The food was superlative, there is an interesting wine list, views from the dining room are as fine as anywhere in Scotland, or indeed Europe, and the staff were friendly and helpful. A five star experience!

A very comfortable environment with features such as log fires, easy chairs and sofas in the lounge, a good range of ales, wines and spirits, and fantastic food. Also dog friendly, and in a beautiful setting. We had a great stay.

Stayed 2 nights, at the end of October, in one of the lodge rooms. Very spacious, super king bed, amazing views from the patio windows. Cosy, comfortable hotel with country house feel and real fire in the lounge. Staff are all lovely and food the best I have had anywhere. Will be back.!

We returned to the hotel for the third time as a bit of a detour when we were heading for the highlands. The setting is beautiful and peaceful. The food is exceptional and the staff are warm, friendly and helpful. I had left my phone charger at home but they quickly found a suitable one I could use. We will return and highly recommend it to others.

Spent a fabulous 5 days here last week. Where do I start — the view was to die for, rooms were nice and clean, food was amazing and the topping on the cake were your wonderful staff — each and everyone that we encountered. Just spent a delightful 2 nights here — stunning location, delicious food and excellent service, very friendly and helpful staff, comfy lounge with open fire, full bar with a superb selection of gins! Highly recommended.

Great choice of menu for myself and other half who are both pescatarians. The staff were friendly and the rooms with view were a delight!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, room so comfortable and clean, setting was delightful, the food delicious and nearly all of the staff were so professional, friendly and helpful. However, one young woman serving in the restaurant and at breakfast let your whole team down. Her face mask was worn under her mouth and nose the whole time. In addition her attitude was indifferent, as if she just couldn't be bothered. We were disappointed that no-one saw fit to pull her up on the mask wearing and when we mentioned it on check out the reception staff seemed uninterested and claimed not to be able to identify the staff member. We did describe a young woman with dark hair and facial piercing (don't think there were that many fitting that description) If we as guests are complying with rules and all other staff did too, I fail to see why she was exempt.

Beautiful setting. Very generous portions of fish and chips eaten outside on the balcony. What's not to like? Staff super efficient and very friendly. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

Very welcoming on our 500 walk across Scotland and this place is an absolute gem of traditional Scottish hospitality. We cannot thank the staff enough for their welcoming smiles as we stopped for lunch.

We had a great few nights here. The view is absolutely incredible. The food was delicious and great veggie option. The hotel is very traditional, well Kept and welcoming. Felt very safe with the Covid h&s arrangements. Staff were very efficient and friendly. We had some drinks by the fire in the evening which was so relaxed and very enjoyable and noticed lots of people taking advantage of the hotel being dog friendly throughout. Great for a relaxing holiday away from it all with beautiful views.

My hubby and I booked last minute as wee decided to stay away another night lol. We booked thru booking. Com and I have to say the hotel and it’s staff have been amazing. All safety procedures are in place too. We’ve just had dinner and it was beautiful, fast service and cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend.

Love this dog friendly hotel we had Christmas dinner booked. Everything went like clockwork. Staff very attentive. Food to die for. The sorbet was absolutely melt in the mouth heaven. Would definitely recommend you check this place out. We will definitely be returning.

Just back from a wonderful overnight stay at this great hotel. The staff were outstanding with their service and the food in the bistro was lovely. The views from our lovely room were gorgeous. Can’t wait to return. Definitely a 5star from us.

Lovely hotel with spectacular views. Evening meal in the Bistro was very good. Service was excellent and staff very friendly. Breakfast was also excellent with plenty of choice. Bedroom was comfortable and well appointed. We had a great time here. Only negative was checking in and out when receptionist (Peter) was abrupt and very unfriendly at both. Not a good first impression. Everyone and everything else was first class. Would definitely recommend Loch Melfort Hotel.

Lovely place in a beautiful setting! Very welcoming, and dog friendly with great wee thoughtful touches for our pooch. It was awful weather when we stayed but that didn't make it feel any less special. Nice to stroll along to Arduaine Garden, and watch the rabbits, sheep and heilan coos from the comfort of our room. Excellent value and highly recommend. We will be back!

Lovely Arduaine NT Garden even on a rainy day had gorgeous colour, interest and dramatic views in September. The visit was enhanced by delightful cafe and pleasant staff with a good wholesome menu coffee and cakes. Made our day!

One of the most stunning views for lunch/dinner on the West Coast. Both relaxed or formal dining available with tailored menus, both with locally sourced produce, served by friendly staff, and a great atmosphere to go with it. Don't miss the Traditional Music Nights too if you're around, it's s great way to finish an evening out.

Had a great night here and food was excellent. Lovely room, great view and very nice staff. Immaculate in cleanliness, shower good and nice touches with the bottled water and Tunnocks tea cakes! Would have like a cooked breakfast to be included but the continental was good. Well worth a visit.

We stopped to use the bistro attached to the hotel for coffee. We arrived at 1030am to find that the bistro did not open until 11am! We wandered and then returned at 11am to find the doors still locked. A few minutes later a member of staff was seen inside placing chairs under tables but not opening the bistro or communicating with us or the other 6 people waiting. There didn't seem to be a hurry! We waited until 11.15am and then gave up as did our fellow travellers. If you are not going to open on time cover the signs up and alter your website. We will not be returning. Clearly you do not want customers.

My partner and I were disappointed in general with our stay at this hotel. Room was average but comfortable, shower had no power (basically a dribble). Views from room were exceptional and they offer for pets to stay too which is great as we love to take our well behaved cocker where ever we go. We weren’t given the name of the staff member when arriving at the hotel but she was unpleasant and didn’t seem to enjoy her work very much. Dinner was included in our deal and I enjoyed my meal (we chose the bistro) however they had limited deserts that were available. No draft beer/cider and the same member of staff from reception seemed very disgruntled when we suggested the draft coke was out of syrup. There was also a lovely pleasant member of staff serving, I think her name was Samantha (shorter, dirty blonde hair). Dogs were allowed in bistro after half 8pm, would have been better for a designated area where food is served whilst dog can be present. Especially for well behaved dogs that are booked in for a overnight stay. I didn’t want to leave her in unfamiliar surroundings. Staff suggested to tie her up outside. I get hygiene reasons ect it then why let them in at all? On checkout is basically ‘outstanding charges and goodbye’. We weren’t asked about our stay or spoken to by staff at all throughout our stay. Disappointed as this place has the ability to be amazing if a little manners, time and effort was put in.

The view from the hotel is what looks the part everything else is basically a dud. The rooms are a bit tired and need updating. The balcony is a nice little sun trap (that was the only good thing about the room)! The small TV we had in our room had basically no picture, with lines all over it. Paper thin walls meant you could here most things in the rooms next to you. We had dinner included in our deal. The food was average would say the bistro was more of a cafe. The draft beer wasn’t working and the cola was out of syrup. When we asked the girl about it. She poured herself a drink and acted as if we were lying about it tasting watery. Took them 10minutes to come out and change our drinks. Not all the dressers were available on the menu. Had to pay extra for the hot breakfast which is fine, however the side plates were dirty and no mugs on the table. Had to get them from another table ourselves. The server we had wasn’t interested at all. Everything felt like an effort. On checking out it was just pay and go. Not interested in how our stay was or have a safe journey. Overall I wouldn’t recommend anyone to come here unless they wanted to be greeted with people with an attitude problem or just to be ignored.

Great location for a quick drink and snack on your travels. Didn't stay at the hotel so won't comment on the hotel itself.

Stunning place with a breathtaking view over Loch Melfort. Highly recommended for a romantic getaway! The restaurant has been a big delusion. Definitely not up to the Hotel Standard and absolutely unworthy of a 2AA Rosette venue. I had a romantic getaway with my partner recently and I absolutely loved this place. The structure looks beautiful, especially the bar area and the dining room. Our room was of recent build, so everything was pitch perfect and the view we had from our patio, was just marvelous. The only downside of the whole stay has been the restaurant: my partner had Poached Oban sole, Asknish langoustine bisque, Asknish langoustine tail and I had Smoked Argyll Gammon and Easdale Game Mosaic, quince jelly, pickled walnuts. The sole was overcooked and the bisque didn't deliver much flavour and also had an acidity that ruined the whole dish. The terrine was dry, but it delivered a lovely gamey flavour. The pickled walnuts were delicious and a perfect match for the terrine. The mains were even a bigger delusion: My partner had Seared Easdale Venison loin, dauphinoise, roast beetroot, kale, which was way again, overcooked. The result was the meat being dry and tough. The sauce was rich and tasty even if it was split. My partner said the dauphinoise potatoes were the best part on the plate, which is a shame if you order venison. I had Tarbet Pork, Belly, Fillet Ras an Hanout, chorizo potato, Calvados, spiced cabbage.

Stayed here for a night. View from our room is amazing. The room is ok not a high end. Old furniture roughly hand painted but super king size bed. Very clean place. Restaurant is … well ok if you like fancy food but if you like plain fare this place is not for you. I had to take fish and chips from bisto as I can have to must fancy food hence I've only given 3

Had a wonderful meal at Loch Melfort Hotels Restaurant, the service was impeccable and staff were lovely. The scenery is absolutely amazing, what a great place.

Beautiful location, our room had a fabulous view, disappointed with the shower which was a trickle rather than a flow and our final bill was way over what it should of been but was quickly rectified by the receptionist.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is great. The views from the hotel are marvellous. The hotel is next to a Scottish National trust site called the Arduaine Garden. There is live music on Friday night in the bistro. The rooms are spacious and cozy. There is no cellphone network in the area. The Wi-Fi provided by the hotel is not great and on the slow side.

Our room had an amazing view over the land down to the water. Woke up before sunrise to the Moon reflecting on the water. Got dressed and walked down to the water. Then to the garden next door. The continental breakfast was wonderful with a carafe of coffee. We stayed in the original house. I strongly recommend you read the directions and much frustration will be avoided.

The hotel has a nice view as well as location. The food is very nicely prepared and the view from the restaurant is simple! I would give 5 stars if there wasn't one thing: the shower is total scrap — > The pressure of the shower is so weak that you can't even shower properly. Supposedly the tip of the receptionist had been to leave water as long as possible from the Hanen tiles.

Room with breathtaking views. That's it. Staff takes little consideration of students. Speaks quickly and incomprehensible. In the Bistro there is only a small selection available from the menu.
The hot breakfast is cold, even if it is freshly brought in. Crockery and cutlery are not very clean.

The Chartroom II bistro at the Loch Melfort Hotel is always a great spot to lunch when visiting the Arduaine garden — after all, the views from the window over the loch are simply stunning. Having enjoyed our visit to Chartroom II last March, we were a bit disappointed this time (13 July). The setup is table service, so we waited 10 minutes to be given a menu — to no avail, despite two members of staff wandering past us several times — before just grabbing one ourselves off the bar counter. Another couple who were also waiting at the same time, and being similarly ignored, gave up and left. The place was quite busy, but certainly not rammed to an extent that would justify customers being so overlooked. Seeing that we had menus, the guy who appeared to be in charge came up to take our order, but was quite brusque at this point and throughout, despite my efforts to be friendly. The sandwiches when they came were good, and the house ale is always enjoyable, but it's a shame that the experience this time was spoilt by the below-par customer service.

My wife and I stayed in the Cedar wing for two nights. Our room was on the bottom floor. The poor construction of the building resulted in our hearing every footstep from the room above late at night and early in the morning. When they open the balcony door above us it rumbles and sounds like something is being dragged across the floor. When the people on either side were on their patio we heard every word even with our door shut. We were expecting a king size bed and what we got were two twin beds shoved together. Upon arriving our patio door wouldn't even open. The man from the front desk came to the room and sprayed the lock with WD-40 and didn't bother to wipe off the excess that was all over the door handle and running down the door. The water pressure in the shower is slightly better than spitting in to the wind. We have stayed in 8 other places on our trip and despite this being the most expensive it has been by far the worst. The view is not worth it.

Firstly, you stay here because of the views — they are just beautiful. Good cooked breakfast (check if included). Bistro food really good quality and good value. Decent wines by the glass. Staff very friendly, if a bit scatty. They are doing up the facia with lovely new cedar shingles and it's going to look great when it's finished (the works are not a disturbance in the meantime, incidentally) The downside : the rooms are dated and in need of a refurb. The double bed was 2 singles zipped together and the mattresses were sagging and uncomfortable. Walls in the extension (where the stunning views are from your private balcony or patio) are very thin, and you can hear everything beside and above. Dogs are allowed so if you have allergies, make sure you say when you book. Would we stay again — yes — those views are just awesome.

The views and the location are truly excellent. One of the most beautiful surrounding areas I have ever seen. The staff was very kind and polite. The only thing that takes away from the experience is the walls are paper thin. You can hear exactly what your neighbors are doing.
