My absolute favourite place to eat, great staff, excellent menu and very well presented. I cannot recommend highly enough.

Lovely traditional pub atmosphere, even with COVID measures in place, which worked very well. The food was delicious, and the front of house 2 ladies (Sat 12th Sept) did not stop all evening, nothing was too much trouble and they always had a smile on their faces. Made for a truly enjoyable evening. Highly recommend, book in advance! Thank you very much!

One of the best Sunday lunch carveries we’ve had and excellent value for money. The staff were hardworking and friendly and their new system meant we felt very Covid safe. Add to that a very acceptable pint of ‘Proper Job’, a Cornish IPA, and the meal was rounded off beautifully. The only downside was we were so full we couldn’t manage a pud. We’ll have to return soon for that pleasure.

Our first visit today, carvery was delicious, 3 choices of meat & lots of veg, very tasty, we're made to feel very welcome, excellent social distancing measures in place, the pub garden was a good place to relax, will Defoe be back x.

Lovely meal tonight. Every covid measure has been met, being a business owner myself I have high expectations and felt completely at ease. Clear signage everywhere, sanitiser and appropriate measures in place. Would highly recommend a visit. The food was amazing as alike they staff.

Took my mother, husband and children (aged 6, 8 and 10) for an evening meal for celebrate my mothers birthday.
polite, prompt service, lovely wine, great menu choice for the children, and the good really was fantastic! My husband has been raving about the blue cheese sauce, best ever in his words! we will be returning, highly recommend!

Probably the best burger I’ve ever had! So much flavour in the burger and all the trimmings as well as home made coleslaw and tasty home cooked chips.

Came for a carvery lunch whilst visiting family. Friendly staff and delicious food. Highly recommended.

Lovely place with a very large range of different dishes. My entire family of fickle eaters all could find something they liked and barely had room for desserts. Staff were excellent and the service couldn't be faulted.

We enjoyed our meal but did feel that the welcome was a bit luke warm. Maybe an off night for the front of house staff that evening? The kitchen staff made up for it though by producing a lovely meal.

Don't tell anyone but this pub has a magician who can turn roast beef into mana from heaven. The juiciest, softest roast beef is apparently created by soaking the beef in a vat of infused elixir the night before. Quite a small pub but very accommodating and friendly staff there is also a little riverside walk nearby that leads to a ford and is idyllic although it is a path so not a place to sit and rest.

Staying close by, we was recommended this pub, and it didn't disappoint. Had the Sunday carvery, and it was delicious. The beef was melt in the mouth. A brilliant find.

Had a carvery it was great. The vegetables were not overcooked which is rare. Recommended.

We went to lunch on Sunday, we are both vegan, we were so pleased to see there were vegan dishes on the menu! We had the butternut sausages and the leek and cheese (vegan cheese) sausages with veg from the the Sunday roast buffet, the roast potatoes were done in veg oil and the broccoli, peas, carrots, cabbage and red cabbage etc were cooked beautifully, they made sure we had vegan gravy and lovely accompaniments, such as apple sauce, cranberry sauce etc. The pub is absolutely beautiful and so are the staff, they kept checking with us to see if there was anything they could do or get for us! 10 our of 10 for food, service and ambience! Will definitely go again if we are in the area at some stage! Highly recommend this beautiful pub to anyone especially vegans and vegetarians! Vicki and Peter, Victoria, Australia.

Steve pearson. Regarding your changing reviews on the babbling Brook. I remember more than once when you said you could quite easily settle down and work there. Also it wasn't food poisoning you had it was alcohol poisoning. I had the great pleasure of emptying all the beer cans you left in the caravan whilst you were living there rent free. You didn't have the decency to offer Sarah and Geoff a little towards the electric. Not being funny but Sarah and Geoff were good to you.

Nice pub, plenty of parking. Good choice of ciders. Nice lunch menu options!

Had a lovely meal with family. The steak was to a very good quality and cooked to perfection. Very nice thick cut chips. The blue cheese sauce was delicious and seemed freshly made. My sticky toffee pudding was devine. The service was excellent. I highly recommend this place for Great British gastro pub style food.

A very nice country pub — with friendly helpful staff — good real ales including Proper Job, Somerset ciders and nice food.

I stopped at this pub with a friend to break up a long bike ride with some lunch. I don't imagine the pub gets a great deal of passing trade but our experience was such that we would recommend going out of your way to visit. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The food was of a very high standard for its type. We'll definitely return.

Had a lovely carvery at the Babbling Brook. The pub is well laid out with the carvery in a separate room. The portion sizes are very generous indeed. The puddings were exceptionally good as well. The staff were very pleasant and attentive.

Beautiful place, with absolutely fantastic food and service, the young girl serving behind bar and taking orders is a credit to this lovely little gem of a place, will definitely be returning again.

We enjoyed our first visit so much we returned for our final dinner out before returning home after a week in the area. The service was friendly and efficient on both occasions. No complaints on the quality or quantity of the food served, could not manage dessert. Broccoli and Stilton soup was delicious. My dish comprising cod loin and sea bass on our first visit was delicious as was the haddock that I had on our second trip. Well worth hunting out this pub.

Went for a meal last week after being recommended & my partner and I had a steak. Unfortunately my partners steak was extremely fatty & stringy throughout. We made the waitress aware and it was also very visible as it was quite a lot of the fatty steak went back on the plate to the kitchen at the end. My steak was fine. Unfortunately there was no reflection of this poor quality steak reduced on our bill so went away feeling very disappointed that we had paid £51 for 2 drinks, 1 good steak & 1 bad steak & 2 sauces… a lot of money for inconsistency : — (don't mind paying prices if you get good quality but my partner didn't receive a quality meal on this occasion : — (

Lovely local pub. Warm and friendly atmosphere and the 'famous' babbling brook burger, really was very good indeed. Nice little selection of Ales, Gins and Ports. We will be back!

Lovely carvery on a Sunday. Good value, good atmosphere, good food. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Best to book in advance though as it is very popular.

A proper pub with a cosy, welcoming atmosphere. Start with a drink and stay for the food because it's some of the best around! The service is swift without being rushed and the staff have a natural way with them which makes you feel comfortable and important. I will be recommending The Babbling Brook to anyone I know!

Don't stay here. These birds stick their hands in toilets. I saw it on 3 in a bed. Never stayed there myself but if some bird who sticks her hands in a toilet is cooking my breakfast that's enough to put me off. Also, they aren't very easy on the eye. Avoid. If you're in the area though, try my b&b. It's only 145 miles away in Hitchin, Hertfordshire.

First of all, WOW! Best pub ever… We happened to find this pub by chance as we were staying nearby and booked in for the Sunday Carvery. We were made to fill very welcome from the moment we walked in. The staff were very friendly and great with our kids (which goes a long way in my book). We sat at our table and then the main bar lady/ hostess came and said we could now get our food. The Carvery selection was great, all the foods you would expect. Again the staff on the Carvery were very friendly and great with the kids. The food was to a high standard and has to be the best carvery we've had in a very long time if not ever. All in all a very very good experience at the Babbling Brook. Would highly recommend it to anyone and will be returning would out question.
