My great grandparents Ellen and William Scott were the proprietors back in the early 1900. I have a photo of them standing outside under a sign with their name. The board is still there albeit painted over. I’ve visited twice from my home in New Zealand and last time left a photo with the owners. My grandfather grew up here. The descendants now live in inverness and Manchester and me in New Zealand, ellen and William are buried in a cemetery just outside the town at the reques of Ellen who lived her later years in Inverness. My mother myself were named after her.

We had a really lovely time at the Crown — our first trip out after a year of lockdowns. The food was delicious and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. They were very good with the two children who are 1 and 4 years old. Thank you!

Stayed at the Crown twice now and all I can say really is that you would have to be really pernickety too fault it. ✅ The rooms are of a good size, especially shower units, it's generally spotless with good sturdy beds/mattresses for a goodnight's sleep or whatever takes your fancy… It's a well run establishment by Diane & David with much to offer in terms of food & drink with its own Public Bar and Café/Restaurant… Whether you want Coffee/Tea sandwiches or a cake, Bar Snacks or A 'la Carte, The Crown Hotel has something to offer you. A hearty Breakfast with your room, taking the full Scottish, even in the bar with a guid gantry and a range of bottles on sale as well as some locally grown honey. It doesn't stop there and for a travelling man like myself who likes a bit of photography, its a bit of a perfect location with Montrose 12mls South and Aberdeen 24mls to the North. Don't forget all the small villages and sights to see all around you, with the spectacular Dunnottar Castle not that far away either, The Crown hotel for me in Inverbervie (Mearns), Aberdeenshire is the place to be! Diane, David & The staff of the Hotel put themselves at your disposal and I'm sure the locals in the Bar will give you a warm welcome too… Which will all add up to an enjoyable stay, that will make you want to keep coming back, just like myself! 5️⃣*️⃣

Working away from home and staying here for a few months. Can't fault it. Friendly staff good food.

A comfortable room and freshly cooked breakfast. Old building so the bedroom has a strange shape due to sloping ceilings. I did bump my head several times. The mattress topper slides uncontrollably and one morning it and I landed on the floor and I have a large scab on my elbow. Low bedroom door and ceiling. Bathroom was shared but not on the same floor. Has a Victorian toilet on the first floor.

Vegetarian food was amazing and the staff so nice. Very helpful.

Nipped in for our tea bank holiday mon it was a bit quiet but staff very friendly food was very good fresh and served hot, good platefull we had fish good portion size.

Went in for a few drinks. Service was good. Got an amazing Whisky collection. Check it out!

The coffee shop does not look very interesting from outside, but I’m very glad we went in anyway. The lentil soup was great and a toastie and panini came with generous salad and coleslaw. Fruit scone was very good indeed. More to the point the service was very good and friendly even though we had arrived about half an hour before closing. Rating is relative to traditional coffee shops not restaurants or hipster artisan cafes. It’s a coffee shop of the old school. And an extremely good one. Would I go again? Yes.

Nice hotel staff are great even made me a pack lunch for night shift would recommend it to friends and family and would stay here again. Food was great would recommend steak pie and even had a few koppenberg non alcoholic drink made all the difference.

Good place to eat, or get a carry out.

We were looking for a place to have coffee and cake. Stopped here not expecting much, but the service was good and the range and quality of cakes very good. Don't let the outside (and inside) decor put you off.

Good food and atmosphere.

Easy to find and parked OK. No menu available to view, were served lunch in a back room with a pool table, odd. Starters were disappointing, steak pie for main was really very good, the roast potatoes were tired. Fish pie was OK. 5 staff asked us how our meal was so guessing not a huge trade.

Popped into the coffee shop. Service was spot on. Very helpful.

Had high tea with my girlfriend on a Wednesday evening (5pm that night) and was really impressed. Good portion size, good coffee and homemade cakes made it a treat and though I can eat, I ended up leaving a piece of toast Would recommend. They also have a wide variety of malts which was a bonus. … (High tea: toast jam marmalade butter, main course then scone and cakes)
I'd never had a high tea before but hope to go back soon Service was very good, staff friendly, and they also do the day fishing permits for the local river :)
