We visited yesterday afternoon for the comedy event and what a lovely afternoon we had. The staff are friendly and helpful, the service was excellent and both of the comedians were fantastic, we didn’t stop laughing! We can’t wait to return.

Visited for a meal today, wasn't disappointed.

Return booking to celebrated our second anniversary, had our wedding reception here 2 years ago which was amazing couldn't fault it in any way, and as expected our meal this evening and service was excellent, thanks guys xxx.

Only stayed 1 night as a stop over. Staff very friendly and polite. Room spacious but very old fashioned and basic. Lucky we were round the back as train line over road and noisy. Food menu not great very limited on choice. My partner had steak and at £25 wasn't worth it. OK to pop in for a drink as atmosphere was good.

Very easy to find, plenty of free parking, a pub and restaurant on site and lovely clean rooms! I only stayed one night but I had a comfortable stay with a great dinner (in my room because I was tired after a long drive) and very tasty breakfast. Is right next to a busy train line so if you are a light sleeper it could be a problem, but with the window closed it didnt bother me at all. Wifi was excellent and the room had a nice range of teas (regular, fruit and Earl Grey). I will be back!

Stayed overnight for a Liitle Mix concert. Friendly staff and bar and beer garden very nice. Quite basic inside other areas and room was old and certainly in need of modernisation. Did not sleep well as mattress quite soft and springy for my liking. Breakfast was nice and fresh and cooked to order. Plenty of cereals to choose from and again staff very friendly. There was decorators in the restaurant area upon arrival. Get the rooms up to scratch and a fantastic place to stay and relax in.

Called in on the off chance to book having just arrived after a hot and sweaty drive from the Wirral. Staff couldn't have been more obliging. Slaked our thirst with Rhubarb and Ginger Gin … then returned an hour later for our booked table. The food was excellent quality, served promptly and reasonably priced. Superb little touches by the chef: mini toffee apples served with the pork, pate served as a round ball with scrumptious salad dressing and the chocolate marquise was superb. We have booked a return visit for the end of our holiday narrow boat cruise. A gem!

Lovely location close to the canal and plenty of nice walks nearby. Restaurant is reasonably priced and great quality. Staff are friendly and helpful. Parking is limited outside but people park on the grass verges as it’s a fairly quiet road. Also hosts excellent comedy nights and live music. Private function room too.

Walked in around 8pm from the nearby canal on a Sunday looking for a good meal. We'd been recommended to try this place by several people. Were told by the staff there were no tables available even though there were many empty tables. When this was pointed out, we were told they were all reserved. When we asked if we could eat at some of the casual tables people were drinking beers at, we were told the kitchen was closing in 30 minutes and there was a 45 minute wait for food. In which case, what were all those poor people who had reserved tables going to do? The attitude of the staff was condescension and snobbery the way only the British can do. If you're on the canal, I'd certainly suggest other, more welcoming venues. If you're the manager of this establishment, I'd suggest giving your staff some training in how to work with customers.

I had my wedding here and it was just amazing! Bex, Chrissie and the team have looked after us from Friday to Sunday. Nothing was too much effort. The food was amazing, bar staff so friendly! The newly refurbished bar is beautiful!
I cannot recommend this place enough! Cannot wait to come back x.

Went for lunch for mum's birthday. Fantastic service, great food and atmosphere. Food is good quality, interesting menu. Children's food was good too which is important for me and my family.

Went to our 1st comedy evening at the walnut tree and really didn't know what to expect but the comedian's were excellent and the atmosphere was great. The venue is not the largest which makes for a intimate evening. The bar and decor look amazing and food and drink are also great with the food being source locally. Highly recommend for a night out.

I was surprised at how lovely it looked, inside & out. I had lunch there, an avocado sandwich, which I expected to be fairly ordinary but not only did it taste amazing (with the best bread ever! ), it was beautifully presented. Worth the little extra :-)

We had a last minute booking at The Walnut Tree Inn and how lucky were we to find this place. Great value for money, excellent rooms, great staff all round and superb breakfast. We stayed for two nights and had a live band on the Saturday night. Bar staff very good with the busy bar. Lovely old building with plenty of history. The ONLY down was the 24 hour train track across the road but we soon got used to it. Will definately reccomend and go again.

Decent food in the evening and nice breakfast. Friendly staff. Lovely view of the train tracks so one can see what is keeping you awake. Rooms are basic, paid for an upgraded room so I wouldn't like to see the cheaper ones. TV tiny and a long way from the bed, this is really not acceptable in these days of cheap TV's. Room was directly above the bar and there is no sound insulation so quite noisy from there. Shower was okay, no bath but I personally prefer that. Cobwebs in the corners of the walls so was worried about cleanliness but everything at ground level seemed clean. A few of my work mates stay here regularly so maybe I am missing something.

I called in and there was a small wedding going in. Everyone was friendly, nothing too much trouble. Very cosy, comfortable, enough staff. Definitely recommend. Lovely setting.

Great Jazz Sunday Lunch time its the reason we go. Hate the new bar! Who ever designed that should try using it from both sides, few real ales guess there is no room sor the taps! Good Food!

Hosted my mates wedding. Very impressed with the staff on how they looked after everyone. Made the occasion very special. Food was pretty good as well. Live band finished off the evening nicely.

Wonderful staff and the attention to detail was second to none, evening meal and breakfast was much more than expected and the buffet laid on for my wife's Mother's wake was exceptional. The staff were extremely professional and very caring at a trying time for our family. Brian & Sue L.

Stayed here few times now nothing to much trouble for staff. Rooms of good standard… clean n comfy… good good with great variety of choice. Great place to stay.

-My meal with my family was very over priced and tasted of dish soap. -Family all agreed our meals were mediocre at best. -The Soup is in a dish is a weird shape that makes it appear when you first get it that it's a big full bowl until you realise it's collected in a small dip at the centre, so you finish the soup in a matter of expensive spoonfuls. -Heard the male manager/owner admit he gives low portions to save money and try to pass the food off as 'fancy'. -There is a noisy train directly outside so terrible if need early night. -The female manager/owner steals the tips from the chamber maids who work hard cleaning the rooms on minimum wage. -In some of the rooms when the toilet is flushed it makes a horrible loud noise for ages that other rooms can also hear. Don't steal the chamber maids tips or you'll get a bad (and honest) review.

Dismaland, in real life. The worst experience I have had in a restaurant. We were told over the phone that we could use a voucher for 3 people only to be told when we arrived that this was not allowed. Staff (especially manager) unapologetic and very rude. I have never experienced such terrible customer service before. We were over-charged and then charged again for meals that we should have been able to use the voucher for. Utterly incredible that the place is still in business.

Nice location, venue was ideal for the wedding we attended. Reception staff were excellent. Bar staff however need more personality and further training on how tabs work so they do not to put other people's drinks on our room. Fortunately we were sober and aware of what was going on and the reception staff were extremely good at sorting this out. A system should be put in place to manage this for future guests. Food was good and accommodates for vegatarians. Room was a little small although seeing other people's rooms suggests that there is a lot of variation from one to the next.

Stayed for one night. Good location near motorway and sited in pretty village location. I had room 10. Very spacious and a good sized bathroom but located over the kitchen with strong chip fatty smell and noise from extractor fans. Had a problem with evening meal as I was told by the bar staff all the tables were reserved thus no place to sit! Went to Tesco 2miles away and got a sandwich! Good breakfast and lovely waitress. The manager was very concerned about my not being able to get a meal and refunded the glass of wine charge. This is a charming hotel and I would recommend it. Very reasonable rates too.

Nice attention to detail — loved the "tea" bag of freshly ground coffee beans. Unfortunately I'm a light sleeper and I didn't get much sleep as I could hear snoring through the walls and my room was over the kitchen. The owners were lovely and extremely apologetic; they moved me be to a different room in the mornign so I could get a few hours sleep with a late check-out. This, however, did kinda defeat the purpose in me staying over for work to get an early start.

Friendly staff, very helpful in the wedding venue for my auntys wedding. Nothing too much trouble. Breakfast was lovely and you were able to help yourself. There are 2 bars located close to the venue room with plenty of toilets too. Very good service overall.

Blisworth was voted Northamptonshire's best village 2017, although this place caught our attention first as a potential wedding venue. I took my parents for a meal to show them around. The pub, restaurant, and outdoor areas are pleasant. Staff are extremely friendly and attentive. Food is fantastic quality, I highly recommend it. Hopefully we'll be spending much more time here in the coming year.

I've been to the Walnut Tree in several times now, once as an overnight guest and twice for lunch. The food has always been well presented and very tasty. The staff have always been helpful and engaging. My only complaint was as an overnight guest. My room was immaculate but I had an interrupted sleep as a high speed train went past every 20-30 minutes which I didn't expect. If I went back to stay overnight I'd ask for a room at the back of the property.

Rooms are fair, for and breakfast of great quality. Would recommend. The only exception of the proximity to the West Coast railway line which can be noisy at times.

Had a lovely lunch with 9 friends after 2 nights on a narrow boat. Fabulous Sunday roast.

Stayed overnight for one night. Requested a quiet room. So thought we'd be at the back as hotel is right next to railway. But we were at the front and every time a train went by the room vibrated. It was very noisy too. Not just from the trains but also from the nearby A43. It sounded like the window was open even when it was closed. Better double-glazing required. Decor of whole place is a bit dated. On a positive note breakfast was really excellent and staff were all very nice. History of the hotel is very interesting.

We just wanted to say what a great meal me had this evening 5 August 2015 Steak was to die for we will be back — already booked.

Decent enough customer service, brilliant food and a comfortable bar. Room very basic but actually quite reasonable.

Booked for a 40 person finger buffet "wake" after a funeral. Excellent as far as. The bowl of fruit on the bar. At a buffet one eats the food on display, and so I was surprised at the resentment incurred when asking for a banana. The bowl was immediately snatched away and hidden under the bar as I was informed fruit wasn't included. Admittedly I was, somewhat resentfully, handed my banana. As I was personally spending £400.00 + pounds with them, thought this might be a tad short sighted? Hardly good customer relations.

Great place for a lunch or an evening out. Check out the live music and the comedy nights.

Excellent meal. Sardines firm, chicken well flavoured and wine a good solid Bordeaux. Excellent venison sausages and attentive service from Dominique.

Had evening a la carte meal Saturday 5 June 2011. Asparagus soup had probably been boiled too much or over microwaved as the cream in it was sour and also it was very heavily salted (possibly to disguise the former). Main course duck was delicious though personally didn't think the duck leg confit went with it as the confit was very sweet. The mouse as a desert was divine, several different flavours which complimented each other well. Overall not a bad meal although service a bit slow as think they were understaffed.
