Just been to stay this weekend for Newmarket races. Quite disappointed for the amount they charge for a room. The hotel car park is too small and narrow so didn’t leave a good first impression. The room itself was adequate but noisy at night as you good hear the people in the next room talking. Breakfast itself was a disaster as they couldn’t keep up with the orders so I waited 20 mins for a cup of tea I had to ask for and a cooked breakfast I also had to ask for after 30 mins which came wrong.

Food was excellent, staff very friendly and helpful, I WILL BE BACK. We Chrissie and l Love Newmarket and plan to go back very soon.

Having had a lovely coffee earlier in the week decided to try a meal at night. The meal was most disappointing I didn’t eat the main course and told the waiter it was not nice and got no response from staff.

Great place to work and come for a night out the food just keeps getting better and staf are the best.

Nice bar, nice location. Rooms not great but ok. Kitchen shut an hour and half earlier than it said it did. Couldn't even do cheese and biscuits for a dessert but if I waited 2 hours I could have cheese and pickle sandwiches as room service! Ridiculous.

No stars from me, only stayed 3 nights and had to move rooms three times, hitel needs a searious upgrade from plumbing to interier rooms to even windows.

Stayed 2 nights. Lovely hotel although decor + carpets in hallway rather tired. The room we were given was up 2 flights + down a flight. Anyone with mobility problems would need to check room location before booking. Only had breakfast 7

Historical hotel, great customer service and central location in Newmarket. Well worth the stay. Evening meal we had was superb.

The staff are awesome, my collegues stay there reguarly thus was my only second visit, love the staff food is awesome, you are right on the main strip, my only critique would be on the visitor every night of non descript turning my T. V on at stupid o'clock in the morning, I stayed three nights and it happened every night. I didn't feel any discomfort towards my guest but if I did I would have been out of there in seconds. I told the receptionist and there was no surprise on there faces, so guessing not news to them, I'm assuming friendly presence as I didn't feel uncomfortable with. And I don't believe in any of that stuff. I'm logical and checked to see if timer was programmed on the tv. And nope the TV and remote are old school. So I still don't have a answer apart from someone likes the shopping channel and it's not me.

but if yoy stay far from an open window and the entrance in summer is still quiet and all right for an old style decorated hotel!

The place could do with being painted as it is looking pretted tired. My room was of good size and I slept well but the shower… to call it a shower is a joke, more like a dribble. Breakfast, forgot my order so I had to reorder what I was not happy about as it made me late for my meeting. Would I stay here again? Not really. On good thing that did have was plug sockets next to the bed. I stay in many hotels and this is never the case!

This is a hotel with a lot of character, all rooms on upper floor and no lift, so two flights of stairs is the negative bit. Otherwise free secure parking right next to hotel which is in center of the town. Good little bar with very friendly staff, I think it has just been taken over by another company so might be due a facelift. My room 153 was very large and bright and airy. Shower was great in a tiny bath. Breakfast was very good as well.

Great friendly staff on reception I was made welcome just like the last time I stayed.

Just home from a weekend in Newmarket staying at this beautiful hotel. We arrived before 12 and were hoping to leave our bags a reception but were greeted with 2 lovely helpful receptionists who informed us that both our rooms were ready. We were offered a free upgrade with rooms together which we accepted happily. The rooms were stunning, oak beams plenty of space and a sofa in our room. We were very impressed. This morning we had a fabulous breakfast with helpful, lovely staff attending to all our needs! Just fabulous would love to stay again.

Very nice hotel, old fashioned and very comfy beds. Customer service was excellent and breakfast was very good too all In all a very nice experience.

Had a lovely service here last night for valantines day with my partner the food was amazing and the staff was so friendly would highly recommend and I will be coming back again hopefully to stay over next time.

Charming old building, staff are very friendly amd theres free breakfast. Wifi is good enough for us to both work remotely from the room (on vpn)

I left my phone charger with a 3 meter cable 100% and the house keeping said that it was not there… It's quite difficult to mislay 3m worth of cable. Theft is against the law and lying is immoral… Make your own minds up.

Room was nice and spacious. Staff were very friendly and breakfast was OK. The town's quite noisy on a Friday night though, so if you're a light sleeper don't expect much kip before midnight. The hotel generally feels quite dated and in need of some TLC.

Waited about 5 minutes before anyone turned up at reception to check me in. Chef walked past twice and looked like he could do with a good wash. Was told they were having a party so I couldn't eat in the hotel. Room was tiny and looked quite run down. Room was also freezing cold even with heating turned up full blast. Lots of noise from the rooms all around me. Breakfast wasn't much better, waitress gave my breakfast to someone who came in 5 minutes after me so he could eat with his mates. Definitely won't return.

Lovely hotel steeped in Newmarket racing tradition. Would definitely recommend.

My partner, daughter and I had a lovely Sunday lunch here. Staff were polite and nothing was too much double. Highly recommended.

A good hotel in a perfet location, its right in the heart of Newmarket high street. The rooms were clean although a littel dated. The stay was quite costly for what you get compared to a few of the other hotels in the area. But it was clean, the showers were good & the breakfast was nice. Exactly what you want from a hotel.

A fine mid range restaurant in the heart of Newmarket. The food is tasty and reasonably priced, however, it just doesn't have that certain 'je ne sais pas' to put it in the realm of the wondrous, the marvellous that engenders love for a location. It's a really nice restaurant, the staff are lovely but needs a little bit of fairy dust, a mark of distinction to get that extra star. tldr. Nice food, reasonably priced.

I went to the Rutland Arms for a training course. The reception staff were very helpful in showing me where to go and the pastries that were put on for our break were lovely. There is good sized car park that is free for users of the hotel.

Such a lovely location room was spacious and comfortable. Probably be even better with better quality pillows. Housekeeping was good and friendly. Reception was friendly efficient and helpful. Breakfast on Friday was poor but on Saturday excellent. Hotel in general a bit tired but loved the original features crooked walk ways and high ceilings. We had a few issues during our stay which was a real shame but we were dealt with professionally and fairly by the reception team. We didn't dine in the restaurant as we were not happy with the cavalier attitude we experienced on arrival into the dining room. Ended up leaving and dining in a local restaurant which was very good. The location is perfect for the racecourse and for town centre drinking. The salted caramel tart we had delivered to our room was delightful. Shame about the 1st breakfast and the man who put us off dining in the restaurant. Had that not happened it would have been a 4 and possibly a 5 star review. Some of the team were fabulous and some of them poor. Think the hotel in general needs some leadership and TLC The Pinkerton's.

Quirky charming hotel. Stayed for 2day break, loved every minute. Upgraded to 'character room' on last night, this was a lovely suite. Nice food in restaurant. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Definitely going back later this year for another stay. Short drive to Cambridge, which was main reason for staying here. Highly recommended.

I stay here regularly whilst visiting my daughter, the setting is great and the staff are very pleasant and helpful, breakfast and restaurant menu is good, I have tried other hotels in Newmarket but keep coming back to the Rutland arms hotel so that says it all!

Went for a meal on Mothers Day, food wasn't of the best quality and 'cheesecake' didn't resemble a cheesecake at all, or even taste like one. Would of expected better especially seeming they had increased the price for this day. Wouldn't visit again.

This is a very nice hotel, the room was clean, and had exposed beams in the ceiling, the bed was comfy, the bathroom was adequate and the staff were friendly and helpful. Considering it cost less than a leading "budget" hotel chain, just up the road, it was excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

Excellent customer service with and old style twist to the rooms with a theme of horseracing in line with what Newmarket is famous for. The rooms and beds are lovely and cosy but they have the tiniest TV's in the rooms.

Stayed for the night after a day at the races and tbh… I was ripped off for £157! The staff were lovely but the hotel needs some tlc. The room was very small and tired in many areas, the small fan in the room was a joke as it needed aircon it was so warm. It doesn't matter how much shake n vac they put on the carpets, the smell isn't going to go. I'll be stay at the Premier Inn at the top of the street in future.

I had an amazing time here. Stayed for 3 days for a family wedding, the staff were more than friendly, the breakfasts were amazing — only fault being a single forgotten pot of tea (they were quick to sort this). The general theme of the hotel was very quaint, with a trouser press in every room and shoe shiner at the end of the corridoor — not sure if this is standard but I personally loved it! My only complaint being that the Wifi was a bit temperamental but they said that that weekend in particular the Wifi had been playing up. Would happily go back again!
