First visit and it’s a big place! I envisioned an old fashioned small room set up but it’s big with beams. Cracking atmosphere — proper pub. Best selection of pork pies to date and a raft of real ales to choose from. As my pal Arnold might say “I’ll be back! ”

Fabulous ale tea. Beer was spot on and the savoury treats with giant scones were delish. Only thing better would have been to have been in the pub to eat it all. Will def order again.

The Pub in a bag is absolutely brilliant! The beer was great and so was the quality of the food. The pint glass is a great add on too. I highly recommend!

Great pub anyway and post lockdown they’re doing a brilliant job of keeping customers and staff safe. Still feels like a “proper” pub even with the heightened safety measures. Lovely to be back for a Friday night pint.

First visit after lockdown and a very pleasant experience. Great range of beers. Social distancing and cleaning excellent and bar staff on top form with the table service and their own cleanliness. Felt like we had never been away see you again very soon.

We miss going on a lunch time for our cob pork pie and drinks which are lovely.

Lovely relaxing pub with the fire going, the bar cobs are amazing and the staff are wonderful was lovely to visit again for our trail stamp.

A warm and welcoming atmosphere is always guaranteed by the bar staff. A fine selection of real ales which are kept well and changed regularly and a good selection of snacks.

The owner is an absolute disgrace, no customer service at all. We had a cancelled flight which was no fault of our own and they refused to accommodate us.

I had a very early start in the morning and the host actually got up and cooked poached eggs at 06:00am. Taking service to another level. It was very appreciated and I have to say a lovely place. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Four of us stayed with Mick and Judy at the Anvil Lodge over the August Bank Holiday weekend while on a golf trip. To say the hospitality and accomodation were superbe would even be an understatement. The rooms are fabulous, we have never seen cleaner rooms with better facilities and the breakfasts are brilliant and set us up for a days golf. We think you would be hard pushed to find friendlier hosts and we most certainly hope to be back again. Good luck to you both.
