We came for lunch last summer and loved it so much, we decided to come back and stay the night. The food was delicious, and the staff are very nice and helpful.

Outstanding from start to finish. Lovely room, really great food, and outstanding customer service.

Brilliant place chosen because they have a special table for those eating out with their dog. Food was amazing n the service was undisputed. Atmosphere was balanced lively we ate at 8pm. They showed care n attention to our pup as if she were also a guest. She had her own little area with a mat n bowl n was also given a snack. Definitely going back. Also I'm a vegan n the vegan menu had great choices my husband is a meat eater n he said he struggled to choose from his menu because of the fabulous choices. A place not to be missed.

Great food. Good location for exploring this area. Good pubs. Lots of foot paths.

Lovely restaurant and hotel serving great food Nice atmosphere and staff are very helpful. Sunday lunches are outstanding. Easy parking nearby off season but may be more of a problem in summer. Booking essential. Highly recommended.

Excellent food and tremendous service. We normally stay in the garden rooms because we have a dog. The rooms are spacious and dog friendly with large comfy beds. If you intend to take your dog for a meal you will need to book the table, although always welcome in the bar.

My wife and I have just had another three great nights at the Crown & Castle. As always the hospitality was charming, the atmosphere plush but relaxed, the food astonishing, every single member of staff (management, reception, waiting, house keeping & kitchen) more than friendly with nothing too much trouble. We are regular visitors and each time is just as good if not better than the time before. Can't wait until we can get back round the fire again!

No children allowed. Went to Orford Castle with my partner and 5 year old child on a windy cold Sunday, after looking around the coffee we decided to pop into the Crown & Castle pub for a coffee (dry January) and a light bite to eat, apon entering we were asked politely by the young lady were we joining for lunch, we answered maybe a light bite. We started to walk towards the empty bar. At this point a gentleman said had we booked, we answered no but happy for only a coffee in the bar area. He then whispered something to my partner who then said to me that they do not allow children in the bar. We left and went for a lovely meal and coffee at the Kings Head where the service I e and food were top quality. Ashame the Crown and Castle, which is right by a tourist point does not allow children into a bar. It's 2018…

The staff were very attentive, FOOD was out of this world, The staff were serving our party of 9 people, and nothing was too much trouble. Our whole family, had a BRILLIANT afternoon, at the "Crown and Castle". Myself, my Husband and our Daughter, loved it so much, we're going to go back. 10/10 staff, 10/10Food… just a Beautiful, beautiful place.

A brilliant hotel and restaurant. Great food, excellent wines and wonderful hospitality. Couldn't be bettered!

Beautiful location in this little village for sea walks and looking at architecture. The hotel is thoughtfully designed with wonderful people running it. Superbly comfortable room 8 with a view to the sea. Best of all was the dinner. Seriously good cooking.

Although I have clicked 3 star, given the choice I would half given 3.5. We had the room above the kitchen and although we were told there would be kitchen noise, which was correct. The room constantly smelt of food! I personally thought our two day stay was very expensive. The room needs updating and the corridors and landing are generally tired. There are some nice touches… water in the room, nice smellies in the bathroom. The food was lovely, but there is a constant lack of vegetables with your evening meal, a real must with me. The staff are very welcoming and Stefan was a truly lovely person and always had a smile no matter what time of the day! The wine is expensive. The menu lacks information on what you can order as a paying guest. I had cheese and biscuits after a two course meal and on receiving our bill on checkout I was amazed that it was over £9! four pieces of cheese that you couldnt cut any thinner had you tried, no garnish, no celery, no sliced apples, no grapes. When you are paying this kind of money for two nights stay (£500) I expect perfection. After dinner we had tea and coffee, again astonished that we were charged for it! Everything appeared to be additionally charged. Believe it or not there was an additional service charge on checkout too! We wouldnt stay here again as I think its far too expensive and over-rated.

Had a really lovely day in Orford stay at the Crown and Castle. Their Steak and kidney pie is well tasty.

My partner booked us a room as a treat for my 40th. All round 1st class. Loved it. Lovely room very clean food was outstanding. Attention to detail spot on. Very peacefull surroundings. We will be booking up again.

We were fortunate enough to walk in for an evening meal and secure the last table. The greeting was impeccable and personal. With offers to chop and change items on the menu to ensure they meet our tastes. The recently refurbished interior is delightful and relaxing (as is the open fire). It's a place to relax and enjoy good food and equally good conversation. Real food takes time to prepare and the delicious steak and kidney pie is certainly worth the wait. A buttery, short pastry which melts in the mouth, aligned with succulent cuts of beef. You'll need the provided spoon to ensure that adequate scraping of the pie dish takes place to get every last scrap of gravy to mix with the creamy mash. The risotto was the equal of one's we've had in Italy. Lashings of cheese shavings, delicate flavours which compliment each other. Any Italian Mama would be proud to serve this at home. The food service is equally attentive and ensured that the cold broccoli was immediately replaced. The bottles of filtered tap water materialised as the previous one emptied. Chocolate cake or frangipane? We can heartily recommend both. All followed by a massive pot of mint tea. A lovely conversation with some hotel guests ensured that after many hours, we were the last to leave. Watching the owner (you'll know who she is). Her attention to detail shines through. It's all part of the "experience" which is what a meal here is about. Relax, enjoy and savour. We did and will again.

We enjoyed staying this hotel with family and my dog. Our room in the main house is very luxury and daughter's room on the out building is very cosy and dog friendly. They prepared dog towel, blanket and treats (hand made biscuit) for my miniature schnauzer. There are many walk around the river and pier and after long walk, we were welcomed by big fire in the lounge. The staff are very friendly and we receive great service from them. We really enjoyed two dinners at this hotel. There are always local speciality and seafood dishes were excellent!

The best restaurant in Suffolk! (There aren't many, trust me… I've visited everything in the Michelin, Good Food and Hardens which clearly are not inspecting places properly and giving them much higher marks than they should! ) The only other good place is the British Larder — some are so awful I've had to review them so warn others off. The service was lovely and our waitress friendly, knowledgable and attentive. The Manageress was active in the background, asking us if we were okay which is always a good sign and this kind of investment always shows with the quality of the staff you get. The food was simple, delicious and nicely presented. The ambience was good, relaxed and informal. The only thing is they don't allow children in the evenings which is a shame as well behaved children who don't impose on other guests ought to be welcomed.

I really liked it. It was secluded, felt very private and an easy walk to the shore. The food was top notch too. Would recommend it to anyone.

Either you like the Ruth Watson 'in your face' style of hotel or you hate it. I hate it. However, the beds are good and theres a great restaurant nearby — The Butley Oysterage.

There is nothing intrinsically wrong with the Crown and Castle, Orford, and you will not be disappointed by the food. I had a slightly stodgy local cheese pancake to start, and the chicken and guinea fricassee was brilliant. However, not all the menu was locally sourced. Given that they are based in Orford, why oh why are they sourcing oysters from Ulster! This may have affected my view of the whole restaurant which offers an elegant chic place to eat, however it is pricey and there is better value to be had at the King's Head or the stunning and unpretentious Butley Orford Oysterage.
