Our second visit to the Sea Marge did not disappoint. All of the staff were so helpful and friendly and we really felt looked after. The hotel is very clean, our room extremely comfortable and the public areas welcoming. We had a great stay, this time with friends and I’m sure we will be back. Thank you.

Avoid! Woken up very early by staff twice. Patronising receptionist. Not a 4 star experience!

Just back from a lovely 2 nights at the Hotel lovely place wonderful staff enjoyable walks along the coast to Cromer food at the Sea Marge was outstanding the room was clean and roomy will be going back there again and again Edwards 22/10/2021 😊😊

We had an amazing meal yesterday. A delicious stone baked pizza and sat outside in the veranda it was so peaceful we could even hear the sea.
Friendly accommodating staff & stunning hotel grounds. Highly recommend.

I love this place. From seeing it for the first time I fell in love with it. The building itself looks beautiful.
The staff were all helpful, professional, polite. It's located in a great place with lovely walks all around. The room we had was dog friendly, a little tired round the edges yet better than some new ones we've been too. Had everything we required. The food last night was amazing, yes it was higher in price than normal (not by much) but you got great portion size. Haven't had breakfast yet but it smells awesome. As for Covid compliant it ticks all the boxes. Very happy we stayed here. We will return at some point. Even if its just for the carvery or afternoon tea.

I had lunch with my brother, sister in law, neice and mum. Best meal I've had for a long time. I would of paid more for the quality and service excellent.

Had a lovely few days there, the staff went out of their way to accommodate us and our socially distancing family get togethers. Food excellent, love the breakfast, despite precautions put in place for Covid still a lovely friendly experience. Well done to the staff, we will be back.

A small group of us came here for Sunday lunch and we were all very impressed. We were unable to book a table as we had a dog with us, but we were seated very quickly in the stunning bar area. All the staff members we encountered were friendly, attentive and very efficient. It looked like a very well managed team. Sunday Carvery — I'm not a huge fan of carvery's due to the way food is left out too long, not warm etc, but this was excellent. There were 3 choices of meat, Beef, Lamb and Gammon along with two choices of potatoes, yorkies and 3 choices of vegetables, 4 if you include the ratatouille which I would say was the veggie option. The beef was cooked perfectly. We shared a lovely cheese board to help us with the 3 bottles of wine we consumed… oops! I will definitely be going back and I hope you do too (but not on the same days as me as I would like to be able to get a table! ). Well done the team at The Sea Marge.

I love this place, been there lots of time for lunches and afternoon tea. Staff friendly and efficient and see to your needs then leave you alone which is how we like it. Food delicious and reasonably priced.

Wonderful English seaside hotel in Norfolk. Very friendly staff in a beautiful, historic building with magnificent views of the North Sea! Will definitely be back.

After four months and several emails requesting a reply to my complaint I'm still waiting! There's no excuse for that especially as I've been taking friends and family to the Sea Marge for years because it's a beautiful hotel in a wonderful location. But I keep leaving hungry and disappointed with mediocre, half-hearted or downright poor quality (yet pricey) food. The last occasion prompted me to write to the hotel with some friendly feedback. That was back in May and despite several requests for a response, I'm still waiting as of the end of August. It seems that Mackenzie hotels just don't care. So I'll take my friends, family and business to somewhere that does!

Had a very nice carvery Sunday lunch here today. It's a quirky place, in a good way. High vaulted ceiling & old fashioned decor. Friendly staff. Gets busy, you'd be advised to book a table.

This is a stunningly beautiful place. A lovely building in gardens overlooking the sea. However there was paint dropping off the window frames and the fixtures are shabby, damaged and straight out of the 1980s. The staff range from delightful to don't care to a bit unpleasant. The food is ok ish. Breakfast nice. My father in law was told he'd have to pay for a new mattress when an injury on his leg marked the sheet (not the mattress cover or mattress) although the staff when he checked out had a look and agreed there was no need. Not as lovely a stay as it should have been. And certainly not value for money. If the place had a refit and hired, a decent chef and sent the staff on training in customer relations it would be awesome.

Excellent hotel with friendly and helpful staff in a great position. The food was outstanding and the hotel has great character. My wife and I stayed at the Seamarge for 4 days from 6th August 2018, we really enjoyed our break and will return. All the staff were really busy and worked extremely hard.

This place is fantastic, meals are great and the room was cozy. We are from Australia and would recommend this place to anyone.

Old fashioned hotel with very nice modernised rooms. Room facilities were excellent, lovely shower room, clean and tidy with everything required. Service from arrival left a bit to be desired as staff were having to deal with a “new system “ apparently. Checked in eventually however was left waiting in the bar prior to dinner with nobody available to serve drinks for quite a while. Location is great, steps down to the shore require some attention. Lovely to walk to Cromer and back along the shore.

Loverly sea view room the grounds were great but you could break a window with the bread rolls. Beautiful inside lots of character the staff were great. 200 quid for one night was a bit steep but it was bank holiday. Had a great time.

Was staying down the road at the White Horse big mistake much friendlier staff and better food and drink at the Sea Marge.

Poor food and service. Granted we were updated on delays when we ordered our meal, but wasnt expecting to have to chase our drinks 25mins after ordering, or waiting 40mins for mains once starters were cleared away. Found it amusing my toast for my pate was only toasted on 1 side, and my husbands prawn cocktail was served in a Pyrex teacup, but nothing prepared us for inedible mains… A very light 8oz steak, chewy and as far from rare as boot leather; and pheasant deep fried or perhaps roasted, but dry and chewy nevertheless. Both mains sent back, and we left hungry. Couldn't advise a chip shop open either!

The Seamarge is a wonderful place to come for a meal. It is clean and well run, both the food and the chefs are delightful and the staff are amongst the most pleasant and efficient we have come across in all of the UK. When we had a holiday in the area we ate there and when my husband had to decide where to take me to celebrate our 40th anniversary, he brought me here, even although it was a 2 hour drive there and then 2 hours home. We can't recommend them highly enough. On a Sunday always have the carvery. So very good.

Pleasant visit there today, a very nice lunch (in excellent company as it happens) with a decent choice of menu items. The food seemed well prepared and cooked, the staff were polite and friendly. The mood was relaxed and the surroundings are very nice. The downside is that disabled parking and access is possible rather than good and the disabled toilet seems bigger than some but as the door opens inward it gets very much in the way of a wheelchair, if you can transfer from a chair in the corridor it will work better. We'll probably return though, lovely location.

Location is lovely in the pleasant surroundings of Overstrand and the gardens overlook the sea (although at this time of year we didn't go out! ). Service was very nice, polite keen to help etc. Food, when it arrived, was excellent but took much too long to arrive given the bar was very sparsely populated! This was a bit more noticeable as we had two young children who were pretty famished by the time the food arrived. As the delay was not remarked on by staff, I'm assuming it's not unusual. In conclusion, as long as you're not in a hurry, it's a great place for a leisurely lunch.

Character in abundance. Lovely staff, all very hard working and completely under managed. So many times a simple task turned into a marathon as this or that diversion presented itself. Broken printer, barrel change, blocked loo. All things management should be on top of. Despite, maybe because, of this we had a lovely stay, and might well return.

Went for a drink at the bar on Christmas Eve. Was quite quiet but that may have been as the residents were eating. Unfortunately the mulled wine was a 125ml measure for £3.50 and the atmosphere was not great, they then did not even ask us if we were wanting to join in the bingo when that started, maybe that is only for residents. Lovely architecture in the bar but I will not be returning in a hurry.

Seven of us went for lunch today at this beautiful hotel. The food was excellent and so were the staff. We will definitely be returning!

Great location for a hotel. Perfect for a walk to Cromer. Comfortable room but a tiny TV and virtually unusable Wi-Fi. Breakfast was tasty but there can be a very long wait!

Lovely meal in the lounge, followed by tea outside on the terrace. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Would highly recommend popping in for an afternoon tea. A beautiful setting with views of the sea and the staff were very friendly. A lovely selection of sandwiches and cakes plus either tea or coffee. The staff were more than happy to wrap up the cakes we couldn't manage to take away and enjoy later. Would recommend a walk around the gardens if you have time, there is also a path at the end of the garden down to the beach (steep steps) if you want to walk off all the calories.

This is a beautiful building surround by lovely gardens, at the back you have a seating area looking over the sea, very nice afternoon teas.

Beautiful surroundings and a delicious great value cream tea. We loved sitting in the lounge playing board games. Excellent service too.

The place is beautiful but a bit run down. Staff are very nice but slow in clearing tables and cleaning the them outside.

We found the staff more than helpful. We were given a room but were moved in order that we could have a bath.
We chose to eat supper in the bar, which we found to be of high standard.
The grounds were fabulous but would have been better with better weather. We would highly recommend the 8.5 mile Overstrand walk too.

Yes we had Sunday carvery with our four friends.
Always a relaxed meal, great service and wonderful food. The beef slightly on the rare side, which is how we like it and the lamb was delicious. The vegetables were all done and properly cooked, not to soggy or hard and lots of choice. We have eaten at The Sea Marge on a few occasions now and will definitely return.
We did just mention that this place has a lot of interesting history and it would be nice to have something displayed on the wall about Sir Edgar Speyer and also Winston Churchill references. We are definitely coming back again and staying for a few nights.

Lovely looking place but when we dropped in for food they sat us sit in the garden but then changed their mind on food. Poor service and appalling communication.

Booked in 17-3-14 as a Birthday treat, Lovely room, comfy bed, nice staff, great food, super views of the sea, will visit again.
