Excellent customer service when Walking Festival cancelled. Can’t wait till we are allowed back. Will definitely be eating, drinking & staying at The Dragon Inn Crickhowell.

Went to Dragon today for coffee with a friend and, as it was my birthday, the lovely ladies brought out a cake with a firework candle. What a lovely gesture — always a special welcome at this lovely establishment!

This place is amazing. The food is superb, the staff are friendly and welcoming and there is a huge selection of beverages to choose from. It's also the only gastropub in Crickhowell to serve food until 10pm! Their rack of lamb is highly recommended.

Late Sunday lunch. Family had roasts beef and lamb, 2 yorkshires each with lots of fresh veg and gravy. I think it was £12.95. Efficient and friendly service. Dogs welcome but only at two tables so worth booking one of them.

Really enjoyed the Sunday roast at the dragon today very good prices even the daily menu looks good. Staff really nice. This is my first visit and will go again.

Perhaps one of the friendliest Inn's I've stayed at, all the staff are terrific but one chap named Rhys was the star and our dog certainly benefited from the attention. We stayed two nights in one of their Superior Doubles £99 per night for two and their pictures of the rooms are accurate; comfortable and clean. Our biggest regret was not eating here for the evening meal, given how wonderful the breakfasts were, dinner would surely be magical. The narrow entrance to the car park at the rear will scare some, but the garden at the back is a treat itself. A place that is both homely and elegant without being stuffy.

I went here today as a party of 12 adults and 3 young children. I have been here before and have always had good food and service, today was no exception. The food was all served together and everyone enjoyed it, very tasty and good price. The only problem was that we needed two high chairs for the two 1yr olds the waiter took a while to get them as he said they only had two in the restaurant, both these were broken, the first The table was hanging off the front and the second the safety straps were broken so I couldn't strap my baby in. I'm sure this popular family restaurant can afford to buy suitable high chairs for customers. Also I could not find any suitable baby changing facilities? After the meal we sat in the beer garden which is done beautifully and a lovely area for the children to play safe in just a shame about the two disappointing points I have raised.

Lovely main courses — our party of 8 enjoyed them all. Plenty of vegetarian options. Attentive and friendly service. My rice pudding dessert a bit disappointing — average and not hot enough and £6.95 was too much.

Popped in for a late lunch. Very busy and short staffed but delicious food and good service considering the circumstances. Would visit again.

Staff helpful however service was slow, even as the place became quieter. Menus are in the process of being updated but staff were happy too help with allergen and dietary information. Toilets very small, could be quite a wait if busy. Unsure of baby changing facilities as I did not see these on this visit. Good range of drinks and prices in keeping with similar establishments.

Afternoon tea was lovely and such friendly staff. Also sitting in the gardens with a large wine and my friend having a good catch up was so good. Recomended by myself. XxDonna xx.

A lovely place to dine and have a pint. It's a little more expensive than other pub's, but it's worth it.

Beautiful setting, warm welcoming staff who couldn't do enough for us. My wife and I spent our 9th wedding anniversary at the Dragon where the food was incredibly reasonably priced and very well prepared. I will be definitely be visiting again in the summer to make use of their massive and beautifully maintained beer garden.

I'm generally underwhelmed when I eat out so I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food here. Though I could have done with bigger portions as I'm on the greedy side. Friendly, decent booze. All good.

We've had a wonderful meal here today and would recommend it to anyone. A really lovely atmosphere with very friendly staff in very nice surroundings.

Quite quiet when we arrived but filed up quickly so best book a table. Service very good, duck to start which was very tasty. 4 different main meals, garlic chicken, sea bass, rib eye steak and venison. All cooked as required and very tasty, all plates cleared. Would be 5 stars but little slow with chicken and the wine. Excellent meal though.

We had our xmas works meal here on Friday, absolutely gorgeous, the staff were all very helpful, I am lactose intolerant and I usually state this when I book but disappointingly in past years at different venues there has been no lactofree choice of cream/custard even though I have pre — warned them. This year I didn't bother to mention it thinking I would just take some with me, however, not having had time to pick some up on the way I enquired on arrival if there was a deli nearby that were likely to stock it so I could pop and get some, within 10 minutes the staff member came back to me with both cream and custard which she had just bought! Absolutely brilliant service, thank you to all involved.

The room was rather smaller than expected. The bathroom was not great I am 6 feet tall and had to duck under the beams in the bathroom and the bedroom. Bar staff good, breakfast good but overall not value for money. Will not be going back.

The Dragon Inn was a lovely and quaint pub & restaurant. The staff were very friendly and attentive. While slightly cramped in the back room, the outside area was lovely and was very pleasant to sit in.

We enjoyed our visit to the Dragon. Good solid menu with something for everyone. High standard of cooking, excellent service and a good beer and wine. We had six dishes between us and five were very good — just let down a little bit by the portion size of the lentil pate — only 2 teaspoon-sized quenelles, which wasn't enough. But that was more than compensated for by the battered fish which was gigantic (and excellent).

Stayed for one evening for a works trip. Was warmly welcomed upon arrival and shown room. Room was beautiful, recently refurbished and well stocked with all amenities (tea, coffee, hot choc, fluffy towels, pillows, etc). A lovely touch was the individual chocolates from the local Black Gold Mountain, and also a fab dragon cushion too. Evening meal was very tasty (dragon burger and mustard salad) and white wine delicious. Breakfast choices good too. Bed was really comfy, and a good nights sleep was had. Beware of tight entrance to car park. I scouted it out first on foot. The lady who was on her break advised to come in from left (facing pub) and tuck in wing mirror if needed. No problem. Thanks for a great stay, hope to return with husband and friends.

We have visited here on a few occasions, each time was "ok", but the 1st visit was outstanding hence the return visits, sadly today after our hour long journey we were very disappointed, the lasagne was very poor, not the venison and wild mushroom version expected but a very overcooked soggy tomato and cheese mess frankly, with hardly any mince and 2-3 mushrooms?! My partner had the pie, something you'd expect to get in your local chip shop at best, and on arrival the portion was small so had to order a side of chips, at a very hefty £3 a bit steep for frozen chips in my view! No one bothered to come over to ask if the meal was ok, and when our dishes were cleared and I voiced my issues we were handed the bill with my meal deducted? Maybe we would've liked a dessert! But there you go, there are other nice places to visit, I would not recommend this place.

Great and inventive menu. The venison lasagne is to die for! Service was a bit slow but expected with teenagers as waiters. The freshly cooked parsnip crisps were incredible. Great value. Shame I don't live in the area.

Hotel situated in an impressive 16th Century House with 9 hole golf course. Weddings and receptions can be held here. Beautiful countryside setting.

We had food in the bar 2 days after Christmas and it was extremely busy. Tables being taken as soon as they were vacated. And it's of no surprise. The food is to die for. And it's such a lovely quaint little place. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and they're all friendly and well mannered. Definitely glad we found this little gem and will definitely be returning.

The venue is charming, and the staff always polite and helpful. The atmosphere is very inviting, and parking in the back is most useful. It's a shame then that the food could be better.

Overall we enjoyed our stay here in April 2015, the room was very comfortable and clean, having been recently renovated, work was in progress on other rooms, breakfast was very pleasant apart from water for tea running out. Our main niggle was the TV remote did not work as a result TV operation was limited, and although we asked twice no solution was offered, I tried to watch TV on my pad through Wi-Fi in the room but it was to slow to support it. If the Service could be improved I would give our stay five stars, but sometimes its the small attention to detail that matters, beware the entrance to the parking at the rear is narrow, ok for a Corsa, tricky for a Range Rover maybe …

We have stayed at the Dragon Inn on several occasions. We have always had beautiful rooms with huge comfy beds and lovely bathrooms. The rooms have always been exceptionally clean. We have eaten in the restaurant and the food is good. I would recommend this hotel to everyone :-)

The room was lovely, comfy bed and nice en suite. The boiler broke on one of the 2 days we were there, but we were given the 2nd night off our bill without even mentioning it. Staff were all friendly, we would definitely stay here again.

First time we had Sunday lunch at the Dragon Inn a few weeks ago the meal was delicious with plenty to go around. This Sunday however was a different story altogether, we had arrange to meet two friends there as the previous meal was so good. We ordered three pork and one beef for lunch. We were presented with our meals and were shocked to receive one tiny portion of apple sauce for all three pork meals. There was also a tiny portion of potatoes and veg. Again one small bowl for all four of us containing five new potatoes (I kid you not) and a tiny amount of broccoli. We asked for more and in all fairness we received another tiny bowl. I do not have a huge appetite however one bowl each would not have been excessive. An excellent meal let down by tiny portions.

Lovely hot food and also a delicious afternoon tea. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We only ate on this visit but would definitely stay here — especially as they accept dogs :).

After travelling around europe for a few weeks, I think this was my favorite place. The room was massive with very comfortable beds. Free Wi-Fi (which seems to be getting harder to find) is always a nice bonus, the staff were excellent (and very nicely dressed, I have to say) and even let us do a load of washing on their machine! The car park has a very narrow entrance though, so you might need to fold the mirrors in on a larger car.

Always warm and welcoming and ready to accommodate. Food delicious and served on warm plates, staff attentive. For anyone reading the review that mentions a cold lobby next to the toilet, that room by the main entrance is part of the restaurant proper, not a lobby, and the toilets are in fact through the larger part of the restaurant/bar, not near the entrance at all! When friends of mine turned up last minute to ask about booking a room, they were told the Dragon was full, but the manager called several other places in order to find them somewhere locally. Children are catered for too, and there is a lovely choice on the menu for all tastes. We always enjoy eating there, whatever the occasion.

Excellent, reasonably priced menu. The food didn't disappoint when it arrived, being fresh, tasty and served on hot plates. Worth a visit. Friendly ambience and good service. Recommended.
