Fantastic friendly staff, Brenda and Heather are brilliant. The food is amazing, personally recommend the Macaroni and the daily roast. Really comfortable atmosphere and during theses difficult times very efficient. Hopefully won’t be too long until you’re able to function normally again. Good luck and best wishes to all the staff. We have just had the most delightful 3 course lunch! The fish cakes tasted amazing, the beef was delicious, the Yorkshire pudding was the size of a small continent, and the sticky toffee pudding, well, that was the softest, sweetest pudding I've had for a very long time.

Food was fantastic lovely and clean and nice feel in the place. Staff are lovely and don't hover. I also took advantage of the 2 pizzas for £10 to take home for my husband who said they were delicious. This will be our regular place now.

Went for Sunday lunch last weekend and was thoroughly impressed with the Sunday lunch menu, even though I decided for a very nice pizza instead. Reasonable prices too.

Stopped in for a bit of lunch very welcoming staff looked after us and food was delicious, would recommend it to anyone.

We called in on New Years Day and had such a warm welcome from the staff and a roaring log fire and even the drinks were modestly priced We will be back!

Had lunch here previously and thought we'd bite the bullet and have Christmas lunch. We were not disappointed. The portions were huge and the quality of food was incredible. I've been to many places where you were treated more like an object on a conveyor belt than a human enjoying a Christmas meal — but not the Tweeddale. We arrived early, sat having a beer by the fire, spent ages trying to get through the 4, no wait, 5 courses, and spent a little more time by the fire afterwards. The only downside was the portion sizes, massive! How can you complain when the food is so nice and you get doggy bags full! Overall, we booked Christmas based on the quality of a lunch earlier in the year and also from some recommendations from friends. Again, we were not disappointed. More than likely we'll rebook for next year. If you're looking for a place to have a coffee on a run out, a lunch or dinner — I would sincerely recommend the Tweeddale.

Beautiful inviting and cosy country hotel. Had afternoon tea for 6 people. The cakes and scones all home made and delicious. Also served fresh strawberries and cream to go with the scones. A large platter of fresh sandwiches with lovely cold cuts plus cheese and pickle, plenty for 6! It was the very best afternoon tea we have EVER had. We sat by the log fire in comfortable easy chairs. Bliss. I booked ahead and was able to specify sandwich fillings and can recommend the home cooked ham and beef. Top quality! Price? Amazing at 15 pounds… for two!. Can't wait to go back.

Good value for money. The rooms are nice and clean. The breakfast is excellent with good variety. Only problem is that it's a bit out of the way if you are interested in visiting Edinburgh.

Stopped off for lunch what a lovely place comfortable lounge with old portraits and a gorgeous fireplace and comfortable sofas. Lunch was cooked to order fresh produce and piping hot staff friendly would definitely go again.

Clean room and food food. Portions massive (both dinner & breakfast). Also got a good tip for helping a sore throat from one of the staff. Thanks. Would highly recommend.

I've taken some time to consider my feelings and even after a month I still have great memories of my stay here. The recent renovations have made the hotel much classier and in keeping with its history. The food was excellent and I very much enjoyed the peace and quiet you can get in the coffee lounge away from the bar and restaurant areas. If I had only one bit of advice for the owners it would be to work out how to make it easier to notify the waiting staff that you've arrived for breakfast as they are often in the kitchen and you can wait a while for somebody to check if a guest has come down to eat. That minor niggle aside I can honestly say I would love to stay here again and have no hesitation in recommending it as a lovely place to rest and relax.

Just returned from a 2 night stay. A genuinely friendly welcome. Very comfortable and clean double ensuite room. Ate in the restaurant both nights — fabulous food with generous portions.
However, the best thing of our stay was the breakfast — the best breakfast we have ever had. High quality produce cooked to perfection. Highly recommended the full Scottish option.
Will definitely return if we are ever anywhere near. Thank you to all staff.

Great atmosphere, great people. Close to the city while still getting the country feel. Will return again!
