Enjoy the hotel, breakfast good nice meals in Rio bistro restuarts good sea view, but wish they put it double glazing windows in, will come back.

Stunning room excellent views over the ferry terminal the bay and out to the sea. Food was excellent dinner and breakfast, staff could not have been any more helpful, would recommend this hotel.

Central to the surrounding areas, 5 minute walk from railway station and ferry terminal, great breakfast, staff are lovely, only downfall is we are in room 113 which is above the main entrance and people are out here talking and smoking at all hours.

Food was cold and tasteless rooms need upgrading. Staff and reception always helpful.

Room good and breakfast plentiful but old lift prone to break down. Also staff did not offer to leave reception to help with a door key problem instead requiring guest to go down from the third floor to the ground floor to reset the key, especially frustrating when the lift is not working.

Stayed on a 2 night deal with Dinner on 1st night and bottle of wine included. Superfriendly helpful staff and a lovely 3 course meal. Couldn't fault anything. A real home from home. Many thanks to all the staff and good luck to Carla in her new job.

We had a deal. A nights stay, 2 course meal, bottle of wine and breakfast. We couldn’t fault the place. Everything was good. The meal was nice, the breakfast was nice. Friendly staff and a good location. Even storm Gareth couldn’t put us off!

Negatives: Bad bedding, poorly insulated window so cold and noise, door heating towels down so no heating in the bathroom, no door coats parking the nearest is paid. Positives: Varied and good hearty breakfast, friendly and helpful personalavailable, immaculate room cleaning and finished hotel and super well placed in downtown Oban. That's the result.

This hotel is placed in an idyllic setting. The views from my room were stunning. Unfortunately the room itself was poor and of low standard. The bed must be the worst mattress I've slept on ever in a hotel room. As for the shower it was better described as a trickle. I had breakfast and sadly it was poor. The price of just over £100/ night was too much. The hotel needs to invest a little in the rooms to make this hotel a better place to stay. If I return to Oban it will not be to this hotel.

Thought our experience at this hotel was good. Our room was adequate but a bit old fashioned though spotlessly clean. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was good. We felt the location was great, right in the hub of Oban.

I certainly would not call this a 3 star hotel. We arrived to our room being over 80 degrees with the air conditioning not working. Our shower only provided pressure for scalding hot water. We brought this to the attention of the woman at the front desk who told us she would send up the repair man and that we could "go back to our room now. " Once the repair man arrived, he was unable to fix the issue and said that he would come back later. We followed up with the woman at the front desk who suggested that we "take a bath instead. " The hotel was unable to issue a refund, did not follow up. There was no toilet paper holder in the bathroom and all of the appliances were extremely outdated. I would not recommend this hotel and I am extremely disappointed at the price given the service and the amenities.

Located directly on the waterfront and in the city centre. Small beds. Beautiful view. Shower without pressure.

Old style hotel in excellent location. Just a 5 minutes walk from train station, bus stand and ferry. Old style: small lift with iron gate doors which are hard to handle — plush breakfast room — rooms at different places — but modern bathrooms. Breakfast is a buffet with reasonable choices and nice view on quay and sea. Anyway it gives you enough energy to handle the lift :).

The hostess at our arrival was little sympathy, the one we had the next day at the time of departure was on the other hand very nice. The rooms were however rather poorly heated. In one of the rooms we had rented, the heating was down. We were provided with an electric radiator but had trouble heating the room which was rather poorly insulated.
I still liked this hotel for its stamp and its old typical carpets.

Great Hotel. The room was really clean with suberb view over the harbour. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was brill with a good choice. All in all I could not fault it.

So peaceful and quiet. Is what we wanted for my disabled mum. We had a lovely 2 days and we'll looked after. Lovely staff xx.

I had reserved a suite 12 windows for my birthday weekend on arriving met with workmen in car park scaffolding all over building no car park spaces for guests the car park belongs to the council and cost us £1 an hour from 9am till 6pm each day check in adequate though indifferent to us our suite was huge 2 four posters with lounge area however the scaffolding was immediately outside our 12 windows men drilled and banged all afternoon walking past even the bathroom window which was plain glass I couldn’t use the loo had to go down to reception toilet. I asked receptionist if this was for the whole weekend she said she would find out she informed us that they were not working at the weekend phew! However after breakfast 9.30am they were all back! I felt we should have been informed on booking of this. Also the ornaments a jug half full of dirty flower water and a fruit bowl with wet residue yuk also thick dust on TV and stand. The toilet seat collapsed when I sat on it. A new one was replaced next day by a lovely night porter Derick. Food was good service excellent Petra and Richard very professional and attentive. It’s been a grand hotel once and has lots of good points just a shame about some of the standards price very reasonable, on reflection we probably won’t go back.

Excellent visit to this hotel. Friendly and helpful staff added to superb dinner and full Scottish breakfast makes this an "I'll be back" experience. The only criticism I could find was the antiquated lift which either worked well or didn't work depending on it's mood. After a strong word with the very modern lady who announces the floors, it seemed to improve markedly.

Upon arrival, we were disgusted to find black mould growing in almost every corner of the room we were given. To the credit of management, we were given an alternative room without question, however surely this room should never have been offered to guests. Once settled into a clean room, we were disturbed in the small hours of the morning by a drunk couple entering our room. They had obviously been allocated the same room by mistake — nevertheless surely a better system would have avoided this. In addition to this, the couple were given an alternative room elsewhere on the same floor and proceeded to embark on a Jeremy Kyle-sized argument for all to hear (apparently he had been looking at some other lassie in the pub). I was aware that myself and other guests in the hotel reported this to management, however the problem continued for many hours and no sleep was had. I raised my overall complaint with management the next day who said they would look into compensation, considering how bad things were at the Columba Hotel that evening. I have chased this a number of times but have heard radio silence from management since — which is very disappointing. Oban is a great place to visit, but nobody would ever choose to stay in a dirty hotel with guests at war with each other and random drunk people being given the key to your room.

Fantastic location, excellent value and very good customer service. It's just over 100 years old and has been well looked after. Bathrooms are updated tastefully and clean. Lovely breakfast is provided. Beds not so great but for the price, it's more than acceptable. If you require elevator, it is an old elevator of course and small, I think that is a European thing though. It's about 2 blocks from train station and it is on the waterfront so you have outstanding views everywhere. We had an excellent time.

Staff are very very helpful and friendly. Was there for an AGM and meeting, ended up being a bit cozy but wasn't really a problem. The food was ok, the soup was great, the fish I had was a bit over done and profiteroles were ok. This and as I didn't spend the night meant could only give 4 stars. Otherwise nice decor, nice loos and the staff made it.

Great location but not a lot of on site parking spaces. Friendly staff and lovely building. We had a room with 2 bedrooms. Very spacious and some lovely views. Breakfast was basic but tasty and warm. All the staff we encountered were great.

Hotel is older but room was comfy and had great views. The included breakfast had a great selection of hot and cold food… all very good. Very conveniently located.

Quite disappointed by the staff. The bed was awful and the view on the see is actually a view on the construction field in front of the hotel : (

Columba hotel has a great location on the harbour front In Oban. Our Seaview room on the 3rd floor had great views. Bedroom was very contemporary, bathroom was a little tired, but not like we spent much time in there. Service on check in was good very cheerful blonde girl, good advice, friendly service. Breakfast service was also good, friendly new guy offered some good banter. Limited parking (3 spaces) so had to pay and display. Would stay again, great old building, Victorian lift was a treat.

Warning about this Hotel: — The room had several damage: water damage to two walls, including a lot of mold in the bathroom, the shower door was broken and the bathroom was not cleaned, also the room was right next to a construction site, so we had instead of sea view building site view. — At Breakfast there were dirty dishes, the floor was not cleaned and the staff behaved in an unfriendly and inexperienced. — The hair lady all of the shortcomings aware, has not pointed out to the guest but to the fact. — The Hotel has 5 Parking spaces, everything else is chargeable
This Hotel is an absolute impudence!

A hateful place without any respect. Antes impolite manager without any educacion who makes fun of their guests. Our privacity has been violated, our suitcases taken out from the room, a room move without permission. Very bad-manners.

Hotel was ok. My room was quite small, but it was the last room they had. Bed was comfy and I had a nice view. Like most hotel rooms I had no power socket beside my bed to charge my phone. Staff were nice and friendly.

Nice and clean rooms, nice staff, good and not to expensive food. This is actually the most important. We were very happy here. Whom is possible, I would have been 4, 5 star, because the rooms are very noisy. You can hear rooms a lot of noise from the hallway and neighbor.

Freshly decorated spotless room. However, no real friendliness from the staff. They were all very cursory, not even a "hope you enjoyed your stay" from reception. And… no choice of tea other than breakfast tea. It's unusual now a days not to get a choice for those of us that drink other kinds.

Booked the Columba Hotel for my husband's 50th 16th jan got there 2.30 ment ti have a nice room very small cold room think it was ment to be a single, got another room TV not working very cold, got another room no electricity we had by niw trailed our luggage all roud the hotel, back down ti reception again we were giving the state room best room in hotel by a lovely chap thst just came in Perry room outstanding full floor two double four poster beds wonderful views but — 5 in the room it wouldn't heat up was so disappointed been coming to this hotel for years won't be back. My husbands 50th birthday ruined. If going here in winter pack a heater…

We were just here for dinner — good selection of food on the menu, and everything I ordered was pretty tasty :)

Room was massive and service was great had no complaints got exactly what I paid for.

Good hotel and location only problem is there isn't alot of free parking for hotel guests, decor is looking alittle tired now.

Really nice hotel, great room, and sights of the harbour.

Stayed a number of times and as the hotel was being refurbished it improved, the parking is not good very few spaces for a hotel this size. Breakfast was good but a little hectic. The price of rooms is on the expensive side as most times I have stayed the old lift is usually not working leaving a long haul to your room with baggage.
