A family celebration made special by the staff at Foyles. We have visited many times. Excellent menu and attentive service. There were 15 of us including children, all courses were hot and brought out the same time. Thank you we will return.

Food was delicious and the service was 10 out of 10

Booking via email we expected a confirmation but it was far better than that.
They booked us a table for the first evening and confirmation was totally on trust. This is so refreshing. Outstanding service and food. COVID has meant restrictions but they play it to the letter and this inspires confidence. Well done. May the gods smile upon your future.

Had an overnight stay for my partner's birthday. Evening meal was delicious, room was lovely and the bed comfy. Breakfast was good and the staff amazing.
We just called there today at lunchtime, was hoping for a " lunchtime menu" but only the one menu available. A bit pricey for lunch but it was delicious. .

We finally got round to visiting Foyles for afternoon tea, and it did not disappoint. The staff were really helpful and extremely accommodating. The conservatory was the perfect setting for our tea, where we enjoyed a selection of sandwiches and some beautiful cakes.
The food looked amazing too and we're looking forward to visiting again.
Would denfinately recommend!

Great rooms, food, ambience, staff, location. A real favourite.

2nd time dining at The Foyles and we wasn't let down. Greeted by staff, social distancing with tables, NHS track and trace code, hand sanitizer, staff all very friendly and great table service. Even though it takes us over 30minutes to travel here we will come here whenever we go out for dinner. Thank you to the staff and the Chief/s for a wonderful evening.

Cute & Quaint rooms with a full service restaurant (the food was good). The staff was very friendly and helpful. My room (room 1) looked as if it was brand new (sure it was remodeled recently) — they do a great job with cleaning and presentation.

Very friendly staff, good restaurant with very reasonably priced food. The bar is small and gets very busy, lots of seating outside but little inside. Rooms are small but modern and well appointed, they overlook the outside bar area though so you may find it noisy when warm outside.

Lovely building with lots of great touches. Popped in after fruit picking in Hereford. Enjoyed our bar meal in the restaurant. One fish and chips (very nice), steak pie and mash (delicious, lots of steak) and pulled ham hock hash with a fried egg (again really delicious). We would have had a dessert but there was only an a la carte menu of desserts that were £8 and £9 each. There was nothing ordinary like a sticky toffee pud. I asked for a scoop of vanilla ice cream and an espresso (which I poured over the ice cream — an afogato) they obliged and it was lovely and only cost £1.95 for the coffee and £2.00 for the ice cream. The service was good. We would definitely recommend Foyles.

Been for family events and just for a meal, service and food both good. Parking can be difficult on busy nights.

Stayed for 2 nights and found it friendly, relaxed, but with great service and excellent food. Ate one of the best lamb pies I have ever had — would visit again just for that. Nice courtyard too, and just a stone's throw from the river Wye…

Recently renovated, this place is cosy & friendly enough for lunch with friends while still being upmarket enough for date night. Reasonable prices and good food.

Lovely place small local hotel with a very nice restaurant which serves some amazing food at reasonable prices as well, food is great flavours put together well, well presented food on the plate, look good to eat & not to much like a piece of art work. We all had different dishes for starters, mains and dessert, all tasted great to my palate and again very good portions served up for each course. Fully recommend this restaurant and the hotel is wonderful of course, who ever did the décor for the interior had bags of style and flair for interior design top marks all around. All staff deserve a mention from the chef, kitchen staff, bar & waiting staff to front of house all very pleasant and happy in their jobs. My personal five star rating is worth it, as a lot of effort has been put in to achieve that feeling of pleasant luxury country hotel & restaurant.

Went to Foyles for Mother’s Day I had a very disappointing starter and Sunday dinner! For starter I had shellfish cocktail, there was still shell on the mussel. I had beef for my main the roast potatoes were very dry and floury, veg was raw and I like al dente vegetables and the Yorkshire puddings were doughy. The best bit about the meal was the beef this was really lovely! I didn’t have a dessert but everyone else did there was 8 of us and 2 people where coeliac (gluten free) they had separate menus. My uncle (one of the coeliacs) ordered the chocolate tart off the gluten free menu. Half way threw him eating it they told us it actually wasn’t gluten free! The waitress was very upset and she dealt with everything really well but it’s the chef that was to blame as he should be in control of all the meals going out of the kitchen. My uncle isn’t affected as bad as my Nan she would have been extremely ill! Very upset about this, I recommend if you are coeliac or gluten free don’t trust this place to eat! We have been here a few times and had lovely food so very disappointed!

Booked Foyles to stay but also for a wake after my Mothers funeral last weekend which of course was seriously affected by snow. Despite the tremendous difficulty in getting to the hotel for many when we were there the staff and hospitality showed was unbelievable. My mother had worked in 5* hotels around the world and she would have loved it. Nothing was too much trouble: rooms, food and and service absolutely first rate. Planning on annual family reunions at Foyles already!

Came to Foyles for a long weekend in February with my wife, having not stayed in 15 years, at which time it was still The Maesllwch. The interior, including the accommodation, has changed beyond all recognition, but the bar still has a community feel to it. The refurbished bar, restaurant, and function rooms are absolutely gorgeous, and have definitely been bought in to the 21st Century, although there are enough small touches that you still feel as though you are in a family run venue. The food, and service by the staff, was faultless throughout the weekend, and it was great too see all the staff smiling and relaxed, yet still attentive. The accommodation itself was clean, modern, and spacious, generously stocked with refreshments, and the bathrooms are lovely. Having both worked in the hospitality industry for 10+ years, myself and my wife are normally fussy when we go away, but I can honestly say there wasn't the slightest hiccup all weekend. Thank you for a fantastic stay, we hope to be back in the summer.

Beautiful room and bathroom with bath for nice soak. Very comfortable bed we slept really well. Lovely tasty breakfast. Very friendly would definitely stay again.

I was recommended Foyles by my b&b owner, for some evening food on a Monday. Looks great from the outside, it's even nicer inside! Food wise, I went for leek & potato soup followed by linguine with chorizo and mozzarella, wonderful wonderful!

Been to the restaurant a few times where the decor is nice, the atmosphere is quiet and the food doesn't quite warrant the prices but overall a pleasant experience.

Very nice decor, bright & modern, food was a bit hit & miss, timings wrong and potion sizes were all over the shop. The wait staff were good and did their best to correct what ever was happening in the kitchen. Feels like they just need to push the quality a bit more on the food — the intention with the restaurant and service is there.

Stayed 1 night at Foyles for a friends wedding. I find it impossible to fault this fabulous hotel, the rooms are immaculate, the food is delicious and the staff attentive. All in all a brilliant hotel cant recommend enough.

We went to Foyles for dinner with my family — 4 adults and 2 children. The food was excellent and it was great to see a different children's menu from the norm with mini ploughman's. It is very spacious and friendly service. We'll be back!

Great job on the modernization, beautifully laid out, beautiful restaurant decor, very inviting… But… What a shame about the food. This could have been an amazing hit, they have everything going for them. So much money invested wasted by poor food. Couldn't even cook a steak. The pasta dish was not good either. I have tried a few times and eaten here every time but always they let themselves down with the food… Get a new chef and this place could be amazing. Shame.

My wife and I had a meal there on my birthday. We were made very welcome even though we had not "dressed up". The service was excellent and the food was superb. We normally eat out at a local Inn so we paid a little more than normal but it was well worth it. I would recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.

Amazing service and friendly staff. Hotel is newly fitted out with modern deco. Restaurant had nice ambience. Food was not bad. Rib eye steak was cooked well but peppercorn sauce was too sweet for me and lost the pepper taste.
