Whilst having a weekend away in Tregaron, I Had my Birthday Meal on Sat 12th June 2021. Fabulous food and exceptional service. Thoroughly recommend.

Homely pub with friendly staff.

We stayed at the Hotel for a two night stay. The bedroom was very comfortable plenty of tea and coffee available. Spotlessly clean. Good quality bathroom products. The food was amazing and would highly recommend. The Patagonia Malbec was a hit with our meal. The pub was warm comfortable and welcoming. Staff could not be more helpful and was lovely to be able to converse in Welsh with them. Give this establishment a try. Great value thoroughly enjoyed.

Fantastic place — one of my favourite coaching inns in Wales.

Great bar with good choices of ciders and ales. Food was delicious. We are bikers and stopped off here. Plenty of parking outside. Wish we had stayed to have a taste of the ciders and ales, but alas we were riding… next time.

We had our wedding here on 11th May! We had an amazing day in an amazing place! The staff were brilliant from planning stages right through to the end. The ceremony room was just big enough to make our wedding intimate with our close family. The food was amazing and all our guests dietary needs were met without a problem. We would like to thank all the staff in helping us have an amazing day without a hitch!

Fantastic food and service. Large portions and great value for money. Vegan option on the menu was delicious. Staff were lovely and food was brought out promptly and so well presented. Will definitely be going there again.

Very happy to have found this lovely place. Charming owners, wonderful friendly and articulate staff. Great food. Great room (no. 7) with a bathroom that the Ritz would be proud of. Very dog friendly, we were able to eat off the full menu in the bar with him asleep under the table. (dogs not allowed in the main restaurant but you can't have everything can you? Tregaron is a good friendly town in lovely countryside and about 40 mins from the coast. Will return!

Having read excellent reviews about Y Talbot we were keen to try it for ourselves.
Although we are staying at St. Dogmaels near Cardigan, we decided to follow the sat nav’s instructions and travelled north to find you.
We travelled through some beautiful countryside to reach Tregaron and managed to reach you but with only 5 minutes until food was off!
The lovely young lady behind the bar took our order for lamb rump with dauphinois potatoes, carrot purée and spinach. It was sublime, tender and pink in the middle, an absolute delight.
Once our plates were scraped clean and cleared we were offered the dessert menu and chose the blueberry and almond tart with vanilla ice cream. An amazingly zingy tart that was full of blueberries.
We are only in Wales for a few days more but we are planning a second sortie to try the crab!

Not as good as when we visited last year. Light meals very basic-disappointed.

Excellent food, superb service and accessible to our mum who uses a walking aid, a lovely Sunday lunch experience with a diverse menu to suit all tastes. Definitely worth a visit.

Excellent food with a good menu using fresh and local produce at affordable prices. Wine also is well priced. You come here to eat good food and to enjoy company. We're regulars here and have never been disappointed.

We came here about a month ago, when the snow was falling. Despite the cold weather, we were warmed by the lovely reception we received by staff. We had an outstanding meal here. The food was creative, high quality and fresh. We went to a similarly rated hotel further down south where we were served reheated rubbish. This hotel shone by comparison — we were delighted by the high standards here. The room we stayed in was spacious, with a large bathroom and a comfortable bed, as well as a sofa bed. We couldn't have asked any more from Y Talbot. I would recommend it to anyone.

Food has been lovingly prepared with the best ingredients. Excellent. The staff are absolutely great, nothing too much trouble. Be sure to try the marmalade ice cream. Delicious. Would highly recommend.

Yet again friendly staff, perfectly prepared, seasoned and delicious food… We always get chatting to people… a little gem of a place…

I called in for a lunchtime pint to break up a trip to the area. The sun was shining so I sat on an outside bench and watched the world go by as I shipped the very nice guest beer. Friendly faces behind the bar and a nice atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

A very nice pub/bar in Tregaron. Went there for lunch with my parents, wife and son and the menu was varied and very nice with a good selection from both the main menu and the kid's menu. The kid's menu also had a picture to colour on the other side; lots of these were covering one wall which highlights the family friendly feel. Service was fast and friendly and the food very nice. They seemed to go a bit overboard with the peas with the cottage pie, but you don't have to eat them all I suppose. The ketchup being in little glass jars was completely unnecessary, it was annoying having to use a knife to empty five or so into my son's plate so he had enough, but that is just a minor gripe on an otherwise lovely meal. Highly recommend.

What a fantastic pub, The staff are so friendly and helpful, they cannot do enough for you, the food is second to none and the beer is always cold, we have now made it our local and just love it, thankyou all, cheers Jim n tracey.

Always the best pub in the village. Real ales, and good food. I've called here for three decades. It is still the same characterful pub,. Newly refurbished rooms make it a better option than ever for a stay.

A lovely traditional country hotel with bar and restaurant. Have yet to try the food in the evening but lunch in the pub was great, they also have a well curated selection of Welsh ciders and real ales. The staff are friendly and professional and the pub is dog friendly too. Highly recommended!

Such a lovely hotel for a weekend away in West Wales. A great cosy atmosphere and quiet retreat.

It's a lovely place to stay, comfortable beds, clean and nice food in bar. Cheerful friendly staff. We enjoyed our stay very much. It's in a nice area of village. Bus stop outside. Plenty of parking spaces. Spar supermarket opposite and lovely gift homeware shop nearby too.

Big dishes nicely cooked. If you have kids they better behave otherwise the owner will kick you out.

Great old drivers inn, good ale and cider and yummy food. You can eat in the cosy old bar area's, or chose the more modern dinning room in the hotel.

Beautiful hotel in a quiet Welsh village. The menu was full of local fayre and food was excellent. The chef had worked with Marco Pierre White and was a former sous chef at the Ritz. Bar is well stocked with local ales and ciders. The rooms were excellent, beds very comfy. The service was friendly and attentive through my stay and the full Welsh breakfast was delicious. I would highly recommend this hotel and hope to stay there again.

Serves fantastic food (the kind of thing you'd find at a top London restaurant). The full menu is available in the bar and the restaurant and you can have your dog in the bar area. The staff are very attentive and friendly. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone (to stay at or to eat at).

Room was really good with a very comfortable bed, lovely strong shower and was smart and clean. The service was excellent and very friendly and the food was absolutely gorgeous. Everyone in our party loved the leg of welsh lamb.

Lovely, smart appearance and location. Warm welcome from friendly staff. Great selection of drinks and guest ales available. Had a fantastic steak cooked perfectly, whilst my wife had a perfectly cooked lamb dish. Both tasted wonderful. Would recommend to anyone.

Renovated three years ago the historic building contains fresh, chic rooms with period features but great comfort. Superb bathroom and bed. Really enjoyed the lively and friendly bar. Good Welsh breakfast options set us up for the day and we took a packed lunch too. Wonderful weekend to explore the area.

We visited earlier this week whilst staying in west Wales… took an hour and half to drive there but it was definitely worth it! We had a fabulous lunch! The starters (chicken liver parfait and Boksburg Blue & beetroot salad) and main course (shepherds pie and sea bass) were fab and we would have loved dessert but far too full so opted for the homemade ice-cream, which was a great way to finish a lovely dining experience. Staff were very friendly and attentive. We live in Cardiff but it won't stop us returning… happy to travel a couple of hours for delicious food and a warm Welsh welcome! Keep up the good work Y Talbot.

So lucky to have this gem on our doorstop. We send all our customers here for lunch & recommend it as a place to stay nearby. We regularly eat here & the staff are always attentive & friendly. With superb food coming from the kitchen by way of the talented Dafydd.
