castle experience. It could do with decorating in places but that would only move it from 4* to 5*.
