We do not live in Staffordshire now but we got married here in 2009 and always return to celebrate. The food is always outstanding as is the service and welcome!.
If you are unsure of a smaller wedding venue. This is it! fantastic!

Delicious Sunday dinner and great value. We have been here multiple times and the food is always of a high standard. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Beautiful cosy location for a yummy Sunday dinner and fantastic deserts! Would highly recommend slaters.

So, the good stuff — the restaurant was great. Vegan options, great food, no complaints.
Now, the accommodation, I don't even know where to start. Its like walking into the 1970s but not in a nice retro way, more of a wow this place needs an injection of renovation way.
I had booked a twin room with my elderly mother to break up a long drive to Scotland. First we were given a room literally on the beer garden (oh a hot summers evening) so we asked for a different room as we needed a good rest. Our request was accommodated. We were moved to a different section of the hotel — much quieter until other guests arrived upstairs and we could hear every word of conversation. That peaked at around 1 am when they were drunkenly running around slamming doors.
Terrible sleep, we couldn't wait to leave.

Xmas works do and food was exceptional. Sometimes you get a turkey dinner with 2 water thin slices. Not here several proper cuts and delicious. Cracking little disco thing and great choice of beers. All good.
Didn’t stay over so can’t comment on accommodation.

Oh my goodness, what an absolutely stunning place for a wedding. Julie, the events coordinator, is fantastic. Really goes above and beyond all expectations. Nothing was too much trouble, and because of her, the day ran smoothly. The staff are all friendly and polite. I've eaten in the restaurant here many times and never knew this hidden delight even existed. If you are looking for a Fabulous Place that pulls out all the stops for you for your wedding or celebration, I would 100% recommend you take a look around here. ❤️

Planning a wedding is stressful, during a pandemic even more so but the staff at Slaters have been absolutely amazing so very helpful through the whole process, nothing has been to much trouble for them to sort out. The wedding day went smoothly, the wedding house looked great and the flowers were perfect, the canapés were delicious and we now can't wait till next year when we get to go back and celebrate properly.

Lovely venue, excellent food, cosy coal fire, pleasant staff and a good pint, what more would you want.

Handy for M6 but in a pretty rural setting, we stayed in one of the guest cottages which was clean and spacious with comfy beds. Dinner was excellent and the service really friendly and welcoming. Excellent Covid protocols in place too so felt very safe. Would definitely recommend.

We had a lovely roast beef lunch on sunday to take away. Plenty of veg, beef and gravy. Good value at £10 each. Will be calling again.

We had fantastic take-away pies from Slater's last week, we both loved them and the fantastic chips! A very slick and safe collection system as well. Keep up the great work!

Absolutely amazing. Couldn’t of asked for a better venue to get married at.

We got married here last week and can not fault a single thing. Everything ran smoothly, the food was delicious and plentiful, all the staff were professional and knew exactly what they were doing and Julie kept everything ticking over perfectly — even sending us back outside in storm Dennis with the photographers for another 15 minutes while waiting for our suprise guest, Robin van der Laan, to arrive. Reviews do not do Slater's justice, it is far better than any review can recommend.

Went to a wedding reception. Efficient bar staff and drinks prices are reasonable too.

We got married last August and had our wedding reception at Slaters. We fell in love with the place as soon as we saw it and from start to finish the staff were brilliant. Defiantly a lovely wedding venue with splendid food and drinks. Such a great atmosphere and is spacious to enjoy your special day.

We got Married last August at Slaters, the day was truly amazing, there grounds was so secure for children & wheelchair accessible for my nana which was one for the reasons we chosen this venue for our big day. Julie went above & beyond to make the day stress free from planning at the start until the day came & the running of it, she looked after the groom & groomsmen keeping them calm & aware of everything that was happening next which I’m really grateful for, we didn’t have do a thing everything apart from enjoying our day All our guests commented how amazing the food was & how nice there accommodation was, we would highly recommend slaters to anyone 5

We had our wedding there last year it was fantastic, so we went back last to have a meal and stay over again, the staff at Slaters were amazing and the hotel is immaculate many thanks especially to Nathan, Richard for his chit chat and breakfast and Julie on reception. Best wishes Julie& Pete x.

Stayed here for one night. The welcome was quite frosty. The food is amazing — can’t fault that at all but sadly the room I stayed in was very dated — Not like the pictures they have recently posted! The main disappointment was the fact I could hear every word from the people in the next room so struggled to sleep. People should be able to have a good time and be able to chat and laugh but the walls are obviously very thin so became quite annoying at 1:00am!
The internet wasn’t very reliable and was very slow and the flooring in the bathroom had a hole in. The window to the bathroom was completely clear — not frosted so had to keep the blind down unless you’re happy for people for have a full view! Wasn’t asked how my stay was or if everything was ok when checking out — hence this post.

Held our wedding at slaters on Sunday and we really couldn't of asked for anything more perfect. The staff were amazing and Julie made everything run smoothly and nothing was too much trouble, we didn't have to worry about a thing. The food was lovely the day was even better than I could of ever imagined. Want to say a massive thank you to slaters and all of there staff for all the hard work xx really appreciated xx.

My parents had their wedding reception there and it was amazing. I have been going there to eat ever since and the food is great. Chips are hand made. Would recommend to anyone in the area.

We got married here on 31st May and the day couldn't have gone any better! Both Julie Lewis and Julie Bray were incredibly helpful throughout all of the planning and on the day itself. Fantastic venue with brilliant staff, all of our guests have said what a great day it was! Thank you to everyone at slaters for making the day so perfect, wouldn't change a single thing!

Daughter recently had her wedding at this venue and it was terrific! The little room where the ceremony took place was gorgeous and looked amazing! Room layout for the meal was also amazing and the food excellent and very hot! Everyone commented on the quality of the meal! There were a few of us that stopped over and the rooms were very good and beds very comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was in the main restaurant and it was exceptional with quality ingredients. Staff on the restaurant were a credit to the company! The only downside for a few of us was the receptionist who was very curt and abrupt. We had tried a number of times before the day to ask if we could get into one of the rooms to get changed as my daughter was getting married at 2pm. She told us that check is was not until after 2pm. This included a call to her the day before as we needed to know if we could get changed there or not. She still would not give us an answer. As we had taken so many rooms, and the fact that no other outside guests would be staying that night, I honestly believed that they could have had at least have had one room made up for us to use by 1pm. We were then told they would try to get one room made up but could not promise this but we would have to use the conference room if there were no rooms available. The wedding did not come cheap so was disappointed with this and just had to hope there was a room for us to get changed in.

From start to finish Julie and the team were so accommodating, especially when there were last minute changes! The night was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Special shout out to Chris and Matt behind the bar, very friendly and welcoming! I’m sure Keele Drama Society will be back at some point in the future.

We visited for a family wedding. Fantastic. The venue was perfect in every way. For the ceremony, the wedding breakfast and reception. The staff were very attentive to every detail and nothing was too much trouble. We were a large family and they were very accommodating. Loved the place. Loved the wedding. Food was excellent too. Thank you for looking after us so well. We had a Ball.

I attended a wedding reception of 2 wonderful people. The venue was absolutely perfect its not to big and the food was amazing … 5 stars isn't enough for how perfect the day was. We also stayed the night in a beautiful 2 bedroom accomidation that was spotless and of superb quality with a perfect full hearty breakfast the next morning. I would highly recommend this venue for a wedding or any event the staff were spot on.

I have stayed here several times now when travelling up and down the M6. Good food, friendly staff, clean rooms and comfortable beds. This is also a wedding venue, on the occasions that I have stayed there have not been any weddings taking place.

Very nice people, and always willing to go the extra mile. There is also an amazing smokehouse and the bar also makes amazing food.

Just like to say thank you to the staff generally but particularly to the young lady from Portugal who went home to fetch one of her own apples to give to our 5yr daughter for her desert. It made my day, again many thanks!

Fantastic Venue for all Occasions. We attend with Illuminated Letters and Crystal Sweets Carts, always looked after by the staff and really helpful. Highly Recommend.

Got married here 4th March 2017, can't recommend this venue enough. The staff are lovely and the venue is beautiful! I can't thank them enough for making our special day perfect. Everything ran so smoothly, we didn't have to think about anything other than enjoying our special day. As a bride it really put me at ease and our day was even better than I imagined. I even had a malfunction with my veil which Julie sorted for me with the staff at the Rosie Wilson shop in the craft village at Slater's. Beautiful venue and fabulous day, thankyou so much!

We visit Slaters regularly to eat and sometimes just for a few drinks. The staff are welcoming, food really good and there is an amazing choice of quality find, wines and beer. I would highly recommend a visit.

Myself and Michelle Surtees had our wedding here on Saturday 5th August. The day was so magical, better than we ever expected. The staff was unbelievable couldn't fault them with anything, I'f it wasnt for Julie Lewis the wedding coordinator the day wouldn't have ran smoothly and afficicently. She was professional all through the out the day even telling me to calm down stop stressing everything in hand even helped all us all put our button holes on etc. She was so calm and understanding with Michelle from the moment she got out of the car keeping her calm and instructing everyone wat to do. When it came to the wedding breakfast wat can I say but WOW the food was unbelievable tasted marvelous and the quantity and quality was out of this world every guest who attended said it was one of the best wedding breakfasts they had. So a big massive thank you to the chef and his staff for a unforgettable meal. When it came to the evening couldn't have ran smoothly DJ was excellent played everything we asked for. And a big thank you to all the bar staff for keeping the alcohol flowing all night. Over all the day was unforgettable to myself and Michelle never in this world expected it to be so magical. Every guest as they were leaving on the night. Said one of the best wedding they have ever been too. So thank you to all the staff of slaters for a magical and wonderfull day. We had our wedding at Slater's on Sunday 6th August and we really can't thank the staff enough. The staff are so attentive and friendly. Julie Lewis was amazing and the day ran more smoothly than I ever could have imagined possible. My dad wasn't well on the day and the bridal party needed rooms a bit earlier than originally hoped and the staff managed everything really seamlessly and made it all seem so easy! Slater's made our day so perfect and has helped make our day memorable for us and many of our guests. Many, many thanks!

Booked a table upstairs for a 16th birthday meal, though I had booked for 6, we were all running late, called and explained and the staff were extremely understanding and held the table for us (we didn't arrive until 7) the staff had beautifully arranged the table with the decorations we had dropped in earlier that day, the staff wished the birthday girl happy borthday, took group photos of us all, one staff member in particular was hilarious! The food was outstanding, brought out hot and didnt take to long either. They brought the cake out when asked, sang happy birthday and in general made our night complete! This place has just enough poshness with just the right amount of comfort! It is without a doubt the most fantastic place I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with!

We've been to Slaters on many occasions for weddings & birthday parties always had a very nice time. Never been for a meal so we booked Sunday evening with the family. On reading reviews we thought it would be a good place to eat sadly we were very disappointed menu looked good but unfortunately the food was of a poor standard, roast beef though tasteless roast potatoes & sadly a very poor Yorkshire pudding. We were a party of seven, the other members of our family were disappointed as well.

Visited with family for evening meal. Food mediocre, beef on the beef dinner was bit tough, not enough gravy on the dinner needed to ask for more, hubby said his steak and kidney pie looked like it had been kept warm for a while, he wasn't impressed. Nephew had the Cajun chicken burger, with sweet potato chips. Frankly I wouldn't have fed it to my dog and the chips looked like they had been standing and kept warm for a while. Don't know whether the kitchen were having a bad night and we just happened to visit on the night. If the standard of meal served to us was consistent every night then I can't understand 5* reviews slaters has got. Based on the meal we had I wouldn't even consider booking the venue for a celebration. Very disappointed.

Had the most wonderfully personal wedding last Saturday. Thoroughly enjoyed our day and the two Julies worked tirelessly to make it special and make sure I (the groom) was always in the right place, sorted out my button hole and generally calmed my nerves. Excellent.
