Had a fab Christmas party tonight in the Function room so well organised they deserve a ten out of ten staff also friendly and helpful amazing Empress Hotel keep up the good work.

Great atmosphere lovely hotel breakfast exceptional.

We had a function for the Bulgarian community on the Island. We had an absolutely amazing night there. The staff are great professionals, very smiled and nice. Food was delicioussssss. The function room has the best atmosphere for having a party on the Island. Absolutely 5 star from all of us.
Thanks to all the staff for everything and our next party will definitely be there again.

A lovely hotel, staff very helpful and friendly. My requests for Gluten Free meals were generally met. Just once they brought me the wrong meal which they changed but I had to wait about 30 minutes and my wife had to wait even longer for her "normal" food due to a further mix up at the same time.
They didn't have any Gluten Free deserts other than ice cream. This was very disappointing as both I and the travel agent contacted the hotel regarding my dietary needs. I would have thought that a hotel of this size should be able to provide Gluten Free deserts.
We enjoyed our stay at The Empress and we would probably return.

Great Hotel friendly staff excellent food well positioned.

Stayed there for three nights from 12 April 2019. Lovely refurbished rooms. The best mattress I have slept on in quite some time. Reception, bar and breakfast staff outstanding, friendly and professional. Thus is old style service with an up to date twist. Loved it!

Great customer service but food is too expensive even though not the best food.

Only had tea and used the bar twice. Welcoming, peaceful, clean well designed. Very pleasant service.

Central location on sea front. Very good facilities with excellent services. Found a standard double room room small. Reasonable costs.

The restaurant food was great. I loved the fish dishes. They were cooked to perfection. The desserts were tasty such as Eton Mess, Creme Brulee and white chocolate tart. My husband loved the Surf and Turf. We ate in the restaurant 2 nights. Both times we sat in the conservatory with views over the bay. The room had a new carpet, recently decorated and comfortable beds. The breakfast had a great choice from Danish pastries etc, cooked breakfast, cereal, fresh fruit and yogurt. They would cook Manx Kippers (delicious) and other items on request. The staff were very friendly. The location was in the central of the promenade.

Do not stay there if you are on bussiness trips. No where in the bar area for you to sit and work. Their restaurant area next to it is always empty and has suitable tables but they wont let you sit there even when those are completely empty and no event booking. Bar area too noisy no plugs for laptops. Internet unstable and slow. When I stayed there for 5 days for a long bussiness trip and asked for a few pieces of blank A4 paper or a spare biscuit once got dirty looks — even when they are completely empty, which is most of the time not surprisingly given how woody and stiff they are. Some other staff are very nice but they are just very dated and have never caught on to modern hospitality or just being a little realistic and flexible.

Went on coach trip. Bedroom very small. Cat swinging not an option. Were there celebrating our ruby wedding anniversary which was stated on booking form but hotel chose not to acknowledge this. On the plus side food and bar very good. First time on a tour holiday for 20 plus years so I suppose they don't get the best rooms allocated. We did see into another room which was being serviced and it was huge. Would stay there again independently with a better rpom guaranteed.

Very nice hotel in an ideal location on the front overlooking the beach. Front rooms have good views of the bay. Breakfast has a great choice of food.

Lovely seafront position. Great seating areas with sea views. Standard rooms rather small, would pay small upgrade charge for larger sea view rooms if we used it again. Good comprehensive menu with excellent breakfast and friendly helpful staff.

Small comfortable room. Booked half board only to be told on the first night the restaurant was full and we'd have to make do with a bar snack. I don't need to say it didn't go down very well with us. I think a must have made a bit of a fuss as the next night I was telephoned and asked if I would be going to the restaurant.

We loved everything about our stay, the staff were so helpful and amazing, the room was clean and excellent services. I would definitely stay there again.

Nice hotel on the e Seafront. Imposing looking place from the front but the rooms could do with freshening uo. Also there is a great deal of variation between the rooms. Ours was small and I'll equipped in comparison to some others.

Convenient location, great breakfast and facilities. Our room had a bay window with armchairs and a table which was great for enjoying a cup of tea. The only thing that let the room down was the worn and wrinkled carpet. Apart from that a great place to stay and friendly helpful staff.

Great dinner dance, the food was hot and delicious, entertainment was good, staff were friendly and room was clean (a tad small). Breakfast buffet was excellent too.

Good hotel. Room recently renovated with comfortable bed and large TV in room. TV has full sky package so can watch sports or favourite channels. Only ate breakfast at hotel and this is a buffet style with a reasonable choice.

Had a single inside room for a business trip. The inside of the building shows some wear but the room was comfortable and the food was good. Everything inside was comfortable and clean.

I'm giving it a 3 because of the helpful and friendly staff but I was initially in an inside room but upgraded to room 210 as my wife was visiting. Big mistake. Do not ask for room 210. I've hardly had any sleep as I'm sure the room next door is being used either by staff or benefit/long term users. Telly on full whack from 5.30 am until 2am the next day. In the end had to ring reception to get them to turn it off. The room above needs about 500 woodscrews in the floorboards to stop it sounding like an old ghost ship. Didn't help the old couple above sounded lime they were practising their sctritly routine. Wish I'd stayed in the quiet inside room now. Bigger and dearer is not always better.

We have just spent 2 days on the isle of man. 2 nights spent here at the Empress hotel. We were very impressed with the hotel. Condition of the hotel was better than I expected, with it being the end of the season. Our room was very spacious, clean and had everything we required. The bed was very comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Nothing seemed to much trouble. The breakfasts were great. Everything cooked perfectly. I will return to the island. And will for sure be staying here! Thank you Empress.

Our room clean and tidy if a bit smaller than expected. As we were with a tour the dinner menu was limited but the food was well presented and good quality. Breakfast was buffet style and reasonable quality. Staff were generally friendly and efficient with a couple of exceptions. Public areas were very good and the single lift worked without a hitch. Hotel is in prime location on the sea front with bus stops close by. This is the a older hotel which has been well refurbished.

Good food reasonable rooms, a bit fuddy duddy in attitude and a big coach party when I was there.

Enjoyed our stay. Room with sea view worth having. Well serviced & clean. Only had B&B but breakfast was good-plenty of choice, staff bring tea/coffee, etc. Then self service.

I stay in a lot of hotels for work but this one is one of the best I've stayed in. For the money I paid to be able to get a higher end room with a bigger TV than my own and sky on it was to me better than I have experienced. Good bed and great view. Loved the budger restaurant downstairs. It had big good portions that were top quality for again a reasonable price. Definately will return here.

Was there for 4 nights with Railtrail. Single room was small, bed against the window which did not help, for me the desk and bedside cabinet in wrong place. Unit for the kettle should not be there. Bedside cabinet should have been next to window so you could walk round bed to close and open curtains instead of having to climb over the bed to open and shut curtains. The plus side the food was very good. Good choice for breakfast and dinner at night. Great service from all the staff. If only the furniture in room was moved around that would make all the difference to my stay.

We stayed at The Empress Hotel for 4 nights in April. The hotel is tastefully decorated, we would recommend booking a sea view room as the view of the promenade is lovely. The rooms had just been refurnished before we arrived so the rooms look well kept and are clean, Sky TV is available in the rooms as well. Its location in the centre of Douglas is perfect for exploring the town as well as travelling further afield if you are driving on the island. Parking can be a nightmare on the promenade at times in front of the hotel but that is out of the hotel's control. The breakfast is good and varied with a mixture of continental and English breakfast options. We ate at the Brasserie restaurant one evening and the food was fantastic, the baked blueberry cheesecake is to die for! We cannot recommend the restaurant enough, it can get busy so best to reserve a table. Our only disappointment with the hotel is the attitude of the staff, they are not very welcoming and do not acknowledge you at all unless you approach them. This is the only thing keeping the hotel from a 5 star review in our opinion.

Had a great stay for a wedding great staff but the one staff who was exceptional was Mathew behind the bar! A Credit to the hotel and to himself no request was a problem for him he was the perfect host and his hospitality was perfect GREAT JOB MATHEW!
