A few drinks at the Ship Inn. A great set of lovely staff, very welcoming. (Ally, I think was her name, great team member) Thank you, I am sure we will be back.

My husband and I went for dinner tonight the food was amazing couldn’t fault it good value for money and the staff were very attentive nothing was too much trouble. I have been to the restaurant a few times and never had a bad experience would definitely recommend it.

Good atmosphere in the pub. And nice view over the harbour.

Dog friendly cosy pub. We absolutely love the atmosphere sitting both outside and inside.
The haddock was probably the best my partner has eaten and my Surf and Turf was perfect. We can't recommend this place enough 👍

Very welcoming and friendly they managed to get us a table for a drink even though we hadn’t booked they squeezed us in for half an hour which was perfect. Beautiful setting even in a downpour we will definitely be back.

Was at the ship inn for a drink before and after the fire balls at new year x staff were to busy but hats off they handled so well xx will go back when it less busy x Stonehaven is lovely xxx happy new to all xx.

Awesome food. They seemed pretty packed to, a bit late getting the food to us, but other then that. Staff was friendly and very nice place to sit and relax!

This is a very popular place to dine. The menu is imaginative and the portions very generous. The staff are great. Highly recommended, if you are in the area.

The people were very warm helpful and warm at the restaurant and hotel. Also it was dog friendly. It is a beautiful seaside location and the trifle was delicious. You could eat outside or just have a pint by the water!

Stopped off on our travels to stretch our legs n on our walk found this wee gem. Seafood platter was amazing. Been in this trade for 17 year and the waiter that served us with the glasses was fantastic. Will be back n will book a room with the hubby. Good job. 5* all around.

We stopped here on a whim, we were able to get table seats. The restaurant is split between a bar area (pub style) and a restaurant. I had the seafood sampler appetizer which came with salmon fillets, crab claws, shrimp, herring, and a kinda fish pate… it was only 16 pounds and filled me up. They also have a some great beers on tap. It was well worth it. They do have a kids menu, and plenty of foods to choose from, I was searching for seafood and found it.

We stayed one night in a harbor view family room which was small but nice and had a great unobstructed view. Good sized bathtub with a nice shower. There was a large heated towel rack which was very helpful drying our clothes after a walk along the really nice harbor boardwalk in the rain. Did not eat dinner at the restaurant as they were fully booked with reservations all night and the first come first serve at the bar was full (as was much of the standing room). Instead there are plenty options in walking distance. The included breakfast was well supplied with self serve as well as hot breakfast.

Two restaurants, pub lunch and Captain's Table. Both serve great food at reasonable prices. Service is friendly and good. Good selection of craft beers.

Busy place very touristy and has prices to match but the foods good and service is good considering how busy they are.

A brilliant place! Food is very good with lots of specials using fresh local produce. Good service and reasonable prices. Great views of the harbour especially when kids are jumping from the breakwater into the sea! Limited outdoor seating but well worth a visit…

Fantastic pub and accommodation the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Great location thoroughly recommended. The food is also great enjoyed my first taste of haggis.

Very nice pub in a lovely setting!
We had our small dog with us, and would have happily stayed outside in the sun, however we didn't like having smokers at the next table. Thankfully, we were allowed to sit in the bar with our dog, so that was much appreciated! Our lunch was very tasty — even the fish cake was delicious. We'll visit Stonehaven again some day, and will certainly come to back to the Ship Inn.

We stayed only for lunch but the food was great. Homemade soup was delicious and I definitely wanted another bowl. Portion size is good. Prices was comparative with the rest of the local area.

Nice place, very good food and reasonably priced although the staff seemed more interested in what was going on in the bar than the restaurant.

The food was excellent and the barkeeps knew how to do a good pour. However the service was terribly slow. Beautiful view of the harbor to keep you occupied.

Fantastic fish meals! My friends and I had three different type of fish and all were absolutely scrumptious! Friendly, cosy and welcoming environment!

Over priced for the standard of food served. Fine but unremarkable meal. Get the feeling they're getting by on the fact there'll always be tourist footfall. Pleasant enough atmosphere, nice that it still has the village pub vibe.

Fantastic pub and restaurant in Stonehaven. Brilliant food and top service. The staff and kitchen went over and above to cater for our daughter's allergies. Super impressive.

Only stopped for a couple drinks but the place is awesome, located right in the coast line the view is amazing, the beer is like the weather, dark and cold you can't ask for anything better I really enjoy it.

Had a really nice fish and chips and a few drinks. Gooseberry and blackcurrant crumble was really sour. Had to add sachets of sugar in order to make it sweet enough for me.

Very pleasant stay. Food good. Room comfortable and clean. However, there was a couple of deliveries at 5am which ensured that we didn't sleep in.

Nice location. Check was through a rather busy bar. Room was very cute with large bed and a bunk bed for kids. Was rather warm though necessitating opening the windows. The Dow side was then apparent… very loud outside with drinking local and guests I suppose till quite late. Food was not bad but definitely not good either. Morning walk along pier/shore was wonderful. Very cute little town.

Nice room, recently done up. Dinner was good. Breakfast service a bit slow. Great location. Quiet once kitchen closed. Parking hit and miss — if you get a space it's fine. Enjoyed my time here.

Was going to try book a table (last minute) at the Marine Hotel but it was fully booked. Phoned the Ship Inn and they said they could accommodate the 6 of us and a baby for 8:30pm possibly 8:15. Arrived early at 8:00pm and went into the bar area. Told the barman we had a table booked, he told us it wasn't ready just yet and that there was seats in the bar if we wanted to get a drink before our meal. Had a drink in the bar area, which had a good atmosphere and drinks a plenty, be it lager, beer or ales, and of course a great selection of single malt whisky! Got to 8:30 and the table was still occupied. A couple (who's seats and table were going to form our tables) decided to sit a bit longer after their meal. We weren't in a rush and so made no fuss as we were still happy enough in the surroundings and could see that the staff were aware of the couple who had already ate and drank but were still sitting in the restaurant conversing. 10 mins later we were seated. Staff were great, very attentive service. We ordered starters, at which point we were asked if we would like any drinks, of which would be on the house because of our wait, we hadn't made any issue over the 10mins so thought this a lovely touch. Starters were great (Veal and Haggis Scotch Egg was a winner, delicious! ). Nice timing between the Starters and the Mains, which were also great (beef bourguignon was good, beef cooked well).

Great hotel on the harbour. Food excellent, great selection at bar and friendly staff.

The food and service were absolutely fantastic. Don't get me wrong, this isn't an haute cuisine place, it's good, local, fresh food carefully and and interestingly prepared. The staff are knowledgeable and attentive without being overbearing or snobbish. If you like good Scottish food and drink (over 100 whiskies, real ale and a decent wine menu) then this venue is well worth a visit.

Overpriced rooms but super food.

Lunch was needed on a cold and rainy day. On arrival staff were warm and friendly and the bar was cozy after the wild weather in Stonehaven. Cullen Skink is a personal favourite and ideal for a cold day. Unfortunately the soup was thin and greasy. Liver and bacon was OK but the liver was mushy and the chips bland. Hot chocolate was superb.

We love going here for lunch/dinner and over the year, s have been load, s of time, s. We where there in from June 25 to may 2nd we stay self catering but go out to eat @ the ship in as it, s clean, good food, and the staff are all very nice BUT THIS time we were coming from the resturant and there was a dog with BLUE EYE, S and I said are, n t you lovely and the dammed dog went for me NO SORRY FROM THE OWNER, S the WOMAN said DID IT go for you I said yes and went to the loo to see if it had broken my skin but it didnt but I had a black n blue mark for a few day, s after one of the staff asked the woman about the dig but the woman said I do not know WHAT a lie. I love dog, s and have had them myself but I do not understand when folk, s eat in the bar that dog, s are allowed in the staff said sorry but then that was NOT there fault was not to happy.

Dad stayed here when he was up visiting. Lovely room with a beautiful view. The food is amazing. I would recommend to anyone.

Rooms are extremely clean and comfortable. Was there for the second time on a very cold night and the radiators had been turned up for guests' arrival, ensuring a literally warm welcome. Free Wi-Fi in all rooms, which is great. Also reasonable range of TV channels. The cooked breakfast is good — hot, but not greasy. I have no problem with staying at the Ship Inn again.

Ordinary pub food but somewhat pricy. Furniture crowded. Very busy so obviously popular but I Shall stick to the Marine Hotel next door in future.
