As an impression more than a classic hotel is a modern pub furnished with classic style, and good variety of beers and cindron. Large spaces inside and outside with outdoor area reserved for smokers. We had dinner with great Welsh traditional dishes. It should be noted, not a foregone conclusion in England, the possibility of dinner until 11pm. This delightful place is home to some of the hotel's rooms. Very well furnished rooms with large bathroom and perfectly clean. A special mention to the kindness and helpfulness of the staff. A hotly recommended place.

On arrival, staff extremely helpful. Room, air conditioned a blessing in the current heatwave. Ensuite was excellent, walk in shower, unbelievably good value for its facilities. No breakfast included in price, however, very reasonable extensive menu available in restaurant. Would we go there again — absolutely, cannot wait.

Had a mixed grill for lunch. Not as good value compared to other witherspoons in Birmingham. Nice pleasant staff and atmosphere.

Lovely building loads of character and plenty of room large outdoor seating area I'm just not a fan of wetherspoons but at least they've done something with it.

Good quality hotel, rooms quite spacious and clean, little bit dated but it's part of the appeal being attached to large section of the castle. Breakfast and evening meal very good quality, staff friendly and attentive. Fabulous outside seating area with possibly some of the best views to be seen. Minutes away from the town, cathedral and museums etc. I would definitely recommend!

Fantastic service from the relatively new staff. Has been renovated to a good standard (even if the wonky stairs play tricks on your eyes). Food was great and atmosphere, for a weatherspoons, was excellent. Edit: revisited in May 2018 and the food was shockingly bad…

Always excellent food here. Came for lunch, great service, food hot and delicious, great value, lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Lovely great Wetherspoons kept all the features of the original george hotel lovely outside sitting area and conservatory but the breakfast is poor cheap tasting beans and often the breakfast itself is cold.

Checked in at bar, room upstairs is very well furnished, great value for money and you know what you get with wetherspoons.

What a fabulous discovery. Tucked in down a lane just behind the Bulwark this is not just another formula Wetherspoons establishment. Wetherspoons are generally a great brand anyway but The George really is a small market town gem. Affordable and the food is good. As is the service. I'm tempted to spend a night just to round off the experience.

They have a lovely choice of real ales at good prices. The food was quick to arrive and to say it was the nicest steak and pepper sauce I've had, the staff were wonderful. It will definitely be the first place I would go to for a lovely meal.

Have changed my rating from 3 to 4 stars As the staff have improved no end and the food is fsntastic now. Def worth poking your head in and having a beer. Huge inside and the main ceiling is worth a look at.

Been twice before or more and certainly lives up its reputation of high standards befitting of this Hotel Establishment. I love it. Nice welcome, ordered our meal an Indian curry and within 4 minutes it arrived. Fastest on record. Quality was extremely good, adequate and very filling at half the price of a takeaway. Who wants a takeaway when you can enjoy the luxury of a restaurant. Many thanks again.

Once again Spoons pulled it off with a show stopper Restaurant and hotel this time. Enjoyed the curry yesterday. It was a little over cooked this time, but still enjoyable, just needed the cooking time reduced a little, typical of a microwave. Not sure what type of oven you use. Wife an ex chef and noticed immediately as I did. Fortunately it was ok and very good. Must say fastest service ever known. Ordered at the bar, then returned to table. Within minutes, it arrived. Well done. Felt like only 5 minutes, probably more. Many thanks will be back.

Stayed here while attending a wedding in the area. Beautiful room — modern, well decorated and spacious! Well beyond my expectations and very reasonable to boot. Had breakfast in the Weatherspoons; nice smoked salmon bagel. If you're looking for somewhere lovely yo stay near Brecon; The George Hotel is a surprising gem!

Large Wetherspoon's hotel, pub and restaurant. Don't be fooled by the size of the frontage of the building when inside it goes back a long way! Very reasonable drinks prices and large varied menu. Outside seating area and toilets available as well as rooms. Never stayed in the hotel only popped in for a drink and a meal but the staff seemed OK and fast service.

A great transformation from a run-down hotel to a spacious, welcoming pub. The staff are friendly and very helpful, and the food is exactly what you'd expect from a 'Spoons, tasty and cheap. There is a great selection of real ales available, and the choice of soft drinks is great too, not just coke or J2O! As a U. K. First, dogs are allowed outside, and it was lovely to see the effort made for Brecon Jazz, with live bands and an outside eatery and bar.

Love weatherspoons, never let's me down. Good value for money. Consistently good no matter which one you visit. Just wish they would hurry up and open one by me.

Located in the center of Brecon town, a very nice setting. With a host of beverages and meals to choose from. Service was fast and very friendly. Food quality of usual Wetherspoons quality. Cheap and tasty.

Great food, reasonable prices. I particularly like the free refills on filter coffee. The decor is second to none and the bar staff are friendly and professional. My food came out in good time and tasted delicious. The courtyard is lovely and seems to hold the sun into the early evening.

You either like Weathspoons or not. They have refurbished The George to a bright airy place catering for a lot of people in a very efficient manner. The food is good value for money and I particularly like the unlimited coffee with my lunch. There was good draft beer on offer too. This will be a good place to drop into for a quick reliable meal.

The hotel was in a superb position and very good value. The staff were lovely and so very helpful at all times. The building is old and quaint so the rooms may not have level walls and floors but have loads of character. There is a lovely courtyard attached to the bar and restaurant and the conservatory is a pretty place to eat and drink. My family and I would return any time and highly recommend.
