The superior toon was big, the arms in the chair had engrained dirt in them, the bath plug did not work so no bath, the shower head would not stay up and was clearly a lack of maintenance, the shower tray was caked in body fat as it was orange and in the cracks. The hotel was completely under staffed and no manager was to be seen. There was a sports grading over the weekend and they thought it acceptable to serve a tea or coffee in a paper cup, the spa was closed and we were not advised the pool wasn’t open and not advised either. Would not have chosen the weekend had we known. The golf course was ok, greens need a little attention tho, the poor poor staff were just run ragged. The good thing was the food, dinner and breakfast was just fantastic. Very very good quality. On the whole a let down and totally disappointing and certainly not value for money.

5* we attended the 80s night last night and it was brilliant! Food was lovely, great atmosphere! We stayed overnight and the rooms were spotless and very comfortable and the hotel breakfast was the best I’ve had! Highly recommend.

Great hotel and staff, only letdown there wasn’t enough staff to serve and on the Friday night one of the bartenders was very rude to us.

Absolutely horrendous from start to finish drinks were flat food was raw! Service was awful in the restaurant and bar. Didn’t sleep all night as room next door were partying in room and hallway until 6.45 in the morning they also set off the fire alarm due to smoking in the room so whole hotel had to evacuate at 1.00 in the morning. Phones to reception didn’t work and too scared to come out of my room. Have contacted hotel since but no reply. Very angry 😡

Great location, great value just a shame that the swimming pool, jacuzzi and steam room was closed due to maintenance.

Hotel great, food fantastic not enough bar staff had to wait a long for our drinks. Golf course ok hard walking course could not get a buggy not enough to hire for the amount of golfers playing.

Great course, shame the greens are now in poor condition. Hopefully they will improve.

Beautiful location and views.

Just back from a lovely overnight stay here. We arrived in the dark. No idea of the spectacular views! Fabulous bowling, followed by an amazing evening meal. Service with a smile (through masks) and the food was exceptional. I cannot fault it, we even had a swim in the morning before check out and that was wonderful to! See you at Christmas. When we have another grandma visit!

Close down, place is a shambles, management terrible, Golf corses over packed and dangerous, worst golf weekend ever, plus’s side restaurant and bar staff were fantastic.

Didn’t have a problem with hotel with stunning views the meals we had were very good. But I’m afraid the golf courses need looking at the putting greens were very poor & general upkeep needs attention. Poor directions to next holes especially the valley course. We played Friday & the course seemed less busy but Saturday was painfully slow waiting on every hole.

Great golf course, greens are slow but we have had rain and cutting in progress, little bit more Tlc, it be back to best, would recommend and definitely return for another round.

Unbelievable slow play and the course was shocking! took us 5.5 hours to complete the round. They had clearly over booked the course as every tee has a queue of at least 3 4 balls and at the 10th they let more tee times start there round from the 10th meaning we waited 30 mins to tee off from here! especially in the middle of pandemic this is unacceptable and they will ruin our game by trying to get as much money from people as quickly as possible. Will not be back there entire experience was a joke and would have asked for my money back but had already wasted to much time here. Avoid at all costs there are much nicer courses near by that do care about the game of golf and people's safety rather than just money.

The team are all friendly & fabulous! We got married in September after winning the RugbyFM win a wedding! Fran in particular was amazing, attention to detail was second to none. The food was stunning, everyone commented on how tasty it was. Our day was the BEST it could have possibly been. Thank you to everyone involved x.

First time played it. Despite the terrible recent weather we enjoyed our outing. Found a lot of the holes interesting and placement was often key. Very friendly professional also. Looking forward to playing there again on our Society weekend later in the month.

We booked a meal for a young lady 21st. Birthday, first class meal. Staff were amazing They went the extra mike to make this a perfect event, contact Laura Williams was fantastic, thankyou.

Food & Service is excellent. I've stayed at this Hotel many times over the 5 years — good value & rooms are very spacious.

Come for my daughters birthday, there was 5 of us. We all had a fantastic time, the food lovely, the treatments was brilliant and the ladies was really friendly and professional. The pool was a little cold but that’s the only thing I could complain about. The rest perfect.

Stayed here for a wedding in June 2019, while the event itself was beautiful, the hotel did let itself down. They failed to notify us there were no spa facilities available for the weekend. When using the pool / jacuzzi, tiles were physically falling off causing a health and safety concern. Our room (booked as part of the wedding party) was located above what we guess was the kitchen and extractor fans / air conditioning units were located directly outside our window and making noise/ rattling all night meaning we could not open our windows. The air con in our room was not working and was very much required due to the heat at the time of year and also needed even more due to being unable to open the windows because of the noise mentioned earlier making it a very uncomfortable stay. This was fed back to reception at the time of our stay and followed up by two emails as requested, yet noone got back to us about our concerns. Extremely let down by what could be a beautiful venue!

A challenging golf course in a scenic location, where accurate shots are required to score well.
a real shame though was how poor the greens were, lacking in consistently, quality are condition, in the middle of August one would expect them to be in better condition.
that said, we still enjoyed our round, hospitality and food were good.
I would recommend going a buggy to play the golf (a little steep at £30 though).

Great scenery, very relaxed atmosphere.

We visited the spa through Spa Seekers. We would like to say that the staff we interacted with were polite and helpful, and the food was lovely. We also had a lovely treatment as part of our package… However, the spa facilities were shocking. We checked the website to see the facilities before we booked this spa day, and it makes it look lovely and glossy. This is supposed to be a **** hotel and spa, but there were many fundamental flaws: 1. The reception area is tired a…nd very small. There were no signposts to the reception area and we tried three doors before we found the right one. 2. The changing rooms were dirty with ill fitting lockers, broken suspended ceiling tiles, old hairdryers that barely worked, disgusting showers with mould on the fittings and grout, freestanding lockers and no air conditioner, so they were very hot. The carpet was old and dull. 3. The corridor to the pool area was full of exposed wiring, broken plaster, bodged paint, dirty flooring and was in a very poor state of repair. 4. The pool area was also disgusting. There was a bubbled paint on the walls, peeling paint on the windows, the tiles around the pool were filthy, the “hydro pool “was filthy even though there was a sign in reception stating that it had been refurbished at the end of June. The water was very cloudy and when in use there was greasy soap scum on the top of the water. We didn’t even enter the steam room for fear of what we would find. The swimming pool was freezing cold.

Great two night stay.
Rooms good reception good food good didn't have time to use all the facilities hope to come back in the future.

Set in absolutely stunning countryside, this beautiful hotel is lovely. Sit on the terrace and watch the sun set over the lake. Very friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit.

Challenging course. Nice hotel, very good food and very helpful staff.

Ruined our wedding day. Do not waste your time with this Hotel. Despite a contractual agreement, they did not Deliver the services agreed between both parties. I highly recommend Hellidon Lakes if you like to be sworn at by staff and expect nothing to be done. The General Manager admitted they were to blame, but refused to partially refund the contractually agreed price. Instead offering a bar tab (which was a completely different requirement).

Lovely grounds but that's about where it stops. The whole place looks dated with old decor and fittings. During the winter thing may not be as bad but in summer, with no AC and beds with thick duvets, it's nearly impossible to sleep. Food wasn't much better. All over cooked and dry (both the buffet lunch and set menu in the evening). Staff were nice at points but all seemed to have different ideas around what was going on.

Lady on reception was lovely & friendly, let us into our rooms early. However she failed to tell us where we could go for our lunch (included in our spa package). Into the spa… Well there’s only 5/6 sun loungers. Pool was freezing & jacuzzi mega hot. Overall spa was tiny. We weren’t provided with robes either. Very large windows with a stunning view. Spoilt by the golfers walking past & staring at us, as they were able to see into the spa! Don’t really want to be stared at… whilst relaxing in my bikini! There was hair everywhere & it wasn’t very clean at all. Treatment was lovely (but spa for treatments is a different company to the hotel). No complaints there. Room was lovely but shower flooded bathroom floor. Restaurant we’re brilliant with my allergy & food was really good. Overall a few days away with friends was spoilt by the rubbish spa.

Very friendly staff, good sized rooms, good golf course (s — 27 holes in total). No aircon however so room was very hot (early July), and golf course could have been in better condition (greens especially) — however both of these issues are due to exceptionally hot weather. Food and drink good quality and value, overall definitely recommended.

What an amazing weekend we’ve had here! My two best friends just got married here! (30th June 2018) I was honoured to be apart of their special day from the moment we got to Hellidon Lakes on Friday night to setting up the wedding breakfast to little things we asked for during the day/night and everything in between! The operation managers to the waitering staff were amazing, so patient, helpful and always asked us if everything was ok! There is one person In particular id …like to mention her name was Gemma! She was amazing! She was so friendly, very professional throughout the whole day, got what the bride and groom wanted, she was always on the other end of the phone when we needed her, literally up to the wedding and on the day! We invited the staff to come join us on the dance floor and in which a few did! It was a lovely atmosphere! Thankyou all so much! The views from the terrace, that looked over the golf course and lake were amazing and the photographer had a field day with all the shots he took from day into the night! The food was lovely! We had a few choices from the menus and each one was lovely! We all enjoyed it! The kids menu was just enough on the plate for them too!
The room was soo clean and air conditioned! It was nice very to relax in after the heat we had throughout the day! The entertainment was very different as we had a few hours of bowling and even that was lovely and cool! The kids absolutely loved it!

Absolutely beautiful views! Room was clean, nothing special but had all I needed in it. Breakfast great! My colleagues ordered from bar menu where most of what they wanted was not available so sandwiches and chips! Not quite what was expected! staff were really helpful and friendly.

Hotel rooms in original half of the hotel look tired and need modernising however phenomenal views over the course. Food is excellent regardless of having in the bar, the restaurant or catering for an event. The 2 golf courses are a lovely courses beautiful scenery. It is a very difficult for a beginner but great to play really challenges u. Be aware though the course is very undulating so it's a long way round and hiring a buggy is a good idea. Overall would definitely recommend this for a golf course and hotel.

Food is excellent and staff are very friendly. Lovely area with stunning views and a fantastic traditional golf clubhouse feel to it. Rooms are outdated slightly but maintained quite well.

We were treated to afternoon tea as a group of 4 and had a bit of a mixed experience. There was dispute about the voucher we had been given as a thank you and then we had to wait about 40 minutes. When the tea eventually arrived it was of good quality and nicely presented but at no time did anyone come and ask if we were alright. If we wanted anything we had to go and ask. No top ups of tea were offered. The tea was served in the lounge which was quite pleasant and there were nice flowers on the table, but the upholstery was distinctly worn. Sadly won't rush there again.

Wasn't staying at the hotel but staff where friendly. We came in for a bite to eat as our hotel was not serving food off a menu only buffet and wasn't a fan. The food choices where fine with some local products. The bar area was quiet but had a few weddings in the hotel in hall areas so occasionally had people walking in and out but all fine. The funny thing was obviously by a lake when someone came in through the patio doors a frog followed and took staff a little while to chase it out was rather amusing.

Spa looking a bit tired… but if you get a deal, it's ok. Visited the spa again this week (last visit was a few months ago. Top marks for scones and the treatment (back massage and facial). Lower marks for the swimming pool (it was quite chilly), the Jacuzzi (a bit small for the number of guests using the facilities). I didn't use the steam room. Changing room had good size lockers, but dated showers.

Stayed just for a night on business. Room was a fair size, clean and very comfortable. Staff were very helpful and polite. Breakfast is buffet style with tones to choose from and all good quality. Only real criticism is the shot glasses provided for the juice.

There's no hiding that this is an event hotel, so expect conferences, team building, quarterly sales meetings, and the like to dominate proceedings during the week. That means the bar can get a tad noisy, but the rest of the hotel stays pretty quiet. The staff were excellent throughout, happy to help and go off-menu for most things (although they've no idea how to make a proper Old Fashioned cocktail! ) while the room itself was perfectly acceptable. Uninteresting, but clean and reasonably spacious. That really covers the entire venue actually — it does the job it's meant to do, and does it quite well, but there's no air of exclusivity, no panache. It's just another professional hotel.

Rooms: tired and dated decor but the beds are very comfortable. Service: excellent. Polite, friendly and happy to help. Food: hit and miss. When it was good it was delicious and some things were truly dreadful, retro prawn cocktail and mash potato you could re-plaster your house with being the two that spring to mind. Wine: awful. Setting: beautiful.

Just got back from my hen do at hellidon lakes hotel and spa x 12 of us arrived and they probably thought omg! but it was totally different. Lisa at the spa/pool reception was amazing and very helpful. She even managed to get us our own little private room for the evening to meet in and play games x the treatments were amazing. There was only really one downfall and that was the freezing pool and jaquzi. They did warn us but the temperature was very cold x and the pool area was a bit small x but it didn't spoil anything x the food was amazing and the grounds were stunning x sorry if we made too much noise. Would defo recommend. X one happy bride to be x.

In a remote part of the Northamptonshire countryside, you will find Hellidon Lakes. Overall the stay was pleasant, the rooms are fit for purpose: they provide nearly everything you need, only missing a hairdryer. They could however do with modernising slightly as the decor get dated and in the corner of the room you could see the wallpaper peeling off. The shower was powerful and hot, the views were beautiful in the room we stayed in overlooking the golf course and lakes. The double bed was comfortable, but we found it to be two singles placed together, meaning there was a slight gap and lip in the centre. There was also plenty of mirrors with plug sockets nearby. The service we received overall was good, it progressed as the weekend went on and increased to excellent by the end of our stay. The food was superb in the restaurant, however there was some occasions where they ran out of food and failed to inform us after we had placed our order. The breakfast was very nice every morning without fail, poached eggs and black pudding were brought to the table by order; there was a bit buffet also allowing you to have a full English if you so desired. Lastly there was plenty of other options due breakfast throughout the cold buffet and even a pancake machine which made one pancake at a time fresh for you.

Lovely staff — excellent facial BUT the place is dirty, shabby and cold. Water dripped off the ceiling poolside — so much chlorine in the pool I couldn't breathe, blood and hair under my poolside lounger. Ladies showers clogged with hair — I just couldn't use the showers they were so disgusting. Went for a spa day — had to pay extra (£7) for robe and slippers and £2 for any extra towel! Afternoon tea lovely and served by lovely staff. Will not be going back there again.

I went here for an event. Its in a remote area but beautiful surroundings. Hotel was OK, looked quite small from the outside. Toilets were a bit grim, not very modern and looked worn down. Depending on what was agreed by the event organiser, tea/coffee was only provided at the beginning of the event. Not during breaks or throughout the session in case we wanted another cuppa. This then made the bar very busy for getting a drink and food as no snacks were available.

Stayed here for some ME time and I had such a relaxing stay. Food was fantastic and the location with a golf course on site had great views. You could easily drive past it, so satnav is definitely important. Would definitely come here again because I left feeling very refreshed…

My husband and I wanted a quiet place to celebrate our anniversary. We could not have chosen better. Not only do the amenities and the beautiful location make for a relaxing stay, the staff is so wonderful going above and beyond to help make it a memorable one. Upon arrival, they upgraded our room, at no extra charge. Then after a delicious dinner when server, Hayden, found out it was our anniversary, he brought out a special dessert totally unexpectedly (I have shared the photo).

We often use Qhotels for family getaways. This hotel is of good standard with helpful staff and clean rooms. The pool and leisure area is however a little tired and in need of refurbishment.

Lovely venue for wedding. Nice views, good open space for photos and kids to play. Drinks were a tad pricey but hotel prices. Food was good and lovely staff.

VERY popular with golfers. The hotel decor really needs a refresh. Maybe we're not the typical clientele, but to me this place is just old fashioned. And worn round the edges.

While nothing was bad and the staff were helpful and polite the spa is tired and Jacuzzi was cold. The food was lacklustre, breakfast really poor waffles like bricks. Overall tired and management need to mystery shop their own place to see how things have sagged… has potential but needs investment and motivation at all levels…

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed at, the staff are happy in there jobs and polite, the rooms are clean and comfortable with wonderful views. There is however one down side, if you are given a room that backs onto to the smoking area you will have to listen to drunk idiots all night long, if you think your having an early night (after 10pm) your mistaken, the cancer garden is an on going hotel mistake and in this day and age a surprise people can smoke that close to open hotel rooms.

Great surroundings. Friendly and very helpful personal. The rooms are fine however most of the equipment shows it's marks to be used for qote long time.

It's definitely geared for golfers. The hotel is nice, but not a four star by any means. The room I had was on the tight side, (lucky I was visiting alone) good comfy bed, but the furniture is pine and dated. The staff are lovely, and seem very helpful but I had to repeatedly point out I was on a package & had paid in full already. At the spa I was asked to pay again, had to ask for the extras included such as lunch, robes. At dinner I was presented with another bill, I was just expecting to pay for my wine as the meal was included, but again had to explain. The meal was lovely and the view is great. But it seems the computer system doesn't share guest information! The spa treatment was lovely, thank you Lisa. The spa facilities are a bit tired, and certainly not in keeping with the brochure pictures. Had to use the men's changing rooms on the first day (? ) and they stank of smelly feet. Second day it was back in ladies and much better, but again dated and not at all fitting four stars. The culmination of my stay was to wake up to a bath that wouldn't drain & a toilet on the brink of overflowing. So what was ment to be a nice relaxing bit of me time, left me more stressed than when I arrived. But I was compensated, and the reception staff and maintenance team were most appologitic, again lovely staff. But I won't return.

Fantastic hotel with an amazing staff. Sean from the bar is a legend. Passionate, happy and chatty — never met such a great personality. Ola and Lisa from Spa gave the best massage to my wife and me. I would give more stars but unfortunately 5 is the maximum on Google. We had great stay and can't recommend enough. Would love to come back again at some point in future. A bit out the way down country lanes but the views from the terrace across the golf course and lake is fantastic. Good facilities with a nice spa and ten pin bowling. Drinks are a bit on the expensive side with plenty of room to sit in the bar area. Room was quite warm however there was a fan provided in the room along with iron and ironing board. 24 hour room service (No hot food after 10pm). Attentive and friendly staff. Will be going again soon.

Hotel is set in a marvellous location with stunning views. The service was excellent and room was spacious and well appointed. Dinner in the restaurant was nice and when there was a mix up with the orders the waitress gave us our side order on the house to make up for it. No issues other than how boiling the rooms were but not much you can do about that in a heatwave!

Beautiful setting, lovelly hotel. Spent the day at the spa with my wife and we had the most relaxing time. Staff were amazing. Very friendly and professional. Couldn't of been more helpful and pleasant… same can't be said of the treatment the bar staff had to put up with by some of the exceptionally rude clientele.

Very friendly staff, great massage and facial. Very poor nail bar experience. The gel ran onto my skin, thumbs had to be done twice and left very bumpy not smooth like normal gels. My friend also had hers done and they completely missed her thumb nails. After complaining she had her thumb nails done but I only got a partial refund despite not getting the full package stated also. A much better set for over half the price in Staverton.

Attended a IMechE training day at this venue. Very nice location and excellent food. Recommended.

Relaxing getaway. Nice food, good service, good spa treatments and approachable price. The room was also clean and tidy. The Hotel requires renovation on swimming pool area. Steam room not working the day we stayed. Friendly staff in general. Rude receptionist on our check out time. Misunderstanding with prices while we were told that late check out was 10 pounds until 14.00pm it turned out it was 10pounds/hr until 14.00pm. The person that told us this was not there on our check out time (probably the one from the night shift) the day receptionist stated that she heard her other colleague telling us that it was 10pounds/hr. Anyway I don't think it was a bad experience. I would suggest it for a day maybe.

Location was nice. Room was tidy and clean. TV was too small and in the corner. Shower facilities were average and bath was quite small. The spa treatment area was good: quiet and friendly and had a nice massage. The gym was well kitted out with weights and machines. The pool/jacuzzi area was OK but a bit drab/old. Steam room wasn't working. Good views of the golfing range. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Please dont stay at this Hotel, the bedrooms are dated and need of cleaning my TV was stuck in the corner unviewable from the bed we had no hot water for two days. The toasting machine breakfast throws the toast out the back onto the floor and the gym is unsafe with lots of broken eqpt.

Friendly staff and pleasant experience. Did a Gym, Swim and Spa day here and it was great value for money. Must admit that the Gym and Swim areas are looking slightly dated but would definitely go again and am considering membership.

The hotel is located in the middle of countryside, surrounded by lakes and the golf course. Views are fantastic. We were staying for a Christmas party. The food was good and atmosphere great. We were looked after well. The room was spacious and clean and general hotel facilities very good. We'll definitely be back to take advantage of the spa facilities and to enjoy the surrounding countryside.
